  1. I don't think Rodon sniffs the majors until at least June or whatever month when the arb timer restarts and even then I doubt they promote him up If they do it'll be in a relief role I'm sure
  2. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 04:38 PM) Man, people are down on Danks. He's overpaid, I get it. But he's a serviceable number 4, and that is something the Sox need. The Sox are currently a starter short as it is. Unless trading him directly facilitates another move, like signing Scherzer (or trading for and extending Samardzija)or something big, I don't see the point of the Sox paying half of Danks' salary to pitch for someone else while still looking for starting pitching themselves. If you pay $7 mil to trade him and sign Masterson for about $9 mil, you are increasing your payroll by about $2 million in 2015 and not really improving the team all that much anyway. Is that really worth it? Check out danks stats last year. In more than a handful of stats it was his worst year ever. He was lucky to have an ERA above 5. Dude is done Lowest K/9. Highest BB/9. Highest WHIP for a full season. "Bag of baseballs" applies here I think.
  3. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 07:22 AM) Melky,Masterson, Krod? I'd be stunned if it was a Scherzer like signing after this but man that would shoot Sox straight into the ALCS at least. Bmac...danks for kemp swap... I'd be good..
  4. Does Danks plus Anderson land Kemp? Salary swap plus a legit prospect? Would you do it if you were Hahn?
  5. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 12:16 AM) We traded you. We get to keep the wife and kids.
  6. if you dont have mlb network, hit me up and i'll get you a link
  7. can someone post an update to our payroll now after Shark+Robertson additions
  8. god damn, all the sudden i wanna watch baseball again after two years
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 09:20 PM) I'm watching, and he didn't mean to say it. He meant to say if they got him. i disagree he said it with this confident vibe, like he knows something is going down even the MLBN guys are talking about what he just said and how confident he was when he said it
  10. Bob Nightengale on MLB Network just said "Jeff Samardzjia is going to the Chicago White Sox"
  11. why wouldn't oakland allow a negotiation window? i just woke up, so rational thinking hasn't kicked in yet wouldn't this up the value to their team by netting them more/better players in return?
  12. signing scherzer isn't a flop if he doesn't come with a world series appearance, just a playoff appearance alone would keep the seats filled for the following season casual fans like the big shiny names, and most fans of any team are casual fans
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 4, 2014 -> 09:48 AM) Would be great if this were like that made-up situation where everyone was so intimidated by the prettiest girl in school, she said yes to the only one who asked. Of course that story never happened in the history of high school so... my sister is a bartender and she has some pretty hot friends who work with her, there's this one girl she works with, gorgeous, she gets asked out by maybe one guy a month (according to my sister), same scenario as what you were talking about
  14. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 07:46 PM) Alexei remains the Sox best trade piece, and he can be used to improve the ball club next year. He's a nice shortstop but he isn't that great and the Sox can cover the position. they can't cover pitching and LF. i think you're undervaluing his bat in the lineup
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 08:41 PM) I'm sure he will struggle to hit .240. No doubt about it
  16. QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 07:58 PM) This. Perfect move for this team. Something big is on the way, I can feel it in my plums. I want the sox to get Scherzer so bad but yeah.....reinsdorf.
  17. Were there any players who were picked after these guys (referring to 1st round picks only) that aren't completely irrelevant/injured in their respective teams systems up to this point? 2007 - Aaron Poreda (1st round, 25th overall) 2008 - Gordon Beckham (1st round, 8th overall) 2009 - Jared Mitchell (1st round, 23rd overall), 2009 - Josh Phegley (1st round Supp. pick, 37th overall) 2011 - Keenyn Walker (1st round Supp. pick, 47th overall) 2012 - Courtney Hawkins (1st round, 13th overall) 2013 - Tim Anderson (1st round, 17th overall) Not mentioning Rodon as he's still untested obviously the draft is more/less a lottery ticket, but this team is notorious for high draft picks busting out due to either injuries, or the inability to develop them (especially position players)
  18. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Oct 31, 2014 -> 09:48 PM) Pretty interesting and perhaps telling that the Sox didn't claim Justin Smoak or Andy Dirks. Hahn has his sights set higher. Or the Sox front office is awful at scouting hitting talent. Inb4 "BUT THEY GOT ABREU". Exception to the rule.
  19. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Oct 5, 2014 -> 07:48 PM) Why is this even thread worthy? Do we post a new thread every time a biased fan from another team post their "rumors" about a Sox player? The title says Red Sox rumor, but nowhere in the article states where the said "rumor" came from Yay white knighting
  20. Sox end up with another teams sloppy seconds/thirds because they lacked the depth/money to acquire them when they were in their prime? Griffey Jr, Manny, Liriano, Peavy, Rios I'm sure there are more I can't think of Smh I'm sure we will have Cabrera in 6 years as well when detroit pays us to take him Lol
  21. Smh at this article http://m.us.wsj.com/articles/jose-abreu-th...514931?mobile=y what's the point of writing this Axe to grind?
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 28, 2014 -> 08:45 AM) Dunn has more value than Beckham. Beckham is a DFA candidate right now. Who remembers the Jeter comparisons when Beckham was first called up, and let's not forget the rumors about SD dealing Agon for Beckham Lmao Another failed first round position player
