  1. Unsurprisingly, they now changed the article to removal of the damaged part, not "repaired" as the initial report suggested. Soxtalk 1, ESPN 0
  2. QUOTE (shipps @ Feb 27, 2015 -> 11:49 AM) Is it ESPN's corporate goal to misreport and make it more confusing for the people interested in this story? They have been inaccurate throughout the whole process. I am still upset at them for misreporting the Samardzija trade. I am almost certain that they will change the report in the next hour. If it's actual "repairing", the recovery time would be a lot longer. He probably had parts of it removed, but not the whole thing.
  3. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 27, 2015 -> 10:41 AM) Got it taken out just like Westbrook did. He'll have arthritis in that knee when he gets older/when his career is done now, but if he's cool with that when he's taking his son to graduation, he should be more than fine for the short term. Did Westbrook have his taken out? I always thought he had his snipped. FWIW ESPN is reporting Rose had his meniscus "repaired".
  4. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 01:37 PM) He definitely is a big part as to why they are developed. The fact that they were good picks and the players worked hard as well gets lost though. Really? I don't think Jimmy nor Snell were considered to be good value picks and were projected starters.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 01:39 PM) Westbrook had the same series of injuries (in fact, Westbrook had 4 injuries in theory...ACL and 3 different meniscus surgeries). Westbrook's injury (and the subsequent ones) are results of contact with Beverly, otherwise he has managed to stay healthy his entire career. Rose's injuries were all non contact, and he has dealt with a bunch of minor injuries. He can't stay healthy even if you literally wrap him in bubble wraps. If he can't stay healthy for an extended period of time, he will never play at MVP level.
  6. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 01:28 PM) What are you saying here? You're saying all Thibs did was give young players a chance to play when the other player goes out, as if he has done nothing else to develop those players.
  7. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 01:21 PM) He wouldn't be replaced because of performance. he would be replaced because of the relationship with Gar\Pax. He still has 2 years left on his contract IIRC. The Gar thing isn't anything new. To my understanding his relationship with Pax is fine.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 01:11 PM) i totally respect your knowledge of basketball but Jennings is a f***ing nutjob me-first chucker that i want no part of. People have said that about Westbrook, Aaron Brooks, to a lesser extent the 2015 Rose, and Rondo being a me first guy who doesn't pass unless there's an assist. Jennings has the skills and court vision to be a passing point guard and he's among league leaders in assists per 40 minutes this season. I think he has bought into to team basketball after he got to Detroit. Playing on a contending team would also help keep him in check.
  9. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 01:05 PM) People in this city act like Tom Thibodeau has won multiple championships. When is the last time that a young player emerged on this team that wasn't caused by an injury? Thibs is a great coach but there are plenty of reasons why he was an assistant for 20 years. This will be his last season with the Bulls. Right, because all Thibs did was give young players a chance to play.
  10. Going into next season we can't bank on competing on the condition that Rose would stay healthy again, that would be throwing the season away. We ABSOLUTELY need another starter caliber point guard. I am looking at Brandon Jennings to be that guy, who's coming back from an Achilles injury himself. But he has developed into a solid starting point guard and is excellent at running the pick and roll. He will be a good fit next to Gasol and Jimmy. Since Detroit now has Reggie Jackson at the point, I think Jennings could be had for Taj, and he could easily play 25-30 minutes a game on this team, whether or not Rose is healthy. Rose/Jennings/Hinrich Butler/Rose/Hinrich Snell/Doug/FA signing Gasol/Niko/1st rounder Noah/FA signing/1st rounder I think this team is good enough to reach the ECF with or without Rose.
  11. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 11:35 AM) Thibs was rumored to be gone after this season, barring enough public pressure to bring him back. Meaning he had to get the Bulls to the Finals... or win them... No DROSE, No Finals... HE GONE I don't buy it. We have overachieved in EVERY season Thibs was here, given the deck of cards he had to work with. He is also excellent at developing young talents, oddly enough. He shouldn't be replaced because of our lack of success, he should be replaced if there is a better replacement out there.
  12. Same s*** keep happening to this kid. He's one of the best individuals in basketball, always grounded and treats everyone with respect. Grew up in one of the worst neighborhoods in Chicago and struggled through so much to get to this point. I just don't understand why it has to be Derrick Rose. I feel for him.
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 04:38 PM) What's the point of doing that? Make sure the uni fits? Sam Hinkie probably forgot to pick up his suits as he was anxiously driving MCW to the airport in Philly.
  14. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 03:29 PM) I'm working under the assumption Bryan knew what he was doing there. Maybe he didnt. The problem with this is that is that the handshake was not well received. It brought the most heat Reigns had all night. Luckily for WWE so far since the Rumble, their live crowds have been in front of southern/non smarky crowds. He still wasn't over as a babyface regardless. I'm wondering what his reception will be next two weeks in Pittsburgh and New Jersey. I don't see that going well but we'll find out. Didn't watch the PPV yet, but from the sound of it, it was a good match. I'm a bit surprised he still got so much heat from it.
  15. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 26, 2015 -> 04:16 PM) I personally wouldn't have a problem if it ended up with Reigns eliminating Bryan at the end. If Bryan and Reigns puts on hard fought battle for 10 minutes, that would have put the fans at the edge of their seats, because the match could have went either way. If Reigns beats Bryan convincingly at the end, Bryan comes back in the ring to shake Reigns' hand to endorse him, everyone goes home happy. The issue at hand is there was nothing convincing about the way Bryan was eliminated. Come on, you have one of the most over superstars of all time eliminated by a tackle from Bray Wyatt midway through the match after being out of action for half a year? I think the fans wanted to see more than that. This was what I said after the Rumble on how they should have handle things differently with Bryan's elimination and Reign's winning. It seems like WWE went down that path to patch things up, albeit a month later. Reigns vs Lesner for Mania isn't looking that bad after all, especially with Lesner possibly retaining. I think that night in Philly, fans wanted nothing short of DB winning the Rumble, but outside of Philly, Reigns for mania isn't really poorly received.
  16. QUOTE (LDF @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 07:03 AM) i am going with the info that another poster posted about the tv deal via his post with a link. there were 2 incomes from the tv deal, 1 was in the 130 mil and the 2 is in the 60 mil. i didn't understand it, but it was in the link. i believe it was caulfield12 who found the link. I really want to see the source behind this. $190 million annual TV deal would put the per game revenue at ~$1.2 mil per game. Last I check, we are getting $650K per game from CSN televised game this year.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 09:25 AM) That was actually a question I had here. He has an MLB deal, does this only have implications in terms of dollar amount, or do you also have to keep them on the 40-man for the year? Has to be on the 40 man, I presume
  18. QUOTE (LDF @ Feb 22, 2015 -> 09:19 PM) and this offseason, the fans finally found out how much money JR and owners have to bank. the tv money imcome alone is 190 + mil a yr. the salary of the sox is 120+ mil a net profit of 60+ mil and the income from the fans, concessions, commercial leasing etc.... adds to that profit margin. the sox have several areas of concerns, 2 of Garcia and Eaton who are a health concern backup ---- Bonifacio Jose A, has to be healthy ---- backup LaRoche chris sale ---- backup ??? rodon and in a playoff race, how bout those innings oh i forgot how important another backup for that infield is so they went out and got beckham. how bout a backup for the catcher---- ??? the bench.. thompson, jb shuck those players really strike fear in the opposing pitchers. this team can really build something special and can keep it going. You should really fact check this. Only 3 teams top that figure with their TV deals. We are far from that figure.
  19. Russell Westbrook is ridiculous. 21-8-17 in just 27 minutes. The Kanter trade might be the move that puts them over the top.
  20. I am not surprised by this. We also just let a dude name Dinwiddie out play our franchise player
  21. A convincing win and resting their starters for tomorrow would be nice. Let's hope they don't play down to their competition.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 19, 2015 -> 05:01 PM) Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA 1h1 hour ago The Chicago Bulls are a VERY significant contender for Kendrick Perkins too, league sources tell Yahoo Sports. Contenders? Meaning there are teams bidding for his service? LMAO. If you put Perkins PER of 7 together with Kirk's PER of 7, you will get a slightly below league average player.
  23. OKC managed to get get Kanter, Augstin, and Kyler for Reggie Jackson and Kendrick good-for-nothing Perkins? Sam Presti strikes once again.
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 18, 2015 -> 05:06 PM) The main issue I have is that the Bulls spacing was horrendous. You had a player who was dominant at driving in congested spaces being forced to do that the whole game, and he did. Deng was decent from 3, and Korver was great but mostly 2nd unit then. You had a bunch of players who all required being close to the hoop. Give him the Dunleavy Bulls and 2010-2011 would have at least 5% better FG shooting. That would put him at 50% shooting for that year. That is a bold statement that really couldn't be backed up, and with Rose's style of play, I highly doubt he will ever shoot 50% from the field, injured or not. For the Thunder, Roberson couldn't shoot for his life and Perry Jones who started with Durant out was also a bad shooter. As a team, They are shooting 32.5% from 3's this year. They definitely aren't the Warriors, Hawks or Spurs. On the other hand Bulls in 2011 shot 36% from 3's, and Thunder shot exactly same percentage last year.
