  1. Cuddyer really helping us out by swinging 3-0 against a pitcher who is clearly not right at the moment.
  2. QUOTE (Real @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 09:40 PM) Gotta love facing a team after they score 50 runs, almost certainly guarantees an offensive drought the day after I luuuuvvvv it when you analyze!
  3. QUOTE (Sox72 @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 09:04 PM) A lot of our recent starts (minus Freddy) actually haven't been all that bad. Oh, you are absolutely right. I just meant a dominating start that gave us a chance to get a much-needed win.
  4. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 09:01 PM) Danks cruising. And this kind of start coming just in the nick of time, after the last five games.
  5. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 09:37 PM) He won 10 games because he was better than the opposing 5th starter 10 times. What ace has Garcia beaten this year. Yeah, I thought so. If he's matched against a higher quality pitcher he's likely to lose because the Sox are probably not going to score many runs off a higher quality pitcher. He's played out that's all it is to it. And if that's surprising to you, sorry. Wake up. Lol - wake up, indeed! Take your own medicine, buddy. 5th starters aren't hired to beat "aces". Aces are meant and paid to beat aces. 5th starters are meant to eat up innings over the course of a 162 game season and, hopefully, try and win in the double digit column in the process. Freddy has done that going into tonight's game, winning as I mentioned ten games through just two thirds of the season. I'll do a little math for you and let you in on the secret that he's on pace for a 15 game win season, which would be absolutely superb for a 5th starter. So as far as Freddy's performance as a 5th starter goes, he's been as good as anyone could have hoped for, tonight's unfortunate outcome notwithstanding.
  6. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 09:24 PM) The Freddy Garcia Experience is OVA! It's a miracle Reinsdorf and company got away this long with this year's version of hoping to catch lighting in a bottle. They need to grow up and start being major players in free agency. I'm sick and tired of weakening one position to shore up another. We should have a decent starter and at least one more bat BEFORE the season started. What the devil are you talking about? Garcia is our #5 starter, and he's already won ten games through two thirds of the season. What more do you expect from a #5 starter?
  7. QUOTE (Real @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 08:41 PM) I'd argue your knowledge of the word 'more' as well, at this point I have the time - argue away.....Champ.
  8. QUOTE (Real @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 08:38 PM) Says somebody who clearly has no clue what wisdom is (or isn't) A bit more than you, based on the evidence surrendered.
  9. QUOTE (Real @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) dont worry about anyone stealing your material, champ. I would certainly hope no one steals any of your pearls of wisdom around here.
  10. QUOTE (Real @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 08:31 PM) Twins own us, indisputable fact. Game #163 of 2008 called and said "Once again, you've said something not-all-that-bright!".
  11. Whoever predicted a 9-8 game may have severely underestimated how this one might end up!
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 07:31 PM) This team needs to regain their swagger as soon as possible. I can't believe this is our lineup tonight in the biggest game of the season. You look at that lineup, and you wonder how the heck we can compete with such a sound Twins team. And they're not even all that sound right now - they're missing Morneau!!
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 11:20 AM) Your attempt at being negative towards negative posters is equally annoying. I'm not being negative in the least bit. Just trying to put things into a better context is all. No offense intended!
  14. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 10:24 AM) I think the Orioles right now are better than the Mariners, and certainly better than at least 4 National League teams. The Mariners? The same Mariners who beat the mighty Yankees two outta three in a series at the end of June/beginning of July? Those Mariners? Gosh, that outcome must have sunk the Yankees season right there and then, I mean, losing a series to the lowly Mariners like that. I'll have to go check to see how they are doing, but I'm sure it's not good. They lost "a" series to a crappy team - end of season!!
  15. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 07:53 PM) I will never really agree with bunting with Juan Pierre on first. I know what you're saying, but with a lefty on the mound, and the fact that Juan does get thrown out a little bit more than one would like, I think the bunt in this situation was warranted.
  16. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 07:44 PM) Let's hope we get to extras. Did you ever have a doubt with Matt Thornton taking the bump?
  17. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 07:40 PM) extras here we come. Well, thanks to the fine work by Sales and Santos, we still have Thornton and Putz to go to in this game, which gives us an advantage over the O's in those extras.
  18. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 07:34 PM) as long as its in loving memory of ursula I wouldn't have it any other way!!
  19. I wouldn't mind coughing up some more of Alex Senelius' dough this inning!
  20. Two of our good, young pitchers keeping us in the game these past two innings. Let's hope to repay our fine pitching this evening with a nice 9th inning rally!
  21. QUOTE (southsidepride15 @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 07:21 PM) I understand. The fact is though is that these types of series' will happen throughout a 162 season, no matter how good of a club you put out there. If the O's are just "bad" and we lose 3-4 to them then are we "bad" or "worse than bad" at 15 games over .500?? All I'm asking is that we don't expect to play .800 ball and run away with it. I want as bad as anyone to pound these teams, but since we're not, the upcoming series' with Det. and Minny are all that much more of a gut check for team called the White Sox that we're all still apparently so unsure of. Thank you - nice post!
