  1. That is not unusual in the post season.
  2. Munson in his prime probably couldn't either. McCann was a good fit for this team. That happens with players and some don't do well on other teams.
  3. Great info. I actually titled this thread wrong. So are these choices are guys not rehabbing?
  4. We did not get to see Eloy and Robert play a full season. It will be interesting to see how Grandal fares since he's basically played one season spread over 2 years.
  5. Rare are good contracts in baseball. Look at what the Sox are paying for an aging Grandal.
  6. I'm starting to detest the DH or 1B since this is the only position the Sox come down to from poor draft choices defensively. I actually like the NL style of play and I hope they don't go DH.
  7. This is what made Mark B so special. He was also sound in fundamentals.
  8. Bummer doesn't start. There is also the challenge of how long to keep a starter in vs. pulling them for a chance for a run in a close game.
  9. It's the usual yada yada of "well maybe he can play 1st base".
  10. The fall league is here. Any interest on who to watch? I've only been to one game and that season Engel lead the league in hitting. It gives me a chance to catch the last of any organized baseball.
  11. So any catcher in the minors showing any promise?
  12. It seems like a lot of the pitchers were going for Ks instead of pitching to contact. Maybe the arms started to get tired from pitches instead of innings. Many starters went at least 6 in the NL postseason.
  13. I learned that the Rays starters throw the least amount if innings. That is not to their benefit in the post season.
  14. Look at how many were not on the 2019 squad.
  15. Which means absolutely nothing. They don't give prizes for being close. They blew a World Series and a 1st round exit. Imagine their frustration. Either the Dodgers or Giants are going to stay home after the 1st round.
  16. Back to back post seasons is something few Sox fans get to experience.
  17. Trade for veteran NL talent that will have no immediate impact. Get some NL arms not use to facing AL hitters. I really don't get the idea of trading Eloy. We fail to realize that this is a young team. They got beat by a team with plenty of postseason experience. The Rays didn't fare well either. We really need some knee jerk reactions. Hahn may help out there.
  18. I was shocked by that HR by Leury. Watching that ball land you;d think someone else hit it.
  19. People expect too much from players who haven't played a lot at the big league level. There's never a shortage of knee jerk wannabe GMs. I could see something like this on a pre WS Cubs forum. Sometimes tinkering too much causes regression.
  20. Trying to plan around injury is never fool proof in sports. Eloy almost got hurt by a ball in the dugout. Too bad they don't use the team speed to their advantage. Of course you have to get on base to do that.
  21. Cesar is the new whipping boy. There are 8 other guys. I guess the 18 homers were impressive part. They needed someone to fill that position. His best use wold be to bunt since he is good at. I'm not really bothered by that trade since they didn't give up something like they did for Kimbrel. The reality is the pen is nowhere near playoff caliber. It's been the weakest link all season. As a fan I never feel secure when the pen has to come in.
  22. They don't take championships away based on flukes. Dynasties are becoming rare in pro sports.
  23. On the bright side back to back post seasons. We are not use to that. So often was the mental breakdown in August. Maybe the covid season created some over hyped expectations. Injuries were all across baseball but pick 2 important guys from any team and wonder how they would fare. There are fans of other teams that are very disappointed this season.
