QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 09:59 PM) thornton with a 1,2,3 inning. wow. no pressure when you're down 10-4. pretty simple now that i've seen it routinely. this team chokes under pressure. the whole all-in thing was bad from the start. it set these mental midgets up from the start to play like s***, they cannot play under pressure -

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 09:44 PM) And which emotion prevails with you? This one, about firing people, or the one that the players "we wanted in the off-season" get things straightened out and then, once and for all, go and take this division which is still very much there for the taking. i don't live life fleeting by with my emotions, i make decisions based on what I think to be true. and I think this team f***ing blows, even with the players that we all wanted, obviously something went wrong and figuring this happens every year no matter who the new players are that we bring in, i'm gonna point my finger at the coaching staff -

off-topic: D-Rose wins MVP. CJ Watson apparently got the information and posted it on his twitter. Think it's legit? http://twitter.com/#!/quietstorm_32/st...094039150039041 -

How many young players have we drafted and ruined because we can't develop talent through the minors. Wonder how Jordan Danks would've done in the Twins or BoSox organization, same goes for Beckham and Flowers -

Poor Danks, another game where we can't give him any run supp..... Oh, nevermind. Perhaps he just chokes in close games. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 09:19 PM) Pena is signed for $2 mill. MacDougal was making $2.65 mill in 2009 when they DFA'd him. Even if it's become a punchline at this point, they are all-in, and having a complete waste of space on the roster like Pena is unacceptable. Gray's entire purpose is to eat innings like he has. You need your 5th/6th reliever to be capable of getting outs and being at least competent. Ohman is honestly a perfect 5th or 6th reliever. Pena is not. ok, thanks. i didnt have the money right on pena, i thought he got a raise to about 4 mil in the offseason through arbitration, guess it wasn't nearly that much. at least there's a precident (macD) that they're willing to eat money on a guy wasting a roster spot. i'm almost ready to say put Teahen at 3B just for his bat, but Morel really has nothing left to prove in the minors.
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 09:02 PM) Or just DFA Pena. There is absolutely nothing to gain by keeping him on the roster. oh no, dont get me wrong wite, DFA pena if they're willing to dump him for nothing, but when was the last time the Sox DFA'd a player making the kind of money he is? MacDougal made less didnt he? if that's an option, then f*** yeah DFA him, or put him on the 60-day
-
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 08:58 PM) At least Gray is giving them innings something that worthless piece of s*** pena could not do. What a worthless f***. I know hindsight is 20/20 but Lance Berkman over Dunn would have been nice. I know Gray isn't the most talented guy but his mound presense is pretty good, he looks really calm out there like he doesn't give a f*** if you ask me, put him in Pena's place and use Pena if we're down 8 or something after 7 innings
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 08:57 PM) Hugs in the clubhouse. it'd be awesome if swisher ran into the sox clubhouse and was all like U MAD? and then started high-fiving his cardboard nick swisher cutout
-
QUOTE (bulokis @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 07:57 PM) All in? This team is a joke. it's hilarious how many people here kept saying "It's only April" yeah, that might be a legitimate arguement if this team didn't do this s*** every f***ing year, at some point you can't keep telling yourself it's just a coincedence that the team sucks at specific points of the year, like clockwork, even though we keep changing 2-3 players a year, f*** that noise. it's the coaching staff and the atmosphere they are providing to the players. i want coaches who not only do the coaching things properly (which i'm not sold they're doing), but guys who get our players in the right mindset to succeed if they're struggling
-
seriously. all it takes is one player on this team to start scuffling and it SPREADS LIKE A VIRUS.
-
I'll say it again: This team is FULL OF MENTAL f***UPS. WHY DO WE HAVE SO MANY PLAYERS ON THIS TEAM THAT FOLD UNDER PRESSURE.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 06:58 PM) How do you walk a guy who has two at-bats the whole month to face the top of the order? Sheesh. No wonder Jackson has been traded 4 times and counting. We actually have a few pitchers in our rotation that have similar issues with command (Danks, Floyd and Jackson) It'd be nice to have lockdown pitchers who may not have the best stuff but can locate their pitches.
-
Now we're seeing exactly why teams don't keep Edwin around very long
-
QUOTE (Be Good @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 06:22 PM) The way the Sox lineup is hitting, that was probably our last chance to score a run until at least the 7th of May. FTFY.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 06:19 PM) Lillibridge cost us a run, but he saved one game so hard to complain. The probable way to win this game would have been to jump out on top with a 2 or more run lead, and we just blew it. Don't get many chances like that. 90% of the time, you leave bases loaded or 2nd/3rd and no outs and don't score, you lose those games. It's just the way baseball works, especially on the road against Sabathia. this team is full of mental f***ups, how else can you explain repeated bases loaded or 2 guys in scoring position, 0 outs, and repeatedly scoring 0 runs?
-
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 06:16 PM) wtf was lillibridge running for? That's why he isn't a starter, what a dumb f***
