  1. Once again, I’m just talking about the return on the trade for Chris Sale. It needs to be something special, simple as that. It needs to be more special, for example, than the trade of the rental Aroldis Chapman to the Cubs, and look how that’s working out for the Yankees. And for what it’s worth, I actually do think the Sox will come out very nicely on that trade once it’s all said and done. I’m certainly not in any camp that suggests Moncada is a bust. I think he’s going to eventually be a monster, and god only knows what greatness is coming our way with Kopech. But that’s what I would expect when we trade a player of Sale’s caliber at his age with the contact he had. Nothing less!
  2. The response was to a post about the past vs. the present, not about the potential future. But cute use of graphics - best contribution to the conversation thus far!
  3. Lol - geez, you’ve hit rock bottom if Ron is breaking bad on you!
  4. Six straight years of it, whatever it is.
  5. The present is a current 10-1 deficit at the hands of the Royals in the 6th.
  6. What’s beyond understanding is you understanding the simple point I’m trying to make, which is you need to get something mighty special in a return for trade involving the surrender of Chris Sale. Forget the rebuild - just the straight up trade of Sale. Getting anything short of a future star is a future fail of a trade.
  7. The return on the trade of a player of Chris Sale’s caliber IS a BIG DEAL, always, rebuild or otherwise.
  8. Oh, you’re right. You are so right. The return from trading your best asset at the start of a rebuild would mean nothing in regards to the rebuild. What was I thinking! Silly me....
  9. Glad you’re not the GM. Hahn did not enter into the Sale deal thinking it was ok to come out of it without at least one future star to show for it.
  10. State-subsidized profits year in and year out have a way of effecting unusual behaviors...
  11. The “culture of losing” brought to our fan base by the current loser owner of the White Sox is both past and present. Six straight years now of the kind of horrific baseball we’ve witnessed during that span and are now as we currently speak. Nothing past tense about that, and it would explain the team’s current TV ratings which are last on the planet. This of course is reminiscent of the mid-to-late 80s and mid-to-late 90s Reinsdorf teams, but I don’t want to saddle you with too much of the team’s sad history under the current loser owner. I know that’s more than you can handle. Meanwhile, just one lone trip to the postseason in the 13 years now since October 2005, and just four games at that with just one win. Just four playoff games and one win in the last 13 years. Surely you must be looking forward to the eventual change in the team’s ownership with THAT kind of pathetic record on hand.
  12. Nice try, but just five measly trips to the postseason in 38 years for this loser of an owner our fan base continues to be saddled with (including the ten year playoff drought we are currently suffering through, which is MLB’s 4th longest such drought) is an entirely different discussion than the return received on the Sale trade. Btw, why are you always so afraid to discuss the current owner’s record, both on and off the field?
  13. “Who the hell cares?” on the return of a trade involving Chris Sale? Answer - every single, serious White Sox fan, that’s who! And the owner and front office. Didn’t think that needed to be spelled out, but apparently it does.
  14. No one is living in the past. We are talking about the return you get when you trade a top 5 starter in all of baseball, at the age Chris Sale was at and the very team-friendly contract he was under, especially if the return is all prospects. At the very least, you need one premium talent in return who will turn into a star. At least one. or else your team failed in it's scouting and evaluation of the other team's farm system.
  15. As the headliner in the trade for Chris Sale, they most certainly do.
  16. Somethin’ a brewin’ here in the 8th!
  17. Hawk talking about Yaz >>>>>>>>> Benetti talking about waffle cones with Rice Krispies on them
  18. In 64 fewer at-bats, Leury has the same number of hits as Engel, two more homers, four more RBIs, and just one less stolen base. He has a much better arm, and the difference in their range in center field is minimal, especially when you compare the other facets of their respective games. Time to make the change! #startLeuryoverEngel
  19. And in games where the Sox are down 11-2, you have Benetti asking the 71 year-old Stone how his prom was. Excruciating!
  20. He really is, quite the talent. Which is why it’s so odd to see the commissioner shaming him publicly these days the way he is.
  21. Ohtani is the real deal. Very scary up at the plate.
  22. My “One Thing With Ricky” would be to begin starting Leury in center every single night over Engel, effective immediately.
