  1. I'd be pleased with Bohm. If talent is similar, there are just so many good reasons to take hitters, guys.
  2. Based on what I've read, it seems to be a particularly bad year for that strategy, because the Royals and Rays have so many picks between the first and second rounds (and so much extra pool money), that they're extremely likely to pop all the best "surprise fallers" well before the Sox get to pick again at 46
  3. What makes you think that? From everything I've listened to/read, Mize seems like one of the most polished prospects ever. The main knock on him seems to be, in fact, that there's no upside because the repertoire and body are so settled and polished.
  4. Some of the stuff Callis has been tweeting lately sounds almost like Onion-style trolling. What MLB executive would ever accept that as a reason for a guy not play SS? What was the other one -- where he said they Sox should draft a pitcher because they need pitchers, then finished the tweet with "you don't draft for need at #4"?
  5. Mayo is consistently horrible.
  6. Those traits are not necessarily correlated with "low ceiling"
  7. No, but only because of arm, allegedly. Which is the same issue with Altuve/Pedroia. Could definitely be a GG, at least according to what I've read.
  8. I feel like almost every report I've read has plus defense on him at second.
  9. When it comes to players, greg doesn't care about things like "ability to hit and field," only size, aesthetic, and how good they were when they were on the Royals.
  10. I can't believe we can't find some guy who can't hit but can actually play the OF to just step in. I mean I'm all for giving guys a chance to stick in a season like this, but do we really think Palka is someone who needs to be seen? How many bad first baseman are we going to stick in the OF corners this year? It's getting absurd.
  11. He came out for the next inning, so I don't think he's hurt. Good
  12. Walks the next guy, stretching a lot on the mound. Pitching coach came out but left him in.
  13. Rodon just threw the wildest pitch I’ve ever seen. Almost looks hurt? Nope maybe just his pride.
  14. And seconds after I post, meneses breaks it up with a single. It was a cheaply though.
  15. Rodon absolutely cruising. Looks extremely smooth. Seven k’s through three and a third, and **** hits
  16. Rodon physically pitching at the ballpark where I work tonight -- and of course it's my busiest night of the season. I will catch what I can and report though
  17. Of course! Welcome! This wagon is spacious, comfortable, and sponsored by Windy City Limousines.
  18. Join me, Lillian. Join me on the Greyson Jenista bandwagon. Isn't as polished a hitter as Beer today, but better body, more projection, and can play defense. https://www.minorleagueball.com/2018/4/26/17281604/2018-mlb-draft-greyson-jenista-of-1b-wichita-state
  19. It's becoming increasingly likely that this is the case. This is just one of those things that can happen with High School pitchers as they continue to grow. Sometimes their body doesn't continue to get better. The Giolito that was drafted was an athletic, mid to upper 90's monster with room to add good weight to his frame but just got popped with TJ. The current version is an older, filled out guy whose velocity has gone backward. It just is what it is.
  20. I don't think much actually clicked, though -- his results became fantastic behind the same terrible peripherals. His minor league numbers have never actually been all that good.
  21. But plus bat control! That's what Ozzie Albies has too! Imagine if Albies was 6'5" 250! I guess what I'm saying is I can't think of any good reason that Jenista won't average between 75-90 homers per year in his prime if healthy.
  22. If Greyson Jenista is still available there, that's the guy I want. Massive dude with supposedly plus bat control. Hasn't hit nearly as many homers as you would think he should given his size and tools, but... that's EXACTLY what they said about Aaron Judge. Just sayin
  23. Yep, makes dudes look like Super Mario. No one is willing to concede to vanity. I don't know that I blame them -- it's certainly the most personal of risks. Hard to argue it shouldn't be up to the player.
  24. I finally had the night off to watch a whole game, and they rewarded me. Thanks dudes
