QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 07:52 PM) Well obviously Kenny isn't going to trade for Rasmus just to bench him. It would be with another move coming that would send Quentin, Rios, or Pierre somewhere for prospects presumably. that's my point, if quentin is traded, this move is epic fail rasmus IS NOT BETTER THAN CARLOS QUENTIN, RIGHT NOW. All IN implies THIS YEAR.

QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 07:50 PM) Well the obvious better bat on the market is Beltran IMO, despite what the Mets are saying, Reyes CAN be had. I would say there's probably a 70-80% chance he's traded because I think a team will overpay for him.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 07:49 PM) Really, if you can get Colby Rasmus for the mistake that is Edwin Jackson, plus Matt Thornton's old ass, plus a relief spect, you do it immediately. This rumor clearly isn't true, or else Kenny would have made the deal already and then put TCQ on the open market. how the f*** does that make the Sox better this year? You're saying Quentin isn't as valuable to this team as Rasmus would be, PLUS losing Thornton? You're nuts if you think this.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 07:31 PM) Jackson, Thornton, AND Reed? Oh man, that would be a hard one to swallow, but assuming Rasmus can figure it out again, it would be a good trade for both teams. f*** that, if we're giving up Thornton and what seems to be a potential up and coming lefthanded pitcher in our system, for a guy we don't have room for, they better be getting Rios along with those two pitchers. Here's our problem: Rasmus is a talented CF. We have to play this kid everyday, we're not giving up that much talent for a kid to play off the bench. That is STUPID. So one of two things has to happen: 1. Rios gets dealt, or has his playing time SIGNIFICANTLY (I'm talking 2 days a week, TOPS) reduced or 2. Quentin is traded. THIS WOULD BE A HUGE MISTAKE.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 03:30 PM) Masterson was no more masterful than Jackson was. Both of them gave the other team plenty of pitches to hit, but neither side really took advantage of them. Masterson's #'s for today: 7.0 IP 1 ER, 4H, 1BB ERA 1.28 WHIP 0.71 K/9 7.7 Jackson 6.0 IP 2 ER, 5H, 3BB ERA 3.00 WHIP 1.33 K/9 4.5 wanna know why we couldnt hit his fastball? because that f***er moves a LOT and he pitches with command to both sides of the plate, his strikeout to konerko was masterful
-
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 03:46 PM) Jackson and Teahen to the Cards for Rasmus, Quentin and Pierre to Atlanta for Beachy and someone else? Quentin isnt pulling much value on the market right now
-
this would move Rios to RF and we'd probably be getting rid of TCQ, hilarious move that makes us worse this year

Sox "uncharacteristically quiet" on trade front
Real replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 12:43 AM) I seriously hope we don't trade Q just to clear a spot for Dayan. That is the worst thing they could do. smoke screen, starting to think the whole CQ/Jackson rumors might be nothing but rumors -
Sox "uncharacteristically quiet" on trade front

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 09:06 AM) Not that it hasn't made sense and was the most logical move for at least 2 months, but it makes a lot of sense now as this weekend and the beginning of next week are against the teams ahead of them. The next 6 games could make or break the Sox, then they play Boston and the Yankees. Terry Boers Sox contact says Sox are "desperate" to trade Quentin and Jackson, and that top prospects arent being offered for either player. Says 7 teams have been in contact about those two players -
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 08:29 PM) You don't honestly think Guillen wants to play Dunn do you? Dunn is the anti-Guillen player. Bad defensively, strikes out a ton, and can't run. Dunn, Rios, and Peavy are clearly Kenny guys. Ozzie guys are on the roster too, one of them is 44 years old and the other starts in LF and gets on base at around a .330 clip, who steals bases half the time he tries.
-
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 01:08 PM) I never thought I'd find myself saying this, but maybe it IS time to try Viciedo and De Aza. DL Dunn and Rios, bring the kids up and see what happens. Who knows... maybe they'll be the much needed spark for this offense. It's easy to do this, too Either send down Lillibridge, or release Teahen. Bench Rios, and either bench or DL Dunn. Release Omar. Call up De Aza, and Viciedo. BOOM, WORLD SERIES. ...........

7-20: Sox (47-50) vs. Royals (39-58); 7:10; CSN

It's obvious to me as a FAN that the lack of energy and enthusiasm of this team is in direct correlation of the managers getting the players in the right mindset to take the field and PLAY baseball, not just be a part of it Did you see the Royals? That's a s***ty team that took the field to PLAY the game, even DJ made that comment The COACHES need to f***ing GO -
QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 10:36 PM) It's time for people to quit believing in the dream that he's going to turn it around. He's not. He's been bad for an entire year. He's shown ZERO evidence that he's going to get on a tear. He and Kenny Williams have put the Sox in a bad, bad, bad, bad situation. They'll be behind the Twins by the end of the weekend. If it weren't for the Twins injuries this year, the Sox would be in 4th place.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 10:10 PM) What a horrible team effort. Vizquel is just a horrendous baseball player. He made a lot of s*** plays today. They just lost 2/3 vs a team that is about 20 games under. Wow. Get Montero for Danks. someone bringing up my trade idea from two weeks ago! woooo! though I think NYY would do Danks Montero + Gardner If Kenny could somehow include Teahen in there, yeah..... Danks + Flowers for Montero + Gardner? -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 10:06 PM) There's not many people who believe that either will still be in their position next year with the Sox. Instead, you get this lackidasical s*** you've seen this year and the team/fans have to suffer. There's only one way JR bounces both of them, and that's if he replaces them with people already in the organization, which I don't want. If there was any hope of JR looking for upgrades at Mgr. and GM, and if he were looking around, we would've heard rumors about it I think, like... specific names -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 10:03 PM) He believes in the talent, and there's nobody available who is better than what they have. KW must be drunk. It's hilarious, because Betemit was available, but he's been here and couldn't hit. But he left and now he can hit. Dunn hit before coming here, now he can't. Swisher could hit before he came here, sucked here, went to NYY and can hit again. Rios could hit in Toronto, came here and f***ing blows. See a pattern? But yeah, it's not the coaching staff. -
