  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 03:32 PM) Along with all of the great advice they get... They don't need any advice from anyone. They obviously have it all under control. Just look at the record!
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 04:31 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 4m4 minutes ago Robin Ventura: "Where I’m at and the people I work with, if they didn’t have faith in me I’d already be gone." #WhiteSox Faith and loyalty - the White Sox way! Meanwhile, over in Philly, Ryne Sandberg has resigned as manager there due in large part to his team's dismal results. But it's also because many of those who might have similar faith in him and therefore might help him save his job, will be unemployed themselves as major front office moves are expected soon. Good, 'ol fashioned, results-oriented accountability, seemingly alive and well in the City of Brotherly Love. And on the South Side, the Jerry Reinsdorf legendary loyalty reward program soldiers on. Wonder which team will return to postseason play sooner - the White Sox or Phillies!
  3. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 05:50 PM) He got it right last time too, Hahn is not to blame for any of this. He did his job to the best of his abilities and the last time I checked the GM dosen't suit up and play. Well, two things: A.) There isn't a general manager today or in the history of the game who would agree with your assertion that Hahn is not to blame for ANY of this. As GM, he is responsible for assembling the talent to fill out the roster, and he therefore shares in any praise should the team achieve success, or blame, if the team does not. This team that Hahn has assembled for 2015 is practically the worst team in the American League, and so to absolve him from any blame or accountability is simply ludicrous. And B.) This season is heading towards Hahn's second last place finish in his three years at the helm. Granted, three years isn't a terribly long time, but if the "best of his abilities" doesn't start turning things around sooner rather than later, then it'll be time to turn to someone with better abilities.
  4. QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 07:20 PM) Hahn has to take the word of his scouts and bosses just like any other GM. He has made an impressive amount of rationally sound baseball moves, given the org's position the last few years. We'll then, he ought to be mighty skeptical by now of "the word of his scouts and bosses", given the current state of the organization. Don't you think?
  5. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 06:55 PM) He shouldn't be co-GM, Rick Hahn has done nothing to have his job questioned, he's a fantastic GM but if the team were to fire Laumann, I would think that Paddy becomes the internal favorite for becoming the new scouting director. Really?!?! How in the world could you make such statements, based on the results of the past three seasons. He's on his way to his second last place finish in three years. That hardly classifies him as a "fantastic GM", of all things, and certainly opens the judgments and decisions he's made to plenty of questions.
  6. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 06:45 PM) This is what they did with Ventura. Rinse and repeat - maybe it will work this time. I wonder why they chose Ventura to being with. Do they have a oldie but goldie dart board to make decisions? This is getting worse then Veeck's circus acts. Lol - well, Veeck did make Don Kessinger "player manager" back in '79. Why doesn't Reinsdorf do the same with Robin, and then throw him out at third base. He can probably still field the position better than Conor, and likely wouldn't hit any worse than the Conor/Gordon platoon.
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:45 PM) That's where I hope Reinsdorf sees the light finally, and allows some major changes with scouting and instruction. The guy hasn't demonstrated the ability to "see the light" for 35 years. Do you really think that's going to change now?
  8. Patience, Peoples. Patience! Mr. Jerry Reinsdorf, he of the "very competitive spirit" Reinsdorfs that Messrs. Williams & Hahn told us so much about after the Melky signing (you remember, when they tried to convince us how above and beyond the team went to sign Cabrera; meanwhile, all that signing did was push the team payroll to 15th in MLB and only $2M ahead of the Royals - yeah, real competitive!), is said to be "very frustrated" with the situation at hand, according to Mr. Hahn in Levine's column yesterday. As frustrated and even more so than any of the fans, quoth Hahn. Ok, fine - as it should be. He's the boss, and the buck stops at his desk for accountability and responsibility for his team and organization's performance. So let's see what this "very competitive spirit" of his has in store for us for leading this franchise out of the complete abyss it finds itself in today. The MLB roster is a mess, and the farm system, which looked to be somewhat on the rise there for awhile, suddenly seems to have taken a step or two backwards. Firing the manager and/or a coach or two isn't going to solve the fundamental problems with this team. The solutions will need to be far more systemic, and I look forward to hearing from Mr. Reinsdorf as to what those will be.
  9. QUOTE (joegraz @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 08:24 PM) Only if he's terminally ill....and no, I'm not hoping for that. But it is, in fact, the only way anything changes. I was being facetious. I expect no substantial changes from the Chairman whatsoever.
  10. Nicely done, Geo. Shark off the hook, if you will, for the loss now.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 08:00 PM) Now that Rodon no longer counts our system is right back to as bad as it was just about any point in the previous 5 years. Not to worry. I read today in Bruce Levine's column that Mr. Reinsdorf is very "frustrated" with the whole situation, so I expect major changes in philosophy and personnel as it relates to drafting and assembling a Major League roster to be forthcoming any day now.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 04:16 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 7m7 minutes ago Chicago, IL Rick Hahn: "We're all in this together. ... We're accountable together." #WhiteSox Hahn: "There does come a point you can only look at the back of a baseball card for so long." Hahn: "It's getting to the point where it's not early anymore." #WhiteSox Daryl Van Schouwen ‏@CST_soxvan 7m7 minutes ago Hahn's view on Ventura hasn't changed. Remains supportive. "We're all in this together." RIck Hahn: "frustration level high but organization believes in this team." Scot Gregor ‏@scotgregor 8m8 minutes ago #WhiteSox GM Rick Hahn says he might have roster moves in mind but not giving timetable Sounds like a bunch of nuttin' from our meatball management.
  13. For a second, just looking at the title of this thread, I thought maybe good, 'ol Uncle Jer may have sold the team and I hadn't yet heard about it. Sigh.....one can dare to dream, can't he?
  14. Does anyone have confidence in the three-headed brain trust of Jerry, Kenny, and Rick to turn around the fortunes of this franchise and deliver results unlike those we've seen in the past decade or for most of their 13 years working together?
  15. If I had a dime for every time Hawk has told us over the past few seasons (and correctly so, btw) about all of the "gift runs" we've given away...
  16. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 01:48 AM) A former reporter said the problem with the organization is that it laid back. That's why they get free agents to come here. Then the organization sucks at developing position players so the roster become casual. Players like Ramirez can't be benched because there is no one to replace him. Maybe a few on the pitching staff may fear they can be replaced but not the position players. How many other organizations that have been this poor at developing position players would keep the same people in tact. There is no accountability other than low attendance. They need to sell this team to someone who might care a little bit more. That is what this franchise DESPERATELY needs - NEW OWNERSHIP! You cannot argue otherwise. Unless fortunes change and soon this year, it will mark the 30th year in 35 years of the current ownership's tenure in which they have FAILED to make it to the postseason. That is a terrible record and it explains why we have the fourth worst attendance in all of baseball. Jerry/Kenny/Rick have had their crack at this working together since '02, and except for one magical year a decade ago, their track record has been abysmal. Our sleeping giant of a franchise and our long suffering fan base so needs a shot of fresh blood in the form of new ownership, it's not funny. It is a fool's errand to think the current regime is capable of future results that won't look similar to that of the past 13 years. Reinsdorf purportedly advised his family not too long ago to sell the team in the future upon his passing. Perhaps if that's such a good idea at some point in the future, maybe he could do his family and all of us a favor by selling now so that this team could finally move in a far more positive direction than it's currently experiencing.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 10, 2015 -> 10:15 PM) Good call, he was out. I'm with you. There was one view there where it looked liked he tagged him on the thigh just before the foot hit the plate.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 10, 2015 -> 09:51 PM) Putnam having a pretty good run recently He is Bruce Sutter-ish when he's on with that splitter. Fun to watch!
  19. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 10, 2015 -> 09:38 PM) If we have a lead going into the ninth, does Robertson pitch again? Or do you go with Putnam? Save situation = Mr. Robertson
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 10, 2015 -> 09:31 PM) Then stop playing him so often against lefties. Couldn't agree more.
  21. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 10, 2015 -> 09:27 PM) LaRoche now has a .778 OPS, when will posters stop including him in the list of underperformers? Any OPS under .800 for your clean-up hitter is never anything worth writing home about.
  22. QUOTE (Chris Sale @ Jun 10, 2015 -> 09:10 PM) Maybe they're trying to spare the fans from the inevitable Hawk rant about the dreaded leadoff walk When Hawk brings up the "dreaded lead off walk", it's never in reference to our hitters. He saves that call for the opposition hitters in a close game in the late innings.
  23. QUOTE (Chris Sale @ Jun 10, 2015 -> 09:03 PM) 3rd leadoff walk. Let's see if we can go 0/3 (not that it's much of a challenge for our offense). Is that what you want, an 0 for 3?
  24. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 10, 2015 -> 08:58 PM) If I was Robin I would take him out after that s***. Put Sanchez in I 100% agree. Errors of such a careless nature can't be tolerated. Not to mention, the game is close, and with guys like Sanchez and Alexei on the bench, you can't afford any further plays like the two we've already seen tonight.
