Another terrible episode of Rock vs. Cena tonight. You would think after two weeks of absence, Rock would do more than come out here, answer a few questions and deliver the same insults to Cena he always did, and predictably lay the Rock Bottom on Cena. Their feud right now is so bad, you can tell Rock just stopped giving a crap about this company. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 10:17 AM) I love the analysis. Green font? Your original comparison of Rose at 110% to Lebron is unfair. Rose at 22 was a debatable MVP. Rose at 25*110% (assuming you mean he's healthy as well) is a bonafide MVP and 3rd best player in the league. Like I said, there is a glass ceiling for small players in the league.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 09:56 AM) I don't know if we can just assume top 3-5 player about Rose coming off that horrific injury. I sure as s*** hope so, though. Hell, I'm praying he plays Thursday. Major injury, but it's very common these days. Rubio has been dominating lately, Shumpert seems as quick as he was before. Assuming Rose regains just 90% of his athleticism, with natural progression, improved basketball IQ and jumpshot, will be a top 3-5 player in the league, it's not out of reach.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 09:22 AM) You tell us these things as if they are not well known. Of course Rose was an insane talent before he blew out his ACL and grew a vagina. I love him to death. However, Rose at 110% couldn't sniff what LBJ is doing right now. Individually no, but team success-wise, maybe. But everyone needs to stop comparing Rose to Lebron. They do whatever it takes for their team to win, but they do that very differently. There is a glass ceiling for small players in the leauge, no doubt. If you make a list of top 10-15 players all time, none of them is under 6'5 This is a slippery slope, but Magic Johnson will not be a top 5 player all time if he isn't 6'9. The point is size matters in this league. Lebron can take it strong to the rim against any big in the league night in and night out his entire career, because he isn't giving up that much in size, that's what makes him special, and the other parts of his game builds off of it. Rose can do the same, to an extent, but he will shorten his career because a 6'3 player cannot take that beating night in and night out. Lebron is a once in a lifetime talent, no doubt. But let's not take anything away from Rose here. Next year, he will be a consensus top 3-5 player in the league. That is also a very special talent right there.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 13, 2013 -> 02:40 PM) Exactly. It doesn't bother him enough to actually do something about it. This is becoming a pointless argument. So now you're criticizing him for not telling his brother to STFU, instead of accusing him of using Reggie's mouth to call out the organization, when he just came out and said the organization has done a good job so far. People these days.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Mar 13, 2013 -> 11:47 AM) Do you know Derrick personally? Because I know I don't. I've always heard he was a class act and family man and blah, blah, blah, but then he did have somebody take the SAT for him so he could get into Memphis. So honestly I really don't know what to think about his moral fiber. Bottom line is that I'm just getting sick and tired of this crap. He really needs to ass out there and play. He's to the point of no higher risk of re-injury and he says he has no limitations. What the hell is the problem? He's never going to have his confidence back until he actually gets out and plays. I think he's just afraid to fail and I don't like that. He's the biggest superstar in Chicago since Jordan, and if I were to ask myself would Jordan being playing by now if all circustances were the same, I know the answer would be yes. Proof? I don't know him personally. But judging from what he has said and done so far in his career, my analysis is far more plausible than what you have thrown out there, which apparently stems from your lack of patience to await his return. Too many people expected him to return by January, or after ASB, and March hits, there's a chance he's not coming back this year at all so people are just getting frustrated because they won't see him play this year. He is physically cleared to play, but no one knows his body except for him. His biggest issue right now is he's not able to put too much pressure on his left knee mentally, which leads to overcompensation of other parts of his body, i.e. hamstring. That's also why he's experiencing burning hamstring after practice. This will actually lead to a higher chance of injuring other parts of his body if this continues on. So while his knee has healed, he needs to be mentally be able to use his knee the "Derrick Rose way" before he should come back and play. People are comparing his injury to Shump Rubio and AP, but just go look at a Derrick Rose jump cut, he puts pressure on his knee far more than others do. If he's not able to do the things he's able do before, then he should not come back. I am one of the few people who actually appreciates his maturity in handling his return. He could have just made decision like any other headstrong young kid and rush back to play before he's fully ready, but now he's making sure he's taking the safe approach for the long term interest of the orgranization and the fan base. Grow some patience man. You will appreciate this when he's fully healthy again in the future.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Mar 13, 2013 -> 10:50 AM) Thing that bothers me is that while Derrick did come out and say that those were Reggie's opinion he never said that Reggie was wrong. He did say at the end of the interview that the organization has done a good job of putting pieces around him. I mean he did say that's Reggie's opinion, and you wouldn't say someone's opinion is wrong right?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 13, 2013 -> 09:37 AM) If it really bothered Derrick, he'd threaten to cut Reggie's ass off, and we wouldn't hear from him again. I think you need to stop making general statements without taking into account who Derrick Rose is as a person. We all know family comes first in the Rose family, because of everything they been through in Rose's upbringing. You also have to remember the impact Reggie has have in Rose's life. This is the guy who looked after him his entire life and even took over his AAU team so his brother could play. That being said, that doesn't mean they have the same personality and same opinion. And the fact that Rose hasn't told Reggie's ass off for giving his family a bad rep also goes to show you he will not disrespect his family, and logically his organization. That's not who he is as a person.
-
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Mar 13, 2013 -> 06:44 AM) Agree with you 100%. Anybody that doesn't think Reggie is Derrick's puppet is a fool. I think you are the fool here. Like other mentioned here, Reggie Rose comes across as a jerk who speaks whatever on his mind. But over the last 4 years, Derrick has never shown any disrespect towards anyone in the organization or anyone in the league for that matter. He has always had the quiet, laidback personallity. Saying whatever Reggie has said is out of character for him. I think it's highly unfair to question his character based on what Reggie said, unless the words come out of his own mouth I think you are fooling yourself.
-
For those who were close to burning some Derrick Rose jerseys a few weeks ago, Derrick also cleared the air by saying Reggie is entitled to his own opinions about the team, whatever he said about the team, that's him, while he himself still backs the organization.
-
I dont know how it feels to be walking and playing after an ACL surgery, but it just seems like Rose is not used to handling this type of pain. Kind of like how he infamously ran from the doctors trying to stitch up his cut a few years ago in the NCAA tourney. Mentally, he's not able to get over that type of damage to his body.

It's literally disgusting how lazy they have gotten with The Rock's character these days. He's saying the same crap over and over again every show, there just isn't any substance in his character and his motivations any longer. Cena's character is a lot more likable now because he has gone through a year of struggle and dying for a chance for redemption. In some way, Rock has become the Super Cena we used to be seeing, he gets everything handed to his ass and comes out every week to talk about how much he loves his fans. Every time Punk or Cena says something about Rock's Hollywood career, Rock has no comeback, because they are right about him. -
To get Lebron to dunk, Terrance Ross will use another kid as a prop again next year, but have the kid wear a Lebron jersey instead, and dunk over him.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Feb 26, 2013 -> 09:57 PM) This is the most down I've been on the bulls since pre-rose. And it all started with rose and his family being a bunch of b****es. So it's not due to the fact that the Bulls were playing their toughest schedule of the season and injury bug has finally caught up to them? One comment from Rose's brother and the Bulls lost to the Cavs. Ok.
-
QUOTE (kev211 @ Feb 26, 2013 -> 09:55 PM) He's not blaming him for not doing it. His blaming his family for calling the FO out when he's done nothing to help. Seriously he couldn't even send a f***ing text to Lebron Step back and take a look, does the front office get away with being blame for not making moves just because Rose didn't send one single text in a situation that has already been pre-decided? I don't think so. I am not saying Reggie should have come out and said something about the FO, but it is what it is. There were opportunities to make a move before the trade deadline, and Bulls stayed put, with realization that this team is not going to compete with the Heat even if Rose comes back. Keep in mind that everyone thought the Bulls would struggle to make the playoffs without Rose prior to the season, that's why the FO opt to replace the key losses in FA with mediocre players, and possibly "throwing the season away." But until a few weeks ago, they were the 3rd seed and were 10 games above .500. They actually had a chance to compete if Rose comes back if they trade for let's say Reddick and another backup big men, but they chose to stay put just so they could avoid going further into luxury tax, once again, waiving the white flag. Let's be real here, the Bulls FO lacks any kind of imagination. They had the ping pong ball fell their way in a 1.9% chance miracle, and they are finally relevant again. You can't say Reggie Rose can't say anything about the organization just because Rose didn't send a text in a situation that didn't matter. And it is the FO's responsibility to put together a team. The FO should definitely take blame for not doing anything to put us over the top. On a bright side, this puts more pressure on the FO in the off season to make some moves, knowing that Rose and has limits in his patience and they can't take his loyalty for granted. Just look at how active the Cavs were in Lebron's final two seasons in Cleveland knowing that he might walk away after his contract is over.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Feb 26, 2013 -> 04:35 PM) Then in that case he needs to STFU. He's the one who refuses to recruit, so he's the one who gets stuck with people like Boozer when we might have had a slightly better shot at Bosh/Wade/LBJ. He has 0 right to complain about things like that. Seriously, do you know how recruiting works? In order to recruit the player to your team, you have to have a good team, you would want to play with the player being recruited, and most important of all, you have to have a relationship with the player. NBA players aren't stupid, the Bulls were a great team with good potential on paper, Lebron knows that, Rose didn't have to sell the team to Lebron or Bosh, and he never said he didn't want to play with those players. The only reason Lebron went to Miami is his relationship with D Wade. If Lebron wasn't drafted in the same year as Wade and they weren't buddies off the court, there is no way he would have picked Miami over Chicago, all things remain equal. Not to mention like Balta said, they publicly admitted the decision to play together was toyed around during the 2008 Olympics. Rose didn't have a relationship with Lebron, and it's not in his nature to go out and make friends easily, you can't blame him for not doing so either. If his buddies Kevin Love and Tyreke Evans hits the free agent market, and if the FO wants those players, I wouldn't be surprised if Rose calls them up and ask them to come play in Chicago.

Personally, I would like to see Heyman stable of Punk and Lesner vs. Taker and Triple H at Wrestlemania, with Punk and Lesner remaining a stable after WM. I think Punk's mic skills and persona could bring a different dimension out of Lesner as well. As of now, the respective angles of Lesner vs Triple H and Punk vs Taker will not carry over after Wrestlemania. Also, putting Taker in a tag match will make things a little more interesting. The only thing that prevents a Punk Lesner stable is the appearance clause in Brock's contracts. -

So what's this Tout crap WWE is pushing heavily tonight? I thought between Facebook Twitter and Tumblr, we already have enough social media gimmicks out there. -
The recent "build up" to his return has been dramatic. Bulls basketball wasn't the same this year without him. With 1.7%, he fell into our hands in 2008. His ascend to the MVP two years ago was the best story happened to Chicago sports since WS WS. He is Chicago basketball. He is Chicago's favorite son. I might shred a tear when they finally annouce "From Chicagooo...."

Just watched the Elimination Chamber PPV, I like how none of the guys mentioned at the end of the show that the WM main event is a rematch of last year's event. -
Sox projecting increase in attendance
thxfrthmmrs replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Even with the increase in attendance and figured increase in concession sales, it will not bring up their revenue a whole lot given the cut in ticket sales. None the less, this is a positive trend and hopefully it could lead to bigger things in the future. -

If they are putting Swagger/Del Rio for Mania, it's going to be one of the most boring Manias in recent memory. No way you are going to put a guy who's been out of action for so long in a WM World title match less than two months after he returns unless that guy is Dwayne Johnson. And his new hairdo is just terrible. Rock vs Cena, we all know what's going happen. The Champ aka Super Cena is back Punk vs Taker. We all know what's going to happen too. A 30 minute match with Taker winning despite laying dead in the ring. No way they are going to bring Taker back for a WM and put a 1 in his loss column. It will erase the one thing that sets him apart from any wrestler in history. And Punk doesn't need another push. Triple H vs Lesner. Not a fan of guys coming back and only wrestling for one match a year. The story is not going to go anywhere. And half of these guys will not be here after WM! -
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 07:10 AM) That's actually quite a positive review. If he could improve on the base paths he could have a Luis Castillo type ceiling hopefully That's wishful thinking. Castillo used to steal 50-60 bags in his prime. Sanchez is not a particularly fast guy, so you are asking him to gain more speed and steal more bases. Think Ryan Theriot, maybe slightly better contact, if he pans out.

I like the fact that we won with "small" ball last night, which gives some hope that we could play small with the Heat in a playoff series as well, which will take Boozer out of the picture. Take the Heat's small ball lineup: Bosh/Haslem Battier/Lewis Lebron Wade Allen/Chalmers If we can counter with Noah/Boozer Deng/Gibson Butler Robinson/Bellineli Rose Where Deng will check Lebron and Butler will check Wade. Nate and Rose will take turns checking Battier and Allen. Nate Robinson, while diminutive and has some shot selection issues, has proven that he can be effective running the offense, hitting the long ball, and being an instant source of offense. He and Deng can be the second and third options behind Rose. This is a bit premature given Rose hasn't played a minute this season yet, but I think we can match up great in the playoffs.
