  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 28, 2012 -> 04:52 PM) My question is, why the hell did Joe Maddon sit 3 of his best hitters today? I know that Sale's lefty and those hitters are lefties, but you shouldn't take 3 of your best guys out of the lineup. That just seems a little excessive. Maybe he was trying to give them Memorial day off or something, lol. And Maddon is known for employing the "John Danks Theory", where you load up your lineup with lefties against left handed pitchers because they can hit the changeup better. This lineup today is definitely out of the norm for him.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 25, 2012 -> 10:46 AM) How is that bursting any bubbles? We all knew that, it was posted here, and in yesterday's thread. The fact that you mentioned Kuhn is back at leadoff, but that was only a continuation of an earlier game, in which he batted lead off. As of now, Golson is still batting lead off everyday.
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 25, 2012 -> 08:24 AM) JorDanks drawing a lot of walks, putting up decent overall hitting results. Still Has a K/PA around 25% though. Kuhn continues to turn it around, and they are batting him leadoff in some games now. Kyle Bellamy looks ready for AA. People have forgotten him, but, he may have something to offer now that he's back and healthy. Leighton Pangilinan somehow managed to make 3 errors playing 1B, has 7 on the season already. I am bursting your bubbles but that was a continuation game from May 4th
  4. I am more happy that we are in the hunt for first place with only Cleveland to beat. That team is due for a regression like last year.
  5. Axelrod has dominated the minors for the past three seasons, and has more than held his own in this big league callups despite his below average stuff. I really REALLY would like to see him pitch for an extended period of time in the big leagues this season.
  6. Walters and Heidenreich with perfect games going through five.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 12, 2012 -> 08:35 AM) Keenyn Walker's last 8 games, hitting .320, .469 OBP, 7-for-8 in steal attempts, and more walks than K's. Ravelo continues to do pretty well for a 20-year-old. I still can't find any info on his D though. Until he can show some power in his bat, he will be another Jon Gilmore type prospect
  8. You're nuts. No one is expecting him to steal 40 bases in the majors. But stealing 20-25 bags along with great OBP makes him a great lead off candidate. On top of that he can probably stick at a premium position. Guys like Thompson and Mitchell always have higher upside, but there are serious issues with their swings hence higher bust potential. Until they can produce at a consistent level, Saladino will be the more promising and safer prospect.
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ May 9, 2012 -> 10:09 PM) After this weekend with Humber and Stults, the next five games look like: M: Danks-Smyly T: Peavy-Scherzer W: Floyd-CJ Wilson R: Humber-Jerome Williams F: Stults-Samardjia Without facing Verlander and Weaver next week, it's a schedule that sets up well to get hot. It's an opportunity at least. Humber and Stults could be flipped. They haven't decided yet. Outside of Scherzer, all of those pitchers are having a very fine year
  10. I think we have been pretty good at developing bullpen arms the last few seasons. With that 97 mph heat, Nate Jones is starting to look eerily similar to Sergio Santos.
  11. I think Saladino might be our best position prospect right now, and I think he can be a pretty good one. He has an insane K/BB rate of 10/2 over the past 10 games. He's not showing as much power as last season, but I think he's trying to hit for contact instead, as evident by his lower K rate. He's on pace to steal 40 bases as well, a great improvement from last season. With the rate that he gets on base, and his improved base running, if he can stick to SS or 2B, he can be our leadoff hitter for years to come.
  12. Does Ventura has a man crush on Santiago? He's clearly not a late inning guy. He needs to be sent down to Double A and stretch out as a starter.
  13. Mitchell with 8 strikeouts in his last 15 ABs. Yikes. Anyone know what is the dimension of Kanny ball park? Kevan Smith hasn't displayed the type of power as expected of a power hitter, and I am still waiting for a game where he simply explodes, like last year.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 5, 2012 -> 05:53 PM) We have ourselves a real closer gentlemen. Until Monday
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 2, 2012 -> 11:04 AM) Interesting. 29th round pick in 2010, repeated GF in 2011. Not a lot of power, but does hit for average since last year. Strikeout rate is low. Just turned 22 in March, so he's more or less age-appropriate in W-S (after being double-promoted from GF). The fact that they had him leap to A+ from GF probably indicates the organization sees something in him. Anyone have any scouting info? Anything on his defense? He turned 24 in March actually. If he continues to hit, and finish the year in Double A at 24, then it will get a little interesting.
  16. People are raving about Shoemaker and Black, but no one is talking about this Earley kid. Quietly, he is hitting .425/4/12 with an OPS of 1.303 in his last 10 games. He only struck out 8 time in 78 ABs. His hitting is probably not a fluke, as he did hit .307 in GF last season, it just look like he's developing more power this season. And he's a year younger than both Black and Shoemaker.
  17. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 02:27 PM) He won't ever be the same athlete though after that injury. Will he ever get his explosiveness back?
  18. The only, ONLY remote possibility I see the Bulls winning the finals is Lebron or Wade get knocked out by the Pacers in the second round. If we somehow get past a beat up Celtics team in the second round, we will face a young and inexperienced Pacers team in the ECF. After the Pacers take us to the limit in the ECF, we face an old and tired leg Spurs team that simply ran out of gas in the Finals, and we win in 7! Perfect ending script to a rough year for the Bulls.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 29, 2012 -> 04:27 AM) And you say I'm not a real fan? You want to see Rose flourish and become the best player in the NBA for another franchise? That's like your wife leaving you for some rich f*** and you saying you want her to be happy in the end. If it's for the best. I know how much damage serious knee injuries can do to a player. The list of superstars whose career got killed by knee injuries goes on and on. If the injury, rehab, and prevention procedures are not done properly, the knee will likely to go bad again. Guys like Grant Hill and Michael Redd suffered several years of irrelevancy due to repeat knee injuries. Brandon Roy retired at age 26 after 6 knee surgeries. If it means to save the career of my favorite player, and protect his knee for the next several years, then I am fine with it.
  20. I love Derrick Rose as a player. I wish the best for him. I have friends who went to the same high school with him. I want to see him succeed and become the best in the NBA. Even if he is no longer a part of the Bulls team. If it takes trading him to Phoenix to protect his knee for the next couple of years, I am all for it. I want to see him regain his form and become the fun player I enjoyed watching the last 4 years, even if it means to see him in a Suns uniform. But seriously, can we get JR to sign the entire Phoenix Suns training staff this off season? They have done wonders to Grant Hill, Michael Redd, and Amare's knees, and Nash is still going strong at 38. Time to get rid of this current garbage training staff and get a useful one.
  21. If this knee injury is anything serious, Rose may never be the same player again. He's gone through toe, back, groin, foot, and ankle injuries this season, but the knee is the last body part I want to see damage on his body. Knee injuries has changed the careers of Brandon Roy, Oden, Jermain Oneal, Elton Brand, Mcgrady, Grant Hill, Michael Redd, Yao Ming and so on. As good as Chris Paul is this season, he is no longer the same player he was 3 years ago. And out of all those players, Rose requires his athleticism the most. At least point, I might actually prefer to shut him down the rest of the season to preserve his long term health.
  22. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 12:02 AM) But neither one of them were bust in the traditional sense. They both had injuries/diseases that hindered their progress. It was more unlucky than bad picks. They weren't busts yet heading into this season, but this was the boom or bust season for both, and both are looking to be more boom than bust.
  23. In other news, our other first round pick in 2009 is hitting .385 in Triple A with 7 strikeouts in 65 ABs. Funny how both Mitchell and Phegley look like busts heading into this year, and both are turning things around at the same time. Perhaps we are 2 for 2 in 2009?
  24. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 09:29 AM) DWade and Bron are masters of ref b****ing and guess what, they go to the FT line a lot. The difference is they get in the face of the refs after every non call until the refs give them a call. They never went out out to the media and claim to be the only person in the league not to get a call. I am all for D Rose complaining more about calls, but there are proper ways to do it. And I am just pointing out that there are a lot more Anti Derrick Rose sentiment this season because of some of his comments to the media.
  25. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 09:15 AM) These two words should not be used together. I find some analysts like Adande and Wilbon to be insightful. I used to hate Hollinger's guts, but I hate him less now that he stops bashing about the Bulls. Rich Bucher is a big fan of the Bulls, but his knowledge is lacking. Skip Bayless is still resident troll like always.
