  1. I don't see why the Rangers wouldn't pursue AJ after all the money they were going to throw at the most expensive FA pitcher on the market. Are they really going to settle on Geovany Soto as their starting catcher?
  2. BREAKING: Royals acquire James Shields and Wade Davis from TB for Wil Myers and other prospects.
  3. BREAKING: Royals acquire James Shields and Wade Davis from TB for Wil Myers and other prospects.
  4. The Fenway game when Ross hit the walk-off three run bomb was by far the worst for me. I remember I was just getting ready to go see "The Dark Knight Rises" midnight premiere with some of my friends, and that loss was a serious buzzkill before leaving for the theater.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 12:45 PM) Holy hell this post is all kinds of wrong. Uh, no. As someone who works for one of the bigger animal shelters in Chicago and sees first-hand how people cope with pet loss on a daily basis, I can tell you have no idea what you're talking about. I'm not about to blame Beckham's dog's death on his shortcomings at the plate the last three years. However, if his dog has been sick the last month or so during a time when, as others have pointed out, he's been more abysmal than usual, it's perfectly legitimate to point to that as a source of distraction.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 08:22 AM) Apparently Gordo's dog died last night. If his dog has been sick and it's been distracting him, I can't blame him at all. Similar to how Dunn's family problems probably contributed to his performance last year.
  7. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 11, 2012 -> 09:02 AM) I think we have 5 walk offs this year and I know for sure our bench has done 2 of them. Escobar had one and now Danks. And Hudson, as well.
  8. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 01:35 AM) Thats quite a story. I think I like him more now knowing he's a Jew and not a Greek.
  9. So is this deal still going on? I can't find anything anywhere online mentioning $5 tickets.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 7, 2012 -> 02:52 PM) Perhaps a more disheartening start to the season than the White Sox last year with Pierre/Thornton blown saves. Eh, not really, since the Sox actually had high expectations last year.
  11. QUOTE (coco1997 @ Mar 31, 2012 -> 11:55 PM) Trayce Thompson is white.... I apologize if I offended anyone. I've honestly only seen him at-bat once and the thought hadn't even crossed my mind that he was bi-racial. Carry on.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 31, 2012 -> 04:22 PM) Two of our better prospects in Mitchell and Trayce Thompson are African-American. Trayce Thompson is white....
  13. Haven't really been following ST as much as I'd like to. Any chance Escobar makes the team?
  14. QUOTE (mumbles3k @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 11:51 PM) I like the idea of wearing retro uniforms on Sundays, and I also like these particular uniforms, but 1972 seems like an odd year to commemorate. Well, it is the 40th anniversary.
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 21, 2011 -> 12:38 PM) Washington is definitely my pick of where he'll end up. They aren't afraid to open the wallet, and it's a good fit for Buehrle. But would Mark really want to spend the last 2-3 years of his career on a team that probably can't contend for at least another few years?
  16. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Nov 12, 2011 -> 09:29 PM) personally i love the Miami Marlins logo and uniform. Very art deco, very "Miami". And that new stadium? holy crapppp! I think I've determined that my biggest issue with the new uniforms is the text style of the "MIAMI" and "MARLINS" on the front. If they had retained the script they used on the old Florida Marlins uniforms, they'd be a vast improvement.
  17. Met Frank and got a picture with him as well as an autographed can, which he signed 'FRANK THOMAS #35, 93 94 AL MVP". In case he needed to remind me.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 11:32 PM) With Mark being so bad lately, there's actually a good chance we can retain him. I don't know if many other teams will go that hard after him knowing that he will break down in the second half of the season. Bad? Mark had a couple of back to back starts in which he got knocked around, but before that he tied a franchise record with 18 consecutive games allowing just three or less runs.
  19. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 10:08 AM) They'll have to beef up security to track down the boo birds and give them stern warnings about hurting the players' feelings.
  20. GREAT job by Frasor/Crain. Not the Seattle radio psychiatrist, but the late inning White Sox bullpen tandem.
  21. * John Danks will get his first win of the season against the Chicago Cubs and will then win 5/6 of his next starts * Ramon Castro will hit a dramatic 3-run walkoff bomb in late September that will knock a team out of contention * In an act of perfect revenge, Phil Humber will no-hit the Minnesota Twins at Target Field during the two teams' last meeting of the season.
  22. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ May 15, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) You keep talking about all this damage done with the Swisher trade and it baffles me. How does this team miss Gio when this team is currently using a 6 man rotation? Kenny wouldn't have been so desperate to trade for the albatross that is Jake Peavy if the Sox had still had Gonzalez at the time.
