QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 11, 2013 -> 09:49 PM) Rose's D was sick tonight. Shadowed Irving big time. I counted 2 baskets that Kyrie scored on Rose. The rest was on Kirk. And both baskets came after a push off from Kyrie, which could have been call offensive fouls

and Stacy and Funk refuse to say Rose is hurt

It's only been 5 games but Michael Carter Williams is really playing like the 2009 Tyreke Evans. Big athletic PG who excels at driving to the hoop, but a pretty bad shooter otherwise. Though I think he has a much better chance of staying at the point, which could turn him into a really special player down the road.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 3, 2013 -> 02:58 PM) He hasn't been taking a ton of shots per game yet, has he? I know his minutes have been a bit limited but we're nto talking about him going 9/30. Him going 9/30 would actually improve his FG percentage. His FGA is right at his career average, and good for 12th in the league, despite playing 33 minutes game. Again, it's more about the quality versus quantity of shots he's taking. NY game is a good example, his mentality was to force the shot until he hits one or gets a foul call. Getting 4 assist per game at his usage rate at the PG position is comedic. That's also not what I expected when he said his basketball IQ has improved. I fully expect better results from him when he finds his rhythm, but the last 3 games hasn't really been fun to watch.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 3, 2013 -> 12:51 PM) I feel like his "decision making" was actually pretty solid yesterday. He got a lot of open looks for people, particularly inside, and the shots he was taking weren't bad shots, he was open on the perimeter, just bricking them. Honestly, I didn't watch last night's game until the 4th, definitely saw a lot of sloppiness in his ball handling. But the basketball smarts I wanted to see from him in the first 2 games would have been play more of a distributor when his shots weren't falling, rather than forcing the issue by driving to the hoop. If defenders have to pay more attention to his teammates, shots will open up for him.

The player who will have higher basketball IQ, better jump shot, and 5 more inch vertical, we are still waiting for his return apparently.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Oct 21, 2013 -> 02:39 PM) Actually, his defense is very good. Covers a lot of ground, gets a good jump, and his arm is very good. Not as good a base stealer as you would expect, but going from first to third or first to home, not many better. Strike outs are a problem and he is a bit streaky for me, but a solid player. Rockies will get offers. They were reluctant to trade him before, but they have two young outfielders who are very promising and they have already talked to Cargo about his taking over in Center. So they are serious this time. According to Fangraphs, his UZR through 5,000 innings so far is -40.6, that is in the range of horrific defender. And his pedestrian offense could actually be beneficiary of the Coors effect. The only reasonable OF candidate I would want from the NL West is Parra and Chris Denorfia.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 20, 2013 -> 06:06 PM) Not even close. The fact that we just shelled out $70 mil for this guy and that we are going to make a strong push for Granderson tells me that the FO is looking to make a playoff push next season. I am fairly optimistic that the south side will have more the competitive baseball team for the next year or two.

The O Line really had a heck of a game today.

I am about 50/50 on Abreu. The initial scouting report called him one of the best hitters in the world, with comparisons to Bonds and Cabrera. The recent scouting reports called him a slider speed hitter who will have trouble hitting good pitchers with plus heat, but will feast on the lesser ones. That kind of does explain the incredible numbers he has put up in Cuba. The other question mark is he is already profiled as a 1B/DH, defense is not a strong part of his game. If he doesn't contribute offensively, it will be hard for him to earn that contract.

Missed the game. Did Peppers played? The box score doesn't suggest he played the last two games. Then again, he's virtually worthless this season. The Bears may end up making the playoffs because of the number of s***ty teams they still get to play. But if they want to win against playoff teams they got go out and buy low on a couple of proven defensive linemen, trade McClellin for a legit 4-3 linemen, or sign some free agents. The horrible play from the line is exposing too many holes in our soft cover 2 D. This shouldn't have been a 6 point game.

PPR league, should I start Marshall and Jeffery over Edelman and Wayne? Wayne's got a pretty taste matchup against the Chargers. -
QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 02:07 PM) I'm in Zoom's league. We currently have only 4 teams. Please join! I can join if someone sends me a PM.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-don...23468--nba.html Personally, I would like to see him impose as a King to send Lebron a message, and tell rest of the league I'm back b****es!
-
And still no sign of his improved jumper. The lone three he took was kind of a line drive that rattles in. Still looks a bit rusty from a shooting stand point.
-
So our pass defense is quickly becoming one of the worst in the league. We are 30th in the league currently in opponent pass completion % at 70% (only Oakland and San Diego) has done worst. We are also 6th in the league in highest yard per attempt at 8.3. When the secondary is not generating any turnovers and the DL is not pressure the quarterback, our defense is a disaster waiting to happen.

I loved watching Jimmy play last night. That kid had springboards shoes. After every missed shot, you can count on him to be around the ball and leaping over bigger guys to get go it. And his ability to get to the line is refreshing to see. Since it was preseason last night, I was hoping Thibs would give Snell and Teague more burn, but it doesn't seem like Thibs trust either guy yet, which means Jimmy will be play close to 40 minutes this year.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 5, 2013 -> 07:11 PM) The day I have my first child will not be as happy as tonight. Derrick Rose is back, he's inviting contact, and I am finally, finally f***ing at peace. Welcome back, Derrick. Bulls will be champs this year. Book it. I hope your first child eventually reads this.

The guy doesn't have a brain.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 29, 2013 -> 02:15 PM) That interception wasn't Cutler's fault!!! Of course it wasn't. He will learn from it next year when we sign him to a big fat extension.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 29, 2013 -> 01:29 PM) Lol. Yes he is. Where was your crying when he was winning games in the fourth quarter this season? What's our record without him? Were you talking about the game where he needed a last minute comeback at home against an 0-3 Viking's team? Or the game he threw for a whopping 150 yards and the defense was still playing well enough to generate any turnovers? He demonstrated some toughness and all but does he really deserve all the credit? FWIW, he has exactly 2 game winning drives the 2 years prior to this. I would examine it a little closer before I call Cutler a clutch quarterback. About the record without Cutler part, give the team a quarterback that was good enough to even start for the Raiders, and we will find out.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 29, 2013 -> 01:23 PM) He made one bad throw where the ball floated when he was tripped up. The other was Jeffrey not getting the ball. Not a great performance but not a disaster. C'mon man, an interception is an interception, he threw the damn ball into triple coverage! It was an risky throw, and he's been doing the same s*** for the past five years!, hence it's a "characteristically" Cutler throw.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 29, 2013 -> 01:20 PM) Not everyone, just reactionary emotional posters. Is it really emotional? There was always an excuse for Cutler every year, why he's only an average quarterback, why he's inconsistent all the time. This year, he finally got an offensive minded coach, an OC that was part of the lethal Saints offense, a QB coach that was Cutler's guy in Denver, a solid receiving core that finally features a catching tight end, and a solid offensive line. Yet Cutler still delivers the same s***ty performance, bone headed throws, and his best option is still a check down to Forte on a third and long. If you think Cutler is a playoff caliber quarterback, you are either highly optimistic, or just delusional.
-
There should be no excuses for Cutler this year, he's just plain out dumb and suck. Let's move on.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 26, 2013 -> 10:49 AM) Because the pitching staff has been pretty damn good this year? No one is talking about one group of player here. We are on pace to lose 100 games and have the 5th worst run differential in the league, something's got to give. The pitching was definitely the stronger area this year, but like I said, Peavy and Crain missed too much time to be that high. There is no way Thornton should be higher than a C and Donnie Veal gets better than a D. Guys like Kepp, Konerko, Axe, and Floyd should all get an F, and Danks would be a D in my book as well.
