  1. Lol - Hawk & Stoney, methinks the juice had a whole lot more to do with Sosa's so-called success than any toe tap.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 09:43 AM) It just amazes me how much the ball is jumping off of his bat this year. Up until this year, he seemed overmatched at the Major League level. Thus far this year, he seems like he has a chance up at the plate. Hope he can keep it up, because he's looking pretty good all-around at the moment.
  3. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 25, 2017 -> 08:41 PM) That was a great AB There's been a few of those this inning!
  4. I'd like many more thoughtful conversations like this one between Benetti and Stoney and much, much less of the corny back-and-forths.
  5. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 24, 2017 -> 09:19 PM) Matt Davidson is a god. I'm ever so slowly starting to forget about Addison Reed!
  6. Davidson hung in on every single pitch of that at-bat against a guy who should really give him fits.
  7. Let's see if we can get that E-5 run back in our half of the inning.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Apr 21, 2017 -> 09:56 AM) How many of those contracts turned out well? The better question is how many of those contracts led the signing team to more trips to and success in the postseason? Because if you haven't noticed, this team is on its way to its ninth year since it made the playoffs, and will only have made it there (barely) once in the 12 years since 2005. So my point is, the strategy to avoid signing any contracts greater than $68 million, unlike 27 of the other MLB ball clubs have, has not resulted in success. And I would submit it's one of many reasons why the culture of losing continues to prevail at 35th and Shields.
  9. QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 20, 2017 -> 09:55 PM) Stop that. Only the White Sox have a history of not spending big money. Every other team has a payroll at least twice that of the Sox. The Sox are one of only three teams to never hand out a contract greater than $70 million.
  10. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 19, 2017 -> 08:18 PM) Obviously there is a lot to like in their system, but it's way to jump to any conclusions on the progress of their rebuild. They need young guys to establish themselves at the major league level and have extended periods of success. Sanchez had an insane start to his major league career, but let's see him sustain even 70% of that production. Judge is hitting HRs on 44% of his flyballs, that's not going to last. Servino has been impressive this year, but it's only been over three starts. At some point the league will adjust to these guys and these players will need to adjust accordingly. That's easier said than done and why we see young players regularly flame out after initial bouts of success. The Yankees have a long way to go before I can say they are well on their way to a successful rebuild. Right now, they are far from becoming the next Cubs or Astros. All I said was their rebuild seemed to be humming along nicely. No conclusions drawn yet, and certainly they are not at the Cubs or Astros level just yet, but seemingly trending in that direction.
  11. Avi laying off all of those down-and-away pitches was nice to see.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 08:03 PM) Very debatable Not if he's to be judged by White Sox team results.
  13. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 07:50 PM) Hahn's a smart guy. This team won't sway him. Harvard book smart, yes. Baseball general manager smart, no results yet to support that claim.
  14. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 07:45 PM) Game might be a serious challenge for the Sox to rebound tonight considering it's 7-0 Bronx bombers More like a serious reminder to continue on with the rebuild efforts
  15. Wow - some nice, knee-buckling curveballs from Shields today.
  16. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 15, 2017 -> 01:46 PM) You don't play baseball games for the sole purpose of trading your players. Why don't we just enjoy baseball and root for the Sox for awhile Sadly, sometimes you do have to play baseball with a primary purpose of trading your good players, when your plans for trying to win with those players have failed so miserably. Wouldn't it have been nice if the owner and his current management team could have figured out a way in the past several years to make the kinds of decisions that would have resulted in success on the field which would have avoided the need to discuss having to trade these players now? Based on your consistent commentary on the matter, you are obviously content with any form of baseball, winning or losing, as long as it has the White Sox stamp on it. That's fine for those who set the bar as low as you seemingly do, but for those who would like to return to the ranks of the winning, you should probably pull back on the criticism of those who don't share your willingness to tolerate the lack of winning of this franchise.
  17. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 08:26 PM) But that seems a lot more fixable than "You know Stoney, this situation reminds me of the time..." followed by a story that no one under 50 can relate to. Meh, everyone is entitled to their opinions, but significantly more relevant people (who understand broadcasting) share my opinion. Your problem with Benetti is he is new. That's fine, he has room to improve. Hawk has been on the downward swing since we missed the playoffs in 2006. Please continue to share your considerable and superior understanding of broadcasting because it is ever so enlightening. And while you're at it, any hints on how to get better at the "Sox Math" nightly exercise would be greatly appreciated, too. Now that's some great baseball broadcasting going on there, I'll tell ya. Perfect for the under 50 crowd!
  18. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 08:24 PM) He has been a little too silly and needs to focus on baseball, but Hawk is bad by comparison. Where Benetti makes a dumb joke, Hawk makes an incorrect or unprovable statement. Hawk phoned it in a long time ago. Yawn. Wrong.
  19. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 08:12 PM) Hawk and Stone are easily the worst broadcast team in baseball. Do they raise your self esteem or something? Not by a long shot.
  20. QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 07:55 PM) Maybe it's just me but I cant watch the Sox broadcast until Hawk gets back. Yes.
