  1. Yeah there’s way more to lose than to gain when it comes to making a change like this at the MLB level. You’re gonna sell merch regardless because the fanbase is stable. It makes a lot more sense to take a huge risk at the minor league level, where you stand to potentially gain from something viral
  2. Lmao Top ten all time GIDP: 1. Albert Pujols 2. Cal Ripken Jr. 3. Ivan Rodriguez 4. Miguel Cabrera 5. Hank Aaron 6. Carl Yastrzemski 7. Dave Winfield 8. Eddie Murray 9. Jim Rice 10. Julio Franco
  3. Interesting. I would have thought Spiders was popular. Flows well. not a lot go people seem to know it, but there’s actually an Indy team called the Rockers already, in NC.
  4. I don’t know, Goldstein literally worked in the astros FA as their director of scouting until the trash can firings. I feel like he’s probably got his finger on the pulse of the industry on terms of valuation much more than the typical author.
  5. I will say, having been through a renaming process in the minors, it’s really, really difficult to get it right. It seems like it shouldn’t be, but there’s always a major constituency somewhere that passionately disagrees with whatever your consensus is.
  6. Yeah that feels generic even in a sport full of generic-sounding names. but whatever, I root against the team so I don’t need to like it haha.
  7. Absolutely BRUTAL for Berrios. Reminds me of that time Sale fucked up the Angels all night and then finally walks a couple and Trout homered on that slider low and away. Such a rapid reversal of emotions.
  8. Man, if this team DOES go all the way, there are going to be SO many storylines.
  9. You can make an argument that every post ron makes should be in teal.
  10. But here's the thing that people like so much about wOBA/wRC+/other linear weights-based statistics -- they are specifically designed to factor in the relative value of every piece, meaning that if you have an above average line, it means it's above average DESPITE whatever flaws you may have. In other words, it explicitly answers the question of "does his high OBP outweigh the low SLG enough that he's still an above average hitter," and the answer, so far, is yes. Not only is it yes, but yes to the extent that he's (as of now) 28% above average in total offensive production EVEN AFTER you factor the low power output.
  11. If it's shaping up like it was when it was originally, one does not.
  12. As far as view of the game, upper level behind the plate is VASTLY superior than corners below. But if you want the experience of more options on the lower level or you want a chance to be blasted by a screaming liner, you gotta go below. Depends how you want to experience the park. Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with paying less attention to the game when you're there -- if you want the best view of the action, you can watch TV.
  13. Bullpen has to be top -- a good piece makes the team better immediately and also opens up the possibility of Kopech moving into the rotation in the event of an SP injury. 2B or OF rental bat is number two.
  14. Maybe someone whose scouts/coaches see something in his motion they think they can fix? Idk
  15. What is your argument that Kopech is better than Moncada? I haven't seen you make one at all.
  16. Dude's on pace for like a 5 win season, lmao. Are you guys even following this team?
