  1. I'm totally OK with KW hiring a Yes-man. FO and on-field management being on the same page is way more important than some kind of ego-driven micromanager.
  2. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Oct 6, 2011 -> 02:09 PM) Completely understanding your logic, but maybe we shoud have put Kenny Williams on waivers first? I'm starting to think your posts aren't all sarcastic...
  3. I really hope he isn't. I like him, but we need to get prospects for him. This team will not be good over the next year or so unless Rios/Dunn produce, there's no sense in wasting value by paying veterans to try to carry the dead weight.
  4. You know guys, if we moved CQ, Thornton, and at least one of Danks/Floyd, we might end up with close to a league-average farm system by spring training, what with Martinez/Marinez already here for filler. This would be at least a little exciting.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 07:44 PM) Then you know what would have been great? Stretching him out to 165 innings this year. Best thing you could have done if you were really worried about him breaking down at the end of the year. The more I see the Rays put K machines on the mound year after year, the more I'm OK with the David Price/Jeremy Hellickson strategy. Shelf life seems to be an issue if you're going blow an elbow, but not if you need to build strength.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 03:53 PM) If Danks had performed in 2011 like he performed in 2008 we might have had a shot. I think that's a great deal more value than the Sox can expect from Danks. And the worst part is...where would he play? Who you benching, De Aza, Quentin, Lillibridge, Rios? For Gardner? Any of them.
  7. According to this list, Josh Vitters is the fourth AND tenth best 3B prospect in the majors. I wouldn't put too much stock in it.
  8. How about this: rumor is the Mets will non-tender Angel Pagan. If CQ is traded, we could go with Pagan, Viciedo, and Rios/De Aza.
  9. If we re-signed Buerhle and dumped BOTH Danks and Floyd, we'd still have a shot at winning the division. If the big contracts rebound, it's more than enough. If they don't, we're going to lose anyway. I say dump the valuable pieces for desperately needed prospects.
  10. What are you talking about? We still have a chance. Hawk said we'd be in it at the end.
  11. Ozzie made boneheaded in-game strategy decisions night after night after night the entire time he was here. He wrote up completely asinine batting orders that obviously totally ignore all research on putting guys in the best position to contribute based on their skill sets. His attitude has caused a rift being the FO and management and his tirades had become an outright distraction for the players and fans alike. On the plus side, he was able to instill confidence in his young pitchers. We were able to get a fairly decent compensation package to get rid of a part of our team that was holding us back. We're better off because of this. All we need is to hire someone who won't do the things listed in my first paragraph. Say what you want about KW, but Ozzie being gone, regardless of circumstance, is something we should be happy about.
  12. We could lose some pieces and still accidentally contend next year.
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 19, 2011 -> 09:58 PM) lol. No Dunn or Rios? And Peavy is worse than four of your five starters. Lol, yeah. I didn't really commit between 'random/obscure' and 'historically bad,' so I got a mix of both. I really have nothing but good memories of ol' Kark, for example.

  15. Clearly, it's safe to assume DV will hit a homerun every day.
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 09:55 AM) One of the veteran pitchers in the bullpen should go too, one of Frasor/Crain/Ohman/Thornton, if not two of them. The Sox don't have much depth in the minors, but they do have a few relievers that I think could be quite solid for cheap (Reed chief among them, but also Infante, Santiago who I think ends up a reliever again, Remenowsky). Why don't we talk about Reed more often? His numbers are awesome down there. He could be the shut-down setup guy that lets Sale move to the rotation. EDIT: http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/p...id=reed--001add 13.2 K/9 and 1.0 BB/9 and HR/9? Are you kidding me? And he hasn't struggled at any level.
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 03:50 PM) Wheeeeeeeeeeeee the tease continues with the West Coast cup o' coffee. So excited I could fall asleep(and I probably will since the game starts at 9 PM CST) Win 3 Lose 3 Win 3 Lose 3 Win 3 Lose 3 Win 3 Lose 3 Win 3 Lose 3 Win 3 Lose 3
  18. Small sample guys, let's not get TOO excited yet.

  20. I just want to say that I fully endorse naming the good version of Lillibridge "Lillibomb." We can refer to both players similar to CQ vs. TCQ and JP vs. JFP.
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 04:20 PM) I'm amazed that anyone here still thinks Rios has a place in this lineup. I'd throw anyone out there in his place, including one of our pitchers. At this point, Rios and Dunn have to start playing well for this team to win at all. You might as well keep throwing them out there and hope they actually play like normal. The scrubs aren't going to win the division.
  22. Great move for them, assuming the PTBNL isn't a first round selection or anything.
  23. QUOTE (Real @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 01:18 AM) be hilarious if KW swept in and traded Sale and whatever else for Jiminez I don't think we could put together an acceptable offer even if we wanted to. They're saying the Rox want Montero, Betances, Banuelos, AND Nova from the Yanks
