  1. We already have today's version of Jurickson Profar. His name is Leury Garcia.
  2. QUOTE (SEALgep @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 12:51 PM) https://www.google.com/amp/www.csnchicago.c...home-runs%3famp Teammates are loving this guy, great to see The kid has a fun swagger about him which, in addition to his immense potential as a player, lends itself to a lot of future fun following his career. Also doesn't hurt that he speaks English. He did an interview on the Score last month after the trade and I thought he comported himself quite nicely.
  3. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 06:22 PM) If the ascent to ace is happening, that would greatly speed up the rebuilding efforts. The pitching staff could very well be ready for the most part by 2019. Either way, this would be a great problem for us to have. In a perfect world Hahn finds a way to extend Rodon this offseason, although that's obviously a huge long-shot. Probably not likely with Mr. Boras representing Carlos.
  4. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 11:55 AM) I don't think Engel ever figures it out offensively and I would definitely play Luery over him in CF next year. And I honestly think Willy, Delmonico, & Cordell all deserve playing time over him in LF as well. Best case scenario IMO is Engel hits enough to be a solid 4th OF. Any way we could just combine Delmonico's bat and Engel's glove?
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2017 -> 10:00 PM) Rodon was great, Yoan was great, Delmonico was great and team still lost. Nearly perfect tank game Perfect recap.
  6. Yoan and Nicky trying to help us win this one late!
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2017 -> 09:06 PM) Get the impression Hawk hates Anderson. Oh well, not the first guy dominated by Kimbrel He's been on this choking up, short bat kick as of late, and I think he's aiming those comments at TA.
  8. QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 4, 2017 -> 08:38 PM) His last two starts are super encouraging. Well, he's the heir to the throne, in my opinion; meaning, we've had many, many years now of a lefty serving as the ace of the rotation, in Buehrle and Sale. Seems only fitting the baton now pass to Carlos.
  9. 10 strikeouts and ZERO walks over seven innings for Rodon.
  10. This camera angle directly from center field but not too high is just perfect for gauging balls and strikes.
  11. First of many hits from the right side by Yoan in a White Sox uniform!
  12. Hawk talking "stones" to Stone!
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2017 -> 07:20 PM) Rodon has great stuff tonight And that stuff just minimalized what could have been a big inning for the Carmines.
  14. Impressive at-bat by Nicky, in that situation, off of a lefty.
  15. I'm sort of surprised people are even remotely suggesting either Engel or Tilson as starting in front of Leury next year. Neither of those two guys are elite prospects by any stretch, and Leury has really made a nice breakthrough at the Major League level this year. I think a starting position in the outfield is his to lose at this point.
  16. Davidson could use another Gatorade shampoo and rinse...
  17. I do like the energy Hanson brings to the game.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 09:04 AM) No. In your haste to tell us how evil Reinsdorf is again, you never mentioned who and what was available and for what cost at the 1997 deadline that would have easily made up the 6 games., and forgot the White Sox employ a GM. You're a one trick pony. Reinsdorf, Reinsdorf, Reinsdorf.... SNL should do a skit. Nooooo, we had a GM during that time, a fella as I mentioned earlier named Ron Schueler. Should think I wouldn't have to remind your prescient mind about him, Dick, but apparently I do, and I already did in a post prior to this knee-jerk rant against me, but whatever. Do us all a favor and put the "evil Thad Bosley comments" that you are now railing against to rest by presenting Ron Schueler's statements in 1997 about what "wasn't available and for what cost" at that deadline that caused the team's course of action then.
  19. QUOTE (Quin @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 08:38 AM) How many times have completely different people asked you if Reinsdorf ran over your dog? Either there's actually a Jerry-flattened dog, or you have a legitimate obsession with the man. Well, if anyone ever asked me how many times the owner of the White Sox "ran over my dog", and I didn't answer them, it probably comes down to the very simple answer that "I DON'T OWN A G*DDAMN DOG!". Ok, so that's the answer to that one. NEXT!
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 08:04 AM) What exactly do you hope to accomplish by constantly telling everyone repeatedly at this site how much you hate Reinsdorf? Just curious Don't change my message, please. I've never used the word "hate" when it comes to the owner. I have zero personal animosity to the man, as I've never met him. However, this is a White Sox message board, correct? And Jerry Reinsdorf is the owner of the White Sox, correct? And that means decisions he makes as owner have a direct bearing on the team's results and that which we as fans want to support? Well, do the math. Line up the years and years of those decisions with the results on the field, and see what you get. You get criticism of those decisions given the routine losing of the organization. The original poster of this thread brought up one of those decisions from 20 years ago that happened to be a doozy, and so I shared my point of view on that decision. I think I made valid points, but at no time did I inject emotion suggesting personal hatred for the man. I just want him to stop making bad decisions. Sadly, I've been waiting an awful long time for that to happen.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 07:56 AM) You're right. Not making that trade makes that team at least 6 games better, the amount they were behind when the season ended. Your Reimsdorf obsession is sick, but hilarious at the same time. While everyone else is wondering what the deal is with Tim Anderson when he throws the ball into the stands, I bet you are blaming Reinsdorf. In your haste to try and take issue with my fact-based criticism of the owner who routinely brings you losing White Sox baseball, you conveniently skipped over the part where I said we should have "added" players at that deadline. Isn't that what all teams in contention at the deadline look to do? Add? What's "sick" is the team didn't, and let a team with only 86 wins walk away with the division.
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 06:57 AM) I'm sure JR made the decision to trade the players all by himself Of course not. He had the sage Ron Schueler at his side advising him back then. You remember Ron Schueler, don't you? He was the guy brought in by the genius owner after the 1990 season as the guy who, the owner explained to us at the time, would "get the team from Point B to Point C", meaning a championship. Reinsdorf fired the guy who got the team from "Point A to Point B" through successful drafts and trades that brought the team the likes of Thomas, Ventura, McDowell, Fernandez, Alvarez, Lance Johnson, Sosa, etc. But the genius owner deemed him unable to get the team to this "Point C" apparently because he wasn't very chummy in the office. Meanwhile, when a "Point C" opportunity presented itself in 1997 with the team only 3 1/2 games out of first place on July 31st, Point C general manager and the genius owner went in the direction of the infamous "White Flag" trade. And Point C general manager would go onto never getting the team to Point C, ironically. Still wonder to this day if Point A to Point B general manager could have done so.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 06:53 AM) If you look at the performance of the traded players after the trade, you would realize he was correct. Karhner was fine as the closer the rest of the year. Darwin was no loss. Alvarez was a loss, but did pitch like crap the rest of the season. Foulke and Howry helped the team get good again. If you look at the final record of that season, and see the Sox only finished six games back of a team that won the division with a mere 86 wins, then you would realize the owner was not correct in his conclusion a all. Instead of subtracting players the team should have looked to add players to close that measly 3 1/2 game gap, which by season's end, only grew to six games. Again, Cleveland only won 86 games that season. It's not like they ran off with some insurmountable lead. How many times do you see a team that's only 3 1/2 games out of playoff contention fold their cards at the trade deadline like the Sox did that year? If there are, they're not many, and for those that have, they probably received the same fair criticism Reinsdorf did when this ill-advised decision was made.
  24. QUOTE (Soha @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 02:27 PM) I agreed with JR. They weren't catching the Indians. They of the 86 entire wins to win the division that year, Indians? Yes, I can see how the genius owner could reach that conclusion then. I mean, how can you catch 86 wins. Would be a fool's errand to even think about trying!
  25. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 10:20 PM) Look around the league and the four major sports though, how many owners have actually been great? Owners don't get fired and the majority suck. But that's capitalism and JR is going nowhere. I've been one if the biggest critics of JR on this site. His problem was never being cheap, the Sox have spent compared to their revenue, it was always just his blind loyalty. Now that he finally bought in to the rebuild, just sit back and enjoy for a little. You can be head of the Anti -JR movement as soon as it meets again I hear you. I would say, though, my criticism of Sox ownership expands beyond the disastrous Reinsdorf years. I've said it before and I'll say it again: the next successful White Sox owner will be the first successful White Sox owner. I mean, good lord, it's almost hard to believe this charter American League franchise could have been so snake-bitten from an ownership perspective since Day One. From Old Man Comiskey to Reinsdorf, none of them have a record of achievement to be proud of. As for Reinsdorf, according to today's Wall Street Journal article, apparently Reinsdorf's baseball people, Hahn & Williams, proposed this rebuild business long before the team finally embarked on the process. The owner apparently rejected those proposals, and then 2010-2016 happened. This is the kind of decision-making our fan base has had to suffer through from baseball's "longest tenured owner". So instead of enjoying the "rebuild" as you suggest I do during the 2010-2016 timeframe, I, like you, instead had to endure the horrific baseball we saw these past several years before the baseball guys were finally able to convince the stubborn owner to move in the advisable direction of a rebuild. As for the rebuild itself, I am certainly encouraged by the moves Hahn has made. I am excited about the cadre of elite prospects who have entered the organization. What else do I have to get excited about these days as a White Sox fan? And there's a lot more losing coming our way on top of all of the losing we've all witnessed these past five years, for sure, and certainly since 2005. But, as is always the case as a White Sox fan, you just continue to hope for the best. And for a new owner who might just turn the tide on the fortunes of the organization, once and for all.
