  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 09:55 AM) One of the veteran pitchers in the bullpen should go too, one of Frasor/Crain/Ohman/Thornton, if not two of them. The Sox don't have much depth in the minors, but they do have a few relievers that I think could be quite solid for cheap (Reed chief among them, but also Infante, Santiago who I think ends up a reliever again, Remenowsky). Why don't we talk about Reed more often? His numbers are awesome down there. He could be the shut-down setup guy that lets Sale move to the rotation. EDIT: http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/p...id=reed--001add 13.2 K/9 and 1.0 BB/9 and HR/9? Are you kidding me? And he hasn't struggled at any level.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 03:50 PM) Wheeeeeeeeeeeee the tease continues with the West Coast cup o' coffee. So excited I could fall asleep(and I probably will since the game starts at 9 PM CST) Win 3 Lose 3 Win 3 Lose 3 Win 3 Lose 3 Win 3 Lose 3 Win 3 Lose 3 Win 3 Lose 3
  3. Small sample guys, let's not get TOO excited yet.

  5. I just want to say that I fully endorse naming the good version of Lillibridge "Lillibomb." We can refer to both players similar to CQ vs. TCQ and JP vs. JFP.
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 04:20 PM) I'm amazed that anyone here still thinks Rios has a place in this lineup. I'd throw anyone out there in his place, including one of our pitchers. At this point, Rios and Dunn have to start playing well for this team to win at all. You might as well keep throwing them out there and hope they actually play like normal. The scrubs aren't going to win the division.
  7. Great move for them, assuming the PTBNL isn't a first round selection or anything.
  8. QUOTE (Real @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 01:18 AM) be hilarious if KW swept in and traded Sale and whatever else for Jiminez I don't think we could put together an acceptable offer even if we wanted to. They're saying the Rox want Montero, Betances, Banuelos, AND Nova from the Yanks
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 10:58 PM) KW is all over those pitching prospects in ATL. I heard they weren't even willing to include Minor in a deal for Pence though. I wouldn't even want Minor as a centerpiece for TCQ.
  10. Braves might become even more desperate now that their division rivals just grabbed a significant upgrade.
  11. From some Blue Jays blog: http://www.bluejayhunter.com/2011/07/what-...-get-colby.html
  12. ROFL @ Jason Marquis. Do the Tigers even have the prospects in their system to get Ubaldo? I mean, literally, if Dombrowski said "Take whatever and however much you want that isn't on the major league roster," could the Rockies scrape together enough?
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 04:06 PM) It is what he has to do. Is it me or does it seem like the Rangers are always looking to add every good player, no matter what their organizational needs are? I mean, they could use a reliever, but I feel like it's like "Oh Rangers add Napoli AND Yorvit Torrealba AND Beltre to push Young to full-time DH..." and "Oh yeah Rangers also in on all the starters even though they have one of the lowest starter ERAs in the league" and "ALso Rangers in on Beltran despite having Hamilton and Cruz in the corners and the third highest CF WAR in the majors, not to mention three guys fighting for the DH slot."
  14. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 09:20 PM) I would too. But if he's a piece that prevents the Sox from having to pick up such a huge chunk of Rios salary... If the Sox could get off paying around $18M of the remaining on Rios that would be golden. But again....hate to see Escobar go. I'm pretty sure Escobar is just a total nobody who had a hot season in winterball and turned some heads. Nothing he had ever done indicated that he could hit at all. I'd personally love to sell high on him.
  15. QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 04:21 PM) If Pence is moved, for the Sox's sake lets hope it is to Boston, so that Philly and Atlanta would be bidding against each other for Quentin's services. Even though Boston gets that much better, the Sox might too, because maybe Braves/Phils offer up a crown jewel to keep Q away from the other. This
  16. If the Phillies are offering Brown AT ALL for Quentin, KW needs to immediately agree and sign whatever needs to be signed.
  17. QUOTE (gosox41 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:18 PM) Not happening. Why would anyone want Rios, even if they can have him for nothing? Bob Guys, because Carlos Gomez broke his collarbone. They're literally playing Mark Kotsay in the OF. Remember Mark Kotsay?
  18. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 06:13 PM) What a bizarre couple of days, the trade/rumors are just weird and they're coming from odd sources. None of this seems typical, this year's deadline just feels off, it feels like the ogranization is stuck in between. We totally are, especially with the win today.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:55 PM) I think I'd rather get Brown. I'm just not as high on Beachy as everyone else. There's absolutely no question we'd rather have Brown.
  20. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 05:07 PM) Call me crazy but uh... Carlos Gomez just broke his collarbone. They might need a CF... *ahem*
  21. Call me crazy but uh... Carlos Gomez just broke his collarbone. They might need a CF...
  22. Thanks, Mark. You stayed on the DL enough to not hurt the team as much as I expected.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 12:51 PM) I think its fairly safe to say that the Cards got less for Rasmus than we did for Hudson and Holmberg. A year ago I would have thought that was crazy talk. Cardinals are definitely the long-term losers here. Edwin and Dotel will help them this year, but they're both gone in two months. People are going to stop trading with AA.
  24. This is a reasonable deal. I can see weighing this against Jackson/Thornton/Viciedo for Rasmus and coming down on this end. It's a safer choice.
  25. We can still win the division, I'm not being sarcastic. We turned Jackson into a pitching prospect, dumped Teahen AND got him paid for, and acquired Frasor for the rest of the season and will collect his Type B compensation pick, which is what Jackson was going to be worth anyway. Read that a couple of times. I can live with it.
