White Sox News Conference Coming Up Live on ESPNews
WookieOnRitalin replied to sin city sox fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Barrett was in the wrong and made the incident occur. After you see the video and read the comments from those involved, it's becomes clear who is at fault. Anderson will probably be the player from the Sox who serves the most games. It's just funny to see that the Cubs have really just bottomed out at this point. This is turning into an ugly season for them. -
No offense guys, but you are tragically overreacting to Cliff's performance. You sound like Bulls fans after one loss (time to trade this guy, that guy). It's a consensus that Cliff had an amazing year last year. He will be a solid contributer this year. I don't all of the sudden see his stuff going down the tubes. The problem Cliff has ALWAYS had is locating his fastball. What did he do last year? He located. I trust in Coop and AJ to make sure he keeps locating. It's a long season guys and this is just one game. Not everyone can be cy young material right out of the gate. Cliff will get better as the season rolls along.

The guy had another 3 hit game tonight. He's hitting .406 on the season since being called up. 25 hits in 66 at bats. The guy is quite simply in a groove and I'm glad he's having success in Seattle, but too bad for the Pale Hose to lose a young player like that at a 'need' position in my mind. I don't know if he'll be able to stay this consistent, even to a .300 level at the major league level, but he is obviously doing something right. Another good prospect that slipped through the cracks I guess, but every organization has a few of those out there so its not really that bad.

So whats the roster looking like now? 1: Pods (LF) 2: Rowand (CF) 3: Frank (DH) 4: Konerko (1B) 5: Dye (RF) 6: SS? 7: Crede (3B) 8: Harris (2B) 9: Insert Catcher Here And our rotation? 1: Freddy 2: Mark 3: FA 4: Jose 5: Garland I would hope the next money would be spent on a TOP OF THE LINE PITCHER or a TOP OF THE LINE SS because we could use both BAD. The lineup lacks power and the pitching staff lacks consistency. I would choose pitcher because I believe that pitching is the best solution to the Sox's problems.
-
Anyone else noticing that the power in the middle of our lineup is dwindling fast? Are we expecting Jermaine to absolutely destroy the baseball next year (and that is if he stays healthy)? How much longer can we rely on Frank and the largely inconsistent Paul Konerko? I agree we need to improve our middle defense and our pitching but its not going to make a bit of difference if we can't put some runs up on the board.

Freddy Rock OR Mark Buehrle ????

Joe is doing a solid job this year. I think he's had some trouble adjusting to the pitching over the past two years because look at his walk totals over the course of his career. Very poor walk to strikeout ratio. It seems more like Joe is seeing the ball better now. His previous month high for walks was 11 back in July of 2003. Right now he has 9 walks on June 19th. Let's see if Joe can break that total because Joe should be averaging 10-15 walks a month. As long as Joe concentrates on staying on top of the ball, driving it, and seeing the ball better, he'll have a successful season.

Frank is the best 1B in the American League, hands down. Who's putting up better numbers? Ortiz has more RBIs Here's your AL 1B rankings: 1) Frank 2) Ortiz 3) Hafner 4) Sweeney 5) Konerko

I think disrupting our 1-2 at this point is not going to be smart. We need our speedier guys in Uribe and Harris at the 1-2. I think that's a key. I think something needs to get figured out between the 3-5 in regards to Maggs, Frank, and Carlos. If I wanted to be less disruptive, I'd put Maggs in at 5 and keep 1-4 the same. When you're getting production like that out of 1-4, you don't mess with it. Call me superstitious, but that's baseball. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

If I were the Diamondbacks I'd be selling Randy Johnson to the highest bidder come the deadline. They're team needs far more help, especially with Sexson looking at SEASON ENDING surgery. Randy is truely their most VALUABLE commodity. Plus he should be used to help secure more prospects for the future. If Randy TRULY wanted to help out the Arizona Diamondbacks he would tell them to use him to get them some serious help. Their team lacks serious power outside of Sexson (out for the year most likely) and Gonzo. They could use a few more starters considering that they have lost two starters since last year (Shilling, Batista) AND Brandon Webb has seen his struggles lately. They need starting pitching BAD and I believe that Randy could get them a few good prospects as well as help elsewhere.

Is it me or have ALL OF YOU forgotten about Pudge? What in the hell has Jorge Posada done this year so far to LEAPFROG Victor Martinez LET ALONE Pudge. Their stats comparitively: Pudge: .328, 7 HR, 23 R, 39 RBI Victor: .287, 9 HR, 26 R, 39 RBI Posada: .295, 8 HR, 26 R, 28 RBI

I think this warrants some serious discussion, but lets step it up a notch. I guess I want to ask the board two questions (if the 5th spot can't be worked out within the organization): Who would you like to fill our 5th starter spot who we might acquire with parting with somebody? Who would like to fill the 5th spot that you think we could get without disturbing the team?
-
Politte would be great if he knew how to locate a god damn fastball. He throws 96, but he doesn't know where its going. Coops needs to help him locate that fastball. If he located it, the guy could dominate.

Alright, I am one of those people who puts ZERO into these Rankings. Teams have highs and lows. I won't feel comfortable until we're about 20 games over .500. Come on guys....Cincinatti at 3? Can anyone name their starting five? (no cheating, off the top of your head) Cinci is just in a groove like us. We're grooving. Taking 2 of 3. That's all that matters. The thing about this year is that this has been a TEAM effort. The team is energized. Smiles are everywhere. Everybody is rooting for everybody. It's just a good time for all. I think these guys are just having fun. They aren't kids anymore, but they sure feel like kids.

Rex, I wasn't speaking to you...I believe I was speaking to Jordan's comments Anyway I want Cotts here not because I just RATHER HAVE HIM HERE... I want him here because I think he can help us.. If I didn't believe that, then why would I want him up...? I want him up because I think he can succeed, not regress
-
Of course there is pressure... I'm not going to deny the pressure If we have an asset of that of Neal Cotts, we should be able to use him... When you got an offense like ours to help take some of that pressure of him... If he comes up and only gives up 4 runs in 6 1/3, then he will have the weight of that first game off of his shoulders and in the next start will have much much much more confidence and you will see that his STUFF will take over rather the pressure... If we are so worried about the pressure for Cotts, are we always going to feel this way about him no matter WHEN HE COMES UP? If he believes he can come up here and get the job done, then why not
-
How would bringing up Cotts hurt his development? What else does he have to develop? A Perfect Game? Sooner or later he's gotta come up and face the big boys, and he's ready He has better stuff than Wright and Porzio so what would be the big deal about bringing him up now? You can't shield a kid from something he was destined to do
-
Wright nor Porzio had the kind of numbers Cotts has had in the minors... To assume that Cotts would get pounded is beyond stupid... Hey man, look at Zito, he just got POUNDED... It happens, jesus, its not the end of the world... But the reason why I'm fed up with Wright is because he has clearly been put into the situation again adn again and again and again and again and again...and failed... You ever thought of the possibility of Cotts actually being the final piece of the rotation? I prefer to be optimistic than pessimistic... It is not completely out of the realm of possibility that he comes up and has success
-
Are you seriousley going to compare Cotts to Porzio and Wright? I hope not.... The next time the 5th spot comes up, it will be At Chicago against Oakland... You could be looking at August 8th or 9th could be a possibility... We brought up Garland and Buehrle in 2000... Why not Cotts in 2003?
-
I think he has used up every chance that the White Sox have given them... This is truely the last straw with him... You are telling me Neal Cotts isn't a realistic option now? It may be too early, but at this point, Neal Cotts can do no worse than anyone else in that 5th spot in the rotation...
-
Maybe we can put him out there in situations instead of Rick "Hammered Every Game" White... New Nickname for Shoenweiss: Fo Sho
-
Agreed... Dotel and Wagner are the best 1-2 combo in baseball As for the AL? The Angels bullpen is clearly the best... But their starting pitching is horrible...You ever look at some of those Angel boxscores? Thier starters go 5 1/3 and the bull pen cleans up the mess... Its ridiculous... Yankees Bullpen is always going to be solid I'd rank them like this Donnely-Percy Benitez-Rivera Marte-Gordon Hawkins-Guardado
-
I don't know I thought I throw a ridiculous thread out there... Might be Koch too, I mean, he must have no energy left for the games man...Thats why he's sucked
-
Which one of our players gets laid the most? My vote... Marte
-
With Mags.... 2b-Willie Harris LF-Reed DH-Lee/Thomas RF-Mags 1B-Konerko(if he gets his act together) CF-Anderson 3B-Crede SS-Hummel C-Olivo Starting 5: Buehrle Cotts Garland Honel (a mystery) Bullpen: Wunsch Damaso Dunn Malone (the rest are a mystery) Without Maggs: 2b-Willie Harris LF-Reed DH-Lee/Thomas 1b-Konerko RF-Borchard CF-Anderson 3b-Crede SS-Hummel C-Olivo Not bad at all...I bet the Tigers wish they could be that optimistic....
