  1. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:13 PM) Figgins is unhappy in Seattle and that would likely account for a large portion of his suckiness. If the Mariners are committed to Wakamatsu, they might dump salary to move Figgins, who plays 3B a lot better than Teahen or Viciedo. That said, this would be a move that the Sox would explore in the off-season, not now. Too many 1B/3B on the current roster. I also doubt that Wakamatsu is managing the Mariners next season, so it may be a moot point. He and Griffey didn't speak for the two weeks prior to Griffey's retirement, and there are rumors that he forced him out. My guess is that they fire Wakamatsu before dealing Figgins.
  2. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:31 PM) Ken_Rosenthal Exec on Dunn: "He's not going anywhere. Bank on it." #Nationals #WhiteSox #Rays #Tigers #MLB UGH..... I'd take a waiver claim on manny + Jackson, assuming we can afford the money on manny's deal, i don't really want to give up on jackson since Coop says he has always liked him
  3. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:13 PM) Scott is NOT a rental player. He's still under team control for 2 more years via arbitration. per Cot's contracts:
  4. Scott will get the O's a decent return..but nothing amazing, he's a rental player like Dunn I think Ozzie would rather have Scott than Dunn to be honest, he can play defense 45 minutes left boys
  5. sweet, an automatic loss out of the 5th spot for the rest of the year
  6. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:31 PM) Um they get two picks out of it. And for a guy who loves to draft, those two picks mean the world to Rizzo. Don't assume they're getting two picks. He might accept arbitration if his arb value is high enough
  7. QUOTE (wsgdf_2 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:15 PM) Bobby's one. wow, this is the first i've heard his name mentioned with PED's but it wouldn't surprise me
  8. If he's on the DL, and the 3rd time this year, then f*** that. Not unless they're giving him to us
  9. QUOTE (Pumpkin Escobar @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:22 PM) I know they're saying these guys are off the market but if not, I find it hard to believe Jackson isn't vastly more appealing to them than Hudson. If we are keeping Jackson, then so be it, but if you can land Fielder over Dunn for Jackson and the same prospects, I'd probably go with Cecil Jr. Not getting fielder without including one of either Danks or Floyd, and probably Jackson, since Kenny made it oddly clear that Beckham is untouchable
  10. Hmm teams looking for relief help..
  11. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:18 PM) I hate to sound like Hawk, but where would he play? Also, yeah, Figgins is terrible this year. And considering the amount of money he is owed over the next 3 years, he ain't worth the risk, especially for someone who would only be a utility backup player for us, like Lillibridge currently is. Talk to me when the Mariners are willing to pay over half of the almost 30 million or so he is owed for the next 3 years. Otherwise, GMFAB. Lillibridge would go back to Charlotte, and Kotsay would probably be released or traded. Stop it with the f***ing Kotsay love, the dude is GARBAGE. They even had a f***ing bat-burning ceremony to basically say, Ok. Let's try this crazy ass s*** to maybe help you suck less.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 05:15 PM) As much as this board mocks the NL, I'm surprised the trade hasn't been criticized more because of this fact. Judging from past comments about the NL, Jackson is going to give up nine runs a game. except for the fact that his xFIP this year is in the 4.2 range, and his ERA last year was 3.61 in the american league
  13. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:09 PM) There would be absolutely no need for Figgins with Lillibridge on the team, unless KW and Ozzie felt like we needed more black people on the team. Lillibridge does basically everything we would ask of Figgins, except Lillibridge is actually hitting this year and is immensely cheaper. Ok, so we have a Kotsay is better than Figgins post, and now a f***ing Brent Lillibridge is better post Any other gems somebody wants to throw out? I think it's funny that people think Chone Figgins is as bad as his numbers are showing. I also think it's funny that you guys are dismissing the chance that Seattle would pick up parts of that contract. Figgins > Pierre, Lillibridge, Kotsay, gmafb.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:48 PM) I'd rather have Mark Kotsay ... lol
  15. My guess to a wow/headscratcher move that KW pulls out of his hat: Chone Figgins Wouldnt cost anything, one of the most versatile players in baseball, if you can sweeten the deal and get the M's to pick up some of that contract... I know he's having a down year but maybe Kenny thinks he can get solid production from him with a change of scenery Seattle GM likes Morel a lot according to Stoney
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 07:38 PM) Harrell looks like Hudson with his inability to throw his fastball for strikes. Afraid of the bat
  17. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 04:40 PM) More than likely Houston didnt want any of the crap the Sox tried to pitch them. My guess is Houston wanted some one like Dayan + and Kenny walked away. Not according to what I've read, which is the astros got crap and yanks are just absorbing salary Looks like kenny doesnt want Fat Elvis
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 04:36 PM) Did Kenny and his staff take a 5 hour nap after trading for Jackson? Or Wait for it Here it comes They dont want Berkman
  19. If TB is serious about Dunn, start uncrossing your fingers and hoping for Luke Scott
  20. We're not flipping Jackson, unless there's another pitcher in the pipeline (Myers?)
  21. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:14 AM) For the people that said Edwin Jackson wouldn't help us this season.....can I have what your smoking because he's clearly is an upgrade over Garcia and Hudson (at this time). This team is in a win now mode, and this is a win now move. You can't have you cake and eat it too when it comes to keeping all your top prospects and fielding a contending team. Hudson could've probably landed an Oswalt, Haren-type.. Jackson is a bottom of the barrel type, especially with that contract
  22. Kenny is going to be raked over the coals if we are trading DANIEL HUDSON AND ANOTHER PROSPECT for f***ing Edwin Jackson, what a f***ing joke if this is true.
  23. To me, this spells "If we traded Hudson for Dunn, we're stuck with a 2 year rental. By trading Hudson for Jackson, we're going to get more in return (Not just Jackson), and we can then flip Jackson for Dunn." I hope that's what they're doing, or I hope they're not just dumping Hudson for Jackson. Hudson would fetch a better pitcher on the market than Jackson, hell.. we could've probably gotten Haren if we included Hudson don't you think?
  24. The sox must have really soured on Hudson, maybe we're getting laroche too...
