QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 4, 2017 -> 10:51 AM) But they are trying to fix it and yet you're still b****ing. Look, you have some legitimate points, but you repeat them over and over again despite the team doing exactly what you want them to do. This rebuild is going to be a lengthy process and you really need to give them time to execute on it before popping off with the same complaints ad nauseam. So you have no skepticism whatsoever in the "they"/"them" part of the "trying to fix it" equation? That's really my main point. You have the same management team being led by the same owner (who once brought you Ken Harrelson as GM) who broke this thing in the first place but who are now running the "lengthy process" of "trying to fix it". Hmmmm...now why would anyone be skeptical or critical of that? Look, what I want and what anyone who visits this site wants is winning Chicago White Sox baseball. We don't have that now, we haven't had it in quite some time, and it's uncertain at the moment as to when we'll see it again. This predicament is due to ineffective management of this organization, starting with the owner. Until the situation changes, until the results on the field change, be it due to the current management finally figuring it out and getting it right, or a new regime coming in and righting the ship, you should expect to continue to hear voices of dissent. It's only natural. If anything, you should feel lucky you don't read more complaints, quite frankly.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 07:13 PM) There's no problem with voicing your discontent with ownership, but I think most of us have a problem with jumping in and pissing on practically every other thread. I'm not saying it's necessarily you, and maybe it's mostly greg, but some of us still like to follow the team and try to get excited about the players and would rather do it without a doomsday post derailing every conversation. This thread is about team attendance, and therefore the spectrum of opinion can and should be expected to cover a wide range of views. From the excitement of following players this year like Avi, Jose, Yolmer, Kahnle, etc., who have given some reason to pay attention to this last place team, all the way to the frustration with an owner and his management team who have now brought us the fifth summer in a row of completely meaningless baseball in the middle of the summer. A thread like this will cover the whole gamete. To give this some further context, we the fans have not had a reason to get truly excited about a competitive White Sox team since Obama's first term, and the team has not made it to the postseason since George W.'s second term. There's your reason for the "doomsday" posts. Fix that and those posts go away, or at least decrease dramatically.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 05:54 PM) Sox spend PLENTY of money to win a title. They've sucked primarily because of two things: (1) an overly aggressive contention strategy that continually bet heavy on a stars-and-scrubs approach, and (2) and eight year stretch of terrible drafting and player development. They'll be relevant again when they start to consistently get those two things right. And most signs point to them beginning to do it. It's going to take some time. If you don't like it, go watch hockey. I don't think it's necessarily fair to tell the long-suffering yet faithful fans to go away and watch hockey because they are voicing their discontent with the continued failures of the organization. Better served to join the increasing echoes of those looking for a change in ownership, given how the current owner (who is the LONGEST TENURED OWNER in MLB, mind you!) is just now "beginning" to "get those two things right" you referred to. Almost 40 years at the helm and they're just now getting around to that. Unbelievable. You'd think with having the longest tenured owner that the Sox would be the model franchise by now, the one by which the others are judged, with the "White Sox Way" copied over and over and over again. Yet it's almost exactly the opposite. Excessive failure on the field year in and year out, resulting in bottom-of-the-barrel attendance and TV/radio ratings. All of this for a franchise residing in a big market. Again, unbelievable, and again, time for a new owner.

QUOTE (The Mighty Mite @ Jul 2, 2017 -> 06:34 PM) Actually we are competing with the American League and we need to be as good as the Yankees, Red Sox and for now the Astros. The White Sox are a big market team and need to step up and bring in big market players. Correct, but for whatever reason(s), the current owner just cannot figure out how to operate his franchise in a "big market" manner. And the fact he's been at this for almost 40 years now and STILL can't get it right doesn't create any confidence that he will anytime soon. So we'll just have to hold tight until the next ownership group comes in to stand this organization up in a way befitting a team located in the city of Chicago.

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 09:09 PM) Frazier at-bats really bum me out. And nothing has changed on that front.
-
You just have to think there is some showcasing going on by the Yanks by having Andujar up and playing against the Sox.
-
Frazier at-bats really bum me out.

Let's get Rodon four runs, get him out of there, have the bullpen hold the lead, and give the guy a win in his first start back.
-
A base hit here by Engel would be nice.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2017 -> 08:43 PM) Can't blame the fans for not supporting the team this year during the rebuild... The ball club's continued pitiful attendance has nothing to do with a rebuild and everything to do with a pitiful string of fielding a non-winning team year in and year out.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 09:13 PM) Hawk is a good mood tonight if he could bring this effort more often I'd like him again. He's been enjoyable, and in a good "rhythm" with Stone. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 07:41 PM) He's such a f***ing hack I feel the way I do waiting out the clock on this guy similar to the way I did this time of year of Dunn's last year. -

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 07:05 PM) Because of the fact we are not there yet with the 3b prospects being ready I would keep Todd for two years more. I think he and Davidson can alternate between 3b and DH and spell Abreu on occasion. Give Stoddard stability contractwise might help him relax and hit consistently I'm more concerned about the stability of our viewing pleasure, which watching another two years of this kind of production in Stoddard's declining years would not contribute to. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 11:16 PM) 22. AZ 23,477 23. Minn 23,078 24. Pitt 23,012 25. Cincy 22,451 26. Cleveland 22,030 27. CHW 21,019 28. Miami 20,456 29. Oakland 17,573 30. TB 14,408 With the Buehrle retirement game next Sat and Mon-Thurs home series against the Yankees, they will be doing just fine for 33 games Lol - no they won't be doing "just fine". Quite the contrary! As long as this large market team's arrendance figures continue to be nestled in with those of the likes of Oakland, Tampa Bay, Miami, and Cleveland, there will be nothing "fine" about it.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 02:36 PM) It hasn't been said yet by the organization, but I really would bet money that their willing to pick up a large chunk of money in a deal went down a lot with the signing of Luis Robert. That is a $50 million check that Jerry and the partners have to write now. Are they going to be willing to write another $10 million check to Washington? Eh, I can't see it. The cost is only sunk if the assumption is that they couldn't take less in a trade to get someone to take the contract. "Jerry and the partners" ought to really check in with their financial planners before they make any foolish decisions, despite how those decisions might benefit the Sox' fan base (as if THAT'S ever been a factor in any decision-making the past four decades). Wouldn't want to threaten Reinsdorf's status as "billionaire owner" by asking him to sign players who might just lift this franchise out of its near decade-long postseason-appearing drought.

QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 10:00 PM) I agree with this. I can't see any team saying to the Sox they want Gonzalez. Guy was great last year, but trash this year. He's 33 with big warning signs as his K/9 way down from his career norm, HR/9 way up. Guy just doesn't have it and is a DFA candidate come late July if he keeps it up. He is the perfect ingredient to a formula comprising a rebuilding team waiting for a wave of elite prospects to get ready for the bigs down in the minors, and an organization in need for a high draft pick next season.

QUOTE (Tony @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 09:02 PM) Then you remember how much he is making a season and you don't feel so bad for him... Good. Point.

The whole Sox Math and prize shelf seems so beneath Steve Stone. He's been around too long to have to play into such an amateurish bit like this.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 08:20 PM) Still find it fascinating he's a little over 200 days older than Kris Bryant I'm with you on that, which helps fan the winds of optimism on him.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 08:13 PM) No rush at all. I also think he would love to stay if they decide during next year to extend him If the Sox get a sense this is for real, I'm sure they'll try and extend him for his prime years, which interestingly enough, would align nicely with the rebuild timeline.
