QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 27, 2010 -> 09:04 PM) I'm thinking this team gets torn down after the draft. I'm looking forward to it. If by tore down you mean, we drop 1 or 2 contracts (Pick your choice of 2, of the following: Kong, AJ, Rios (Please, no..), Peavy) then yeah maybe? Buehrle's contract stipulations if traded are hard to swallow, same goes with Rios' overall contract, and Peavy's, plus Peavy's value right now is at an all-time low I'd wager So I seriously doubt there'll be a firesale even if we continue to suck, there wasn't one in 2007, or 2009, and we have contracts coming off the books after this year as well so financially I don't think the Sox FO is panicing right now

Price is 7-1 His 1 L? To the White Sox

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 27, 2010 -> 07:50 PM) Learn from Rios, White Sox. If they're not going to throw you a good pitch, then you don't have to swing at it. Glad I'm not the only one who's seeing this pattern. 8 out of 9 in our lineup are getting themselves out. Rios is no joke, dude seems to have his head on straight unlike everyone else in our everyday lineup.
-
Please please please don't trade Rios at the deadline, build around this guy, 5-tools all shining this year.

This is one of those games where it stays close for a long time, and the moment you start thinking about the offense screwing one of our pitchers by not scoring any runs, they give up 3 or 4 more runs and the score at the end isn't nearly as close as it once was Gut feeling is the Rays end up winning this one like 7-1 or something, maybe this offense can suddenly start having good AB's though?

Quentin is a bust, I wonder how long the gamethreaders will hang onto that fine thread of hope that CQ will ever be good again? Also, we take at most 2 games this series, but I'd put money down on the danks game, and only that one

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLoeqT7vMIM not sure how to tag youtube videos properly, but this is a great fan video about the (IMO) best boxer in the world right now

some of you may find this as positive news, others unrealistic, but just posting it in 2009, after 46 games we were 21-25 (we're 20-26 right now) for us to win 90 games in 2010, we will have to play .603 ball the rest of the way and go (20-26 > 70-46 = 90-72)

6 back, and just when you think we're gonna go on a roll, in comes TAMPA BAY. The best team in baseball. Ha!

QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ May 24, 2010 -> 10:36 PM) Another thing I don't understand. In the fist episode of the season, the island was underwater in the alt. How the hell did it get like that? The island underwater scene, IMO, was part of the creation of the afterlife/purgatory world they created. Especially Jack, as he was actually told by MIB(Esau), that he was going to sink the island. Perhaps Jack's memory of this statement is why the island was underwater in the A/P timeline

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ May 24, 2010 -> 07:28 PM) Huh? Explosions cancel each other out? The island's energy release wasn't an explosion, only the H-Bomb was. The combination of the release of energy along with the H-Bomb exploding, neutralized each other and, through some strange act of time/space manipulation, transported the Losties forward in time about 30 years. The H-Bomb didn't nuke the Island, it canceled the release of the Island's energy. This is why Juliet was still in 1 piece after they were all transported ahead to 2007, and dug her out of the debris.

the way i understand it, the child that claire gives birth to in the alternate'afterlife' wasnt really Aaron. Aaron had already been born, and lived his own life presumably with Claire after she flew off the island with Alpert, Lapidus, Kate, Sawyer, etc the event of claire giving birth alongside Kate in the afterlife was to make her remember her life on the island edit: I guess a better way of saying it was, Claire wasn't really giving birth. The alternate afterlife was their collective consciousness coming together as one, so it wasn't a corporeal world where a woman gives birth or whatever. It was all happening on a metaphysical/collective consciousness level

IMO the reason Alex, Michael, Walt, Ben, Anna Lucia, Elloise, Widmore, Daniel, and Charlotte (am I missing anyone?) weren't in the Church was because they weren't ready to move on yet The Losties created the alternate timeline to remind themselves of the most important times of their life (when they were on the Island), and created the Church as a meeting place for when they were all dead, so they could meet each other once more before going to the afterlife, the alternate timeline was a pseudo-reality that they created to "live" in until everyone was dead Not sure exactly what the order was of Losties who died, but basically Kate, Sawyer, Lapidus, Miles, Richard, and Claire all got off the island, and as they flew over, Jack saw their plane leave as he died along side Vincent What I liked about this ending was it made "timeline" irrelevant, which is what I personally enjoyed most about the show, the characters

QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 20, 2010 -> 09:39 AM) Doesn't Manny not want to take the drug tests because of the taking of the blood which is against his religion? Pretty sure he's Catholic, and there's no rule against it in Catholicism as far as I know, though I'm sure he's used that as an excuse as well (He's had about 6 or 7 different ones) -

My father is a huge hawks fan, and with father's day coming up, I really want to get him a Niemi jersey Do you think there's any chance of Niemi losing his starting job next season, or is he pretty much locked in as their #1 even with Huet's fat contract? -

This is why Manny Pacquiao needs to take the random tests for the fight with Mayweather, with no f***ing cutoff dates (14 day cutoff, what a joke) People think Boxers are clean because the NSAC/CSAC/NYSAC have drug testing before and after every fight, except it's only URINE, and they don't test DURING training camp! One of Manny Pacquiao's former trainers, Justin Fortune, says the WBO welterweight champion should agree to a random drug testing protocol for a mega-fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. Fortune used to work with Pacquiao's current trainer Freddie Roach. After working with Pacquiao for five years, Fortune and Roach had a dispute that led to a nasty split. He left Roach's Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, California and opened the Fortune Gym in Los Angeles I know, it's not related to the story in the original post, but I am sick of athletes who make ridiculous amounts of money, cheating their sports because of archaic drug testing methods! NSAC/CSAC/NYSAC need to implement Olympic Style Drug Testing from WADA, at least for the big purse fights. Just my opinion! -
I can't be the only one thinking about the Miguel Cabrera sweepstakes and how our hearts were ripped from our chests at the very last second I see that happening w/ the James sweepstakes, I voted for Chicago but that's just because I want him to play for the Bulls We'll have our hopes so high until the very last second when the balloon gets popped and the nation laughs at Chicago as if they never were a realistic option ;(

AJ isn't making that much money that you even consider dumping him, given all of the things he brings to the table. He's not even tendered past this year! Not to mention you aren't going to get ANYTHING worth a damn that will offset what you're losing if you trade him. You think teams are going to give up a top prospect for AJ? I mean, really? Stupid trade idea. How about coming up with a trade that actually makes sense? Oh, and if you think the White Sox are going to tear up whatever semblance of hope their fans (not you, or me, but the casuals that go to games and don't sweat if the team loses) have, by having a firesale and dumping 8 or 9 faces of this franchise, and risk an all-time low attendance in 2011, keep dreaming! They'll come up with a way to dump a guy here and there, and plan it out so the team still looks competitive next year and still be alright financially This team is screwed though, as far as actually WINNING divisions. What's the philosophy of the White Sox as a franchise? Do they teach ANYTHING to their prospects coming up through the system, that can be expected of them once they reach the big leagues? Look at the Twins, Rays, Yankees, even the Nationals, Angels. These teams are doing it the right way. A way this team has never done it. This franchise as it stands has no definition. Just a generic organization that doesn't have a strong farm system, or scouting department. They can't properly evaluate talent in the minors OR in the majors. You can group the Sox in with other generic franchises like the Rangers, Mariners, Tigers, Indians, A's, etc. Teams that aren't expected to be competitive on a yearly basis. If this organization doesn't develop a philosophy, a philosophy where all players are expected to understand what this team is about, a philosophy where players and management care about performing at the highest level, then it's going to continue on being a gigantic clusterf***, like it has been the last 2-3 years flame away!

Look at the lineup guys, what did you expect? I am losing so much respect for Kenny Williams it isn't even funny. One telling thing about this club that really shows you they aren't very good and won't be good at all this year, is that they have very few late inning comeback wins. They just don't have any DESIRE or that "it", that winning teams have. Nothing is clicking. -
