QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 16, 2015 -> 03:57 PM) He's still the same Buehrle. He can throw a fastball by a guy or catch a guy looking when he needs to. I just find it odd you'd single out him in such an analogy when he's still in the top 1/4 of pitchers in the league. If you were trying to compliment Nolan Ryan, wouldn't you compare him to a pitcher you thought was good?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 04:05 PM) He ran out of gas against KC, and didn't get much help today. He hasn't been very good, but better than the numbers indicate. He's struck out 3.48 batters per 9 (!) and has managed a homerun rate substantially below his career norms. I don't see any it getting much/any better, unfortunately. Obviously these numbers aren't predictive after just two starts, but they're worrisome because they paint a picture that the results could/should be even worse at this point. I know you think I love to hate on Danks (I don't, honestly, I wear his shirsey proudly all the time), but I thought he looked just awful yesterday. Everything was up, and he was topping out at 88mph. Nearly every pitch was making me cringe expecting a bomb. I actually couldn't believe he wasn't getting totally destroyed. I'm definitely open to the possibility that he was doing something intentionally that was keeping the hitters off balance, but I certainly couldn't see it. It seemed like he was just getting lucky.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 01:53 AM) 6 bad games indicates he is pretty much screwed this year. Hopefully at some point in the last 156 he can figure something out which can give him some hope for next season. Maybe he can establish some value and we can dump his salary at the deadline.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 09:59 AM) This weekend I'd bet the farm oon the under since he won't pitch vs them. I'm not cut out to be a casino mogul :'(

O/U on homers vs. Noesi against Detroit: 7.5

QUOTE (lilnicky @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 01:39 PM) just trying to get some life in this team I knew this post would shake it up!! Anybody qualified out there for manager please respond.... I don't know (or care much) who the manager SHOULD be, but I do know that I don't want anyone that has had ANYTHING to do with the unmitigated disaster that has been the Diamondbacks over the past several years.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 13, 2015 -> 04:38 PM) Longoria might be their superstar, but no one was showing up when that team was competitive. I see no reason for them to not listen to offers and nab a couple nice prospects. Regardless, we can't win that bidding.

It feels like this team will never win a game.

I hate the Royals

QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 10:30 AM) Lineups: SOX 8 Eaton 7 Cabrera 3 Abreu D LaRoche 9 Garcia 6 Ramirez 5 Gillaspie 2 Soto 4 Johnson 1 Danks KC Annoying BABIP Magician #1 Annoying BABIP Magician #2 Annoying BABIP Magician #3 ... 1 Volquez

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 10:32 AM) Ground ball pitcher + move to bigger park + good IF defense = low BABIP = another fluke year. Yeah his thing is walks and homers, it certainly does seem like if he's going to repeat, KC would be a good place to do it.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 10:28 AM) Sox win today. It's hard to sweep a major league team. Not nearly as hard after you've already won the first two
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 10:02 AM) Volquez is a much different pitcher now than he was back then. He's a sinker-baller ground ball pitcher now. He pitches to contact instead of trying to miss bats like before. With how good the Royals infield defense is, I'm expecting him to have a nice year. On paper, he's one of the most glaringly obvious negative regression candidates in all of baseball. I'm going to be very disappointed in the gods of baseball if he has a good year.

Typo in the title -- "OVAH!" is misspelled

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 03:57 PM) Let us strive mightily to win. Smite those heathens

The thing Bonifacio does better than anything else is hit lefties -- he should be in there SOMEWHERE against lefties.
-
QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 02:09 PM) I have to say. I am really pissed at this lineup tonight. Is there no factoring in of timing and consistency to allow young guys like Johnson and Gillaspie to stay in rhythm? Conor was one of the only dangerous looking hitters in the first game. Meh, platooners need to get used to being platooners. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 02:09 PM) Would have rather kept Viciedo and let him play vs LHP Wait, what?
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 02:06 PM) Yes this is me overreacting but if Bonifacio isn't going to be playing against lefties then what a useless signing. Yeah he should be in there somewhere if we're doing a bench day.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 08:24 AM) And Hawk will go ape s*** screaming about it. As long as it doesn't injure him, I actually think Hawk will justify it.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 07:08 AM) How does this blame manifest? Floggings, primarily.

Opening Day Grades: Filler until Wednesday

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 7, 2015 -> 10:05 PM) Don't get me wrong. I worship Abreu. He's one of the best hitters in baseball. My question, though, is ... is there a problem with him playing first base? Is he so bad defensively, that coupled with Gillaspie being average defensively at best; Micah average at best and Lexi excellent but known to bounce in a throw or two, that it is going to be a huge problem? Should the Sox turn Abreu into a full time DH because of defensive concerns? It's possible, but they're going to give him every chance to be a defender first, and they should. -

Literally no conclusions regarding the outcome of this season or its players*, positive or negative, can be drawn from this one game. *Except that we won't go 162-0 in 2015.
