  1. QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Sep 20, 2015 -> 11:55 AM) I would try Pro Jersey Sports in Downers Grove or Grandstand on 35th. I'm sure they both do custom letters/numbers, just not sure what styles they have. I'd imagine you could get something done that you're pretty happy with. I just contacted Pro Jersey Sports and it sounds like they can help me out. Couldn't find the '42 throwback so I had to settle on the '53 one, which is still a great jersey in its own right. Thanks!
  2. The Cubs have Mark Melancon's number this year. What a joke.
  3. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 20, 2015 -> 07:30 PM) The season may have looked much different with Adam Lind and Miguel Montero actually. Also check out Chris Bassitt's numbers with Oakland. Much better than Samardzija's.
  4. In hindsight Hahn would've made more of a push to acquire Adam Lind (which apparently he tried to do) and maybe Miguel Montero or Francisco Cervelli.
  5. I'm not sure if this is the right section for this, but what the hey. I'm getting married next month and want to get my best man a custom Cubs uniform with his name on the back. I found out his favorite Cubs uniform is from 1942. However, I'm pretty sure it's impossible to get that style personalized. To my knowledge most teams only offer their current uniform for customization. I was wondering if anyone knew of a place that would personalize a throwback uni (assuming I can find one in that style that has a blank back). Thanks!
  6. As far as the Dodgers go, I'd also ask for catcher Austin Barnes along with Seager and whatever else the package for Sale would include.
  7. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 19, 2015 -> 10:55 AM) Seager and Urias would have to be included, minimum, but I wouldn't be surprised if Hahn needed another top prospect or two as well. But I still think it's unlikely that the Sox move him at all. We can't discount the past 4 years of dominance because of 2 or 3 bad starts in a lost season. I understand that. However, I believe Sale is our best means to totally revitalize our lineup for the foreseeable future. The problem is, if you screw up a Sale trade, you set this franchise back many years.
  8. Maybe it's just my emotions getting the better of me after his last couple starts but I'm no longer completely opposed to the idea of trading Chris Sale. If I'm Rick Hahn I take a good hard look at the state of our offense and see what a team like the Dodgers would give us for Chris. The Dodgers are maybe the only team, IMO, who would be willing to part with anything close to Sale's value. Of course, I would also want a high-end pitching prospect in the deal to somewhat offset the blow of losing Sale.
  9. It's time to euthanize Gordon Beckham.
  10. QUOTE (RegionSox @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 04:33 PM) I can't see how a better offense would change how well he pitches, unless you are looking at something like Wins. That's a pretty bad way to judge the pitcher though. How about the defense behind him?
  11. I feel like this front office would completely screw the pooch on any trade involving Sale which is the biggest reason I'd be reluctant to trade him.
  12. Seager and Gutierrez just killing the Sox this series.
  13. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Aug 29, 2015 -> 09:46 AM) The Cubs only got two of their pieces on the current team through the draft, every other major piece came through free agency or a trade (Rizzo, Arrieta, Russell, Montero, Fowler, Lester, Hammel, every good pitcher in their bullpen). In all fairness, Epstein originally drafted Rizzo. He just found a way to get him back via trade once he took over the Cubs.
  14. Kershaw mowed through the Cubs lineup tonight. 14 Ks.
  15. QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 12:39 PM) Trayce Thompson .522/.560/.957/1.517 in 25 AB I really hope Trayce can sustain these numbers.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 04:06 PM) The Sox have a young, cost-controlled trio of two elite lefties and another in the making. They have a stable of talented, right handed arms coming up. I'd rather put money towards the offense than getting rid of one Sale-Q-Rodon and giving up a pick for Mark. If they somehow clear Danks, then yes, sign Buehrle. If they trade Quintana for a haul, sign Buehrle. But don't sign Buehrle for the sake of signing Buehrle, which many want to do. Except that this organization has failed in that regard over the past decade or so. Who was the last free agent hitter the Sox brought in who wasn't a total bust? The verdict is still out on Melky. Juan Pierre?
  17. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 01:03 PM) Is it out of the question to see the Sox letting Shark go, taking the comp pick, trading Q and then actually signing a mid level starter from FA? A guy like Latos or Kennedy could probably be had on a 1 or 2 year deal while they try to build a little more value for next years free agency. Maybe even a Mark Buehrle goodbye tour or something. I can't imagine a scenario in which the Sox *don't* bring Mark back this winter, unless he completely reverses course and either signs an extension with Toronto or goes somewhere else (like St. Louis). He's already made it clear he's not retiring after 2015. Buehrle is still incredibly durable and consistent even at his age and would be a great mentor for our young pitching staff.
  18. QUOTE (SpringfieldFan @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 11:12 AM) They were bad enough then, but I can only imagine what they are going to looks like if anyone wears the pants in the baggy down to the shoes style. It should be mandatory that all the players wear high socks/stirrups for this game, just as they all did for the '59 throwbacks last Friday.
  19. Trade Quintana for a haul and then sign Buehrle for a few years.
  20. Bullpen has been playing with fire but keeps getting it done. Too bad the offense can't get a clutch hit to save its life.
