  1. Look at how many were not on the 2019 squad.
  2. Which means absolutely nothing. They don't give prizes for being close. They blew a World Series and a 1st round exit. Imagine their frustration. Either the Dodgers or Giants are going to stay home after the 1st round.
  3. Back to back post seasons is something few Sox fans get to experience.
  4. Trade for veteran NL talent that will have no immediate impact. Get some NL arms not use to facing AL hitters. I really don't get the idea of trading Eloy. We fail to realize that this is a young team. They got beat by a team with plenty of postseason experience. The Rays didn't fare well either. We really need some knee jerk reactions. Hahn may help out there.
  5. I was shocked by that HR by Leury. Watching that ball land you;d think someone else hit it.
  6. People expect too much from players who haven't played a lot at the big league level. There's never a shortage of knee jerk wannabe GMs. I could see something like this on a pre WS Cubs forum. Sometimes tinkering too much causes regression.
  7. Trying to plan around injury is never fool proof in sports. Eloy almost got hurt by a ball in the dugout. Too bad they don't use the team speed to their advantage. Of course you have to get on base to do that.
  8. Cesar is the new whipping boy. There are 8 other guys. I guess the 18 homers were impressive part. They needed someone to fill that position. His best use wold be to bunt since he is good at. I'm not really bothered by that trade since they didn't give up something like they did for Kimbrel. The reality is the pen is nowhere near playoff caliber. It's been the weakest link all season. As a fan I never feel secure when the pen has to come in.
  9. They don't take championships away based on flukes. Dynasties are becoming rare in pro sports.
  10. On the bright side back to back post seasons. We are not use to that. So often was the mental breakdown in August. Maybe the covid season created some over hyped expectations. Injuries were all across baseball but pick 2 important guys from any team and wonder how they would fare. There are fans of other teams that are very disappointed this season.
  11. It's been that way for quite some time. I remember when cable became more mainstream when MTV was in most households. You had TBS to watch the Braves, USA had Thursday Night Baseball, MNB on ABC, your Saturday game of the week. Now you need and upgraded cable package to watch even local baseball at least here in Phoenix just to see the Diamondbacks. Fantasy sports and gambling make the NFL much more popular.
  12. There will be more than one owner who thinks that's a high price for one to play 2B.
  13. Reinsdorf's problem is valuing loyalty over performance. How many scouts get replaced or how many former players are involved in the farm systems and their ability is never questioned? The better big market teams still have great farm systems. This isn't the only organization that's been a joke this long.
  14. People seem to miss that. Eloy and Robert have basically one full season.
  15. When has this organization ever really been good at drafting this century? How many guys are drafted with the weakness of catching a baseball or lacking in the basic fundamentals? People complain of about Reinsdorf being cheap but he values loyalty over performance. Too many former players and fans buy into that. That doesn't seem to produce.
  16. He always had that option as an Asst. GM. They only thing that kept him here is he was well paid. Hahn's strength has been contracts.
  17. Same here. I have no issue with low scoring. No DH makes it far more interesting in deciding to pull a pitcher.
  18. They didn't really play in the NL. It's veterans that never really pan out. I'm sure fans will ooh and aah over some NL guy Hahn will get and they will not be productive until maybe August.
  19. NL talent just doesn't work for the Sox. It doesn't. There is no paper to prove otherwise but it takes eyes to see.
  20. That's the way I feel. This is not a seasoned post season team.
  21. Sucks I can't watch this game in the Pheonix area with basic cable or my MLB sub.
  22. How many times have World Series been won by a team that was hot? It happens in the world of professional sports.
  23. Sox didn't give up much for him and I'm still not a fan of the Kimbrel trade. He does have post season experience.
