  1. Zach Stewart isn't very good, not surprising though.
  2. when was the last time (this season) we were 2 games over .500?
  3. QUOTE (mataipaepae @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 11:15 AM) where is the same approach with rios? why not start de aza in center with viciedo in right the rest of the year? Because this organization has no f***ing clue what they're doing. Ozzie on Viciedo: "If he's on the roster, he'll play everyday." Kenny on Viciedo: "I'm not gonna call up a guy who isn't gonna play." ??????????????? f***ing idiots!!!!
  4. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 07:27 PM) Countdown until Soxtalkers freak out, thinking he was supposed to be good enough to play RF FTFY.
  5. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 02:18 PM) Do you really think so? I guess he is pretty much limited to AL only and part-time DH at that because of his back issues. There was a day when a premier pinch hitter was valued ala Smokey Burgess but not anymore I guess in case you missed it, I posted in another thread.. a co-worker of mine is friends with JT's family, he said Jim is retiring after this year....
  6. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 06:44 PM) Does he have a choice? Full No-Trade Clause, says he definitely does.
  7. I've already said I think next year will be a more talented team on paper than this one I hope Sale is a starter...
  8. Kubel would be a nice replacement for CQ in the offseason, however the Twins would need to get value for him
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 12:16 PM) The funny thing is, even though I seem to be the only one in here who is OK with the acquisition (if it even happens), the biggest reason I would hesitate isn't even being discussed. The problem is Adam Dunn. I have almost no doubt that Thome is going to do better than Dunn the rest of this season. But we have Dunn signed for 3 more years, and will need the guy to perform. If we take the bat out of his hands the rest of the year, that will not help the Sox' future, and may indeed hurt it. If I were to hesitate on the move, that is the biggest reason. I've heard Rongey speak on this, saying (basically) that Dunn's problems are so deep down mechanical, that he doesn't believe Dunn will be able to "Fix" this until the offseason/spring training 2012. I'm guessing Rongey has talked to Walker about this and that's where he's basing his opinion. If this is indeed the case, then NO, it won't stunt Dunn's progression to getting better.
  10. I can't imagine the Indians claiming Thome, they know their fans abhor him. Actually I'd bet money on it, no chance it happens.
  11. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 10:40 AM) I don't get why people keep bringing up free agent contracts as a sign of his negotiating abilities. 90% of free agents go to the place offering the most money. Unless you pay well over what the next offer is, like the Rangers did with A-Rod or the Cubs did with Soriano, the price you get a free agent for has little do with negotiations (at least from the team's perspective) but rather what the market bears. If you want to judge him, I'd look more at extensions, arbitration matters, and draft pick signings. Those are the areas where I see his negotiating skills coming into play. Eventually as a GM, his ability to negotiate with other GMs would be critical, but I doubt he's had much exposure to that in his current role. We didn't offer Dunn the most money. He said after we signed him in an interview on the score that there were other teams offering more money.
  12. Recent training videos for the Mayweather/Ortiz fight This one is really really good
  13. Donaire vs Narvarez Approved By HBO, Says Rivero In case you were wondering, or forgot who Nonito Donaire is, he's the philipino-american who recently knocked the f*** out Fernando Montiel earlier this year, he also currently uses Victor Conte as his nutritionist (lol)
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 05:22 PM) Love watching Tyler Flowers approach at the plate. Just a breath of fresh air. He's got his head on straight, Gordon could learn from this guy and that's saying a LOT I really like Tyler Flowers. He's not gonna hit .300+ like AJ has done over his career, but he could be a poor man's Mike Napoli which I'll take every damn day of the week
  15. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 08:58 PM) Victor, Victor.... I'd love to see this happen, but I just don't see it right now. As much of an ass that Mayweather is, he's damned good and very difficult to fight. His fights aren't always pretty. I do think the one way to potentially beat him is to get physical with him and don't let him run. Get chest to chest and push him around a little. Floyd wants to box, not brawl. If Victor can make him uncomfortable physically, I think he has a chance. If not, Floyd will adapt and counter whatever Ortiz brings. The only way to beat Floyd Mayweather (yeah, easy for me to say right?) is to fight an in-and-out style, throwing power shots and limiting your jab. Floyd eats guys who throw jabs alive, because unless you're a defense-first fighter (like Floyd, Sweet-Pea), when you throw your jab, you're wide open for counters. Notice when Floyd throws his jabs to the head or body, he pulls back immediately and goes back into his philly shell, or gloves up stance like when he fought Judah As much as I think Floyd would beat Sergio Martinez on points, Sergio has the style that's perfect to give Floyd problems Victor Ortiz has no chance of beating Floyd. I bet on fights, and this fight is NOT worth betting on, at least on what the odds are right now which last I checked... 7:1 Floyd by UD? I wonder what they are for Floyd by KO? That might be a better bet, because I think Floyd could "Ricky Hatton" Victor late in the fight
  16. Floyd Mayweather Jr. facing lawsuit http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/68710...-vegas-shooting Mayweather has actually won most of his cases dealing with this type of nonsense, just another case of somebody trying to extort money from a wealthy athlete.
  17. Ortiz: I'm Going To Destroy Mayweather, Then KO Him
  18. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) I appreciate Rios' contribution to tonight's game, but I still hope he snaps his leg in 4 different places getting out of bed tomorrow. I was only half-watching by this point, but did he mess up again when he was at third on that complicated catch on a bloop later in the game? I assume he did because he's awful, but I'd like to be corrected if not. unf***ingreal. stay classy, bro.
  19. The thing with HGH and blood testing is they have to test you repeatedly, and compare your results with past ones, to see increases in certain areas The test doesn't simply say "HGH: FOUND", but they will see fluctuations in certain aspects of your blood tests
  20. Co-worker of mine's fiancee is close to Thome and his family, he said that Jim is retiring after this year Take it FWIW
