  1. OK, I must have gotten a hold of some really good crack. I just saw more hits by the Sox in one inning than I've seen in a week.
  2. I'm pretty sure I haven't done any crack, but did I just see Rios HR?
  3. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 22, 2009 -> 07:47 PM) wouldn't surprise me in the least. What would be really ironic is if the Sox help them by taking 4 of 6 from Detroit.
  4. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 22, 2009 -> 07:43 PM) wonder if the tigers are going to be like the cards were in 06...sneak in as the worst team and then win it all. I think the Twins are going to take the division.
  5. Looks like Danks is struggling. One thing I noticed about this team is STINK spreads.
  6. Funny how these thread starts with "I was thinking" or "just a thought", and I'm thinking "hell no they're not!".
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 22, 2009 -> 02:29 PM) I'd think there's a good shot that the Twins will be better next year, assuming Morneau comes back and Mauer doesn't start the season on teh DL. Their pitching staff under-performed this year, and how often does that happen to the Twins? Interesting when you have as little talent as they have they stick around in the playoff hunt most of the time because they know how to play the game. They might have won the division last year if they had Santana. I always hate watching the Sox play the Twins because they are really great at exposing the Sox lack of fundamentals. The "why doesn't Ozzie work on fundamentals in Spring Training" is a bunch of crap. Players should have these down before they enter professional baseball. This is my rant about the Sox organization. Kenny had hopes the minor leaguers would step up this year. Josh Fields can't catch a baseball and yet they thought they can fix this when it was probably a weakness back in high school. There are some things that if they don't have before entering the minors, they probably will never have. Then there was Jerry Owens-who can only run. Too many bad ballplayers. You look now, most people consider the best player on this time is a guy who was recently playing college ball. I don't know a lot about the Sox farm system (I need to change that) but I judge from what I've seen at the beginning of the year.

  9. QUOTE (oldsox @ Sep 22, 2009 -> 10:41 AM) Agreed. Bradley has been an angry guy for years. I don't hang out in the right field bleachers at Wrigley, so I don't know what is said or not said out there, but if I had a racist detector, it would probabaly be locked in on Bradley. And, using his three year old's experiences as an excuse is lame. Who makes racial taunts to a three year old? Other three year olds? Parents? This is the result of the "everyone gets a trophy" generation. Imagine if the guy said, "I'll admit I've really sucked this year." Some of the greatest athletes have no problem criticizing their performances.
  10. QUOTE (WCSox @ Sep 22, 2009 -> 10:45 AM) Unlike video games and fantasy sports, character matters in the real world. Bingo! The North Side had one of the best teams in baseball last year but it's the character issue that will always make them come up short. We let stats and fantasy sports erode our sports intelligence. There was a Sox fan on the SCORE talking to Stone that he would trade Rios for Bradley straight up.
  11. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 10:55 PM) If the Cubs were willing to eat 75% of his contract, then I'd take a flier on him. Worst case scenario you release him if he starts causing problems and make Flowers your full-time DH. This is a joke right? No way can the fans or the team be that desperate.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 10:54 PM) This racist stuff is really really bad. There's a story in the Trib online tonight where Bradley's mom said he was concerned his 3 year old heard racist comments. Are Cub fans animals? This racist stuff is really bad and sad. I mean what are they yelling at Bradley?? If they are calling him the N word, they should be removed immediately and prosecuted. What other racist chants are there?? The charge could be inciting a riot or something. Or they should be banned from all Cub games forever. Of course if look at the other side of the coin. I guess there are no black Cub fans. When all else fails.........draw the race card. Why is it when the N-word is heard, it's assumed the some white person said it? Sounds like a reversed prejudice.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 10:50 PM) Then again, the modern ballplayer probably doesn't care if the owner is pissed at them. They can go get a job with another team if they are veterans with track records. They can also play like s*** or even refuse to play and still collect their money.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 07:49 PM) Who in the world would want Milton Bradley poisoning their team? I find it funny that someone would even start a thread like this.
  15. When any player's performance drops tremendously I start to suspect roids.
  16. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 08:48 PM) At the time when we didn't sign Uribe I thought we were making a mistake. He might have wanted 2 0r 3 million, but he stabilized the defense and we needed that real bad. HE would have been worth it when we had to endure Josh "can't" Fields at 3rd. Not many look back at the beginning of the season when games were given away because of over all s***ty play.
  17. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 08:05 PM) I wonder what Walker has done to pull Dye out of his 3 month slump. Walker needs to go as well.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 07:18 PM) Did JD turn a single into a triple? Ugh... Ugh! Suck at the plate and compliment it by sucking with the glove. Good thing the Colts are on.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 09:25 AM) interesting that Hendry is man enough to do this now, with 12 games left, rather than 3 months ago when it all started. Nothing he said to the herald is any different then what he has been saying all season Hendry needs to go. He's made a lot of bad contracts.
  20. I think the owners need to tell the MLBPA to go screw themselves. They need to get away from guaranteed contracts. Milton Bradley still gets his $30M.
  21. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 10:05 PM) exactly why I do not want Thornton as our closer, much more valuable as a 7th-8th inning guy multiple times per weak than a closer who will go once over a 10 day span sometimes. I agree. I'm am worried about Thornton for next season. As much as they had to use him this season, I'm surprised his arm hasn't fallen off.
  22. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 05:32 PM) Just seen this on MLBTR....I wouldn't do this deal. The latest from John Perrotto of Baseball Prospectus: Seems like pure speculation, but a Jake Peavy for Carlos Zambrano deal this offseason would not surprise some in Chicago. Someone needs a new crack dealer. Cooper was pretty vocal about Zambrano. Why trade a Cy Young for a Cy Young wannabee?
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 06:36 PM) I'd rather have rios. But Zambrano is a better hitter. Could he play the outfield?
  24. QUOTE (tommy @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 11:40 PM) I understand everyone gave up already but if we managed to sweep the Twins and then Tigers at home, we could end up 1st before the final six game of the season. So I guess it is one of the most important games for the Sox this season. Go ahead and tell me to keep on dreaming. That's the thing. We keep looking at Detroit but you have to pass the Twins.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 09:12 PM) Carrasco also pitched two days ago, so he was out anyway. I wonder how far into the game they let Hudson go? Well if he were to pitch against the Sox, at least 8 shut out innings since the Sox can't hit minor league pitching.
