2011-2012 NBA Season Thread

There is complaining, and there is over exaggerating. Some of his complaints are the most well worded. Comments like "I got to be the only superstar in the league to not get any calls" aren't going to win him any media or fan support. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 08:56 AM) I don't think people care about the complaining. He needs to play. Go read up articles on ESPN. Analysts basically told him to stop crying, and fans are bashing him like never before. Even the "self proclaim" D Rose fans are tired of his complaining. -

I think we have reached a down point of Derrick Rose's career. Suffering countless injuries game after game "Players are taking cheap shots against him" Media and the die hard fans are turning against him for complaining about calls Fans and people in this forum are upset with his recent poor play And he has really played below the expectation for the first time in his career. I just want the playoffs to come right now so Rose can focus and put all these behind him. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 10:02 PM) Kuhn has a friggin bat. Remenowsky in AA so far: 5.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K I still don't get why they have been moving Shoemaker through the system so slowly. Anyone know anything about his defensive abilities? I still think he's a starter, and a good one, in the majors. If someone from the starting staff goes down, he's on top of my list. Above Stewart certainly. Because he is being blocked by KW Jr. in LF in Double A

QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 10:16 PM) It's just fairly obvious that LeBron can completely take him out of his game when he sits his mind to it. When that happens, the Bulls are much better without him even on the floor. So what are you saying? The Bulls are a better team against the Heat without Rose? Talk to me in the playoffs, and see if they can win a game without him. Lebron couldn't win a championship for his team, is his team better without him? Rose has been terrible the past two games, but give it sometime, he will be back, better and smarter. -

I don't get all the pessimism on Rose. Yes, he has had two horrible games after the injury, but considering he's probably still injured and not in rhythm right now, it is not the time to panic. People just have incredible short term memories, when healthy, he is still an MVP caliber player and still going to improve from here on out, but he didn't lose the ability to play basketball just because of a groin and an ankle injury. The Heat are a flawed team as you can see tonight, and they are terrible against good teams on the road this season. I don't see a reason to panic even if we lost tonight. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 09:16 PM) Didn't the Heat win that game? With a big run late when Lebron started guarding Rose? I believe the Heat was up by double digits early in the fourth and Rose was leading a comeback for the Bulls. The Heat couldn't stop Rose's penetration virtually the entire game, He actually took 13 shots at the rim, even when Lebron was guarding him, he was still able to get to the rim, just didn't finish some of the shots. There is no reason why Rose won't go at Lebron if he is healthy in the playoffs. Had he not brick the two free throws or missed the easy look at the end of the game, we would have won. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) Excuses excuses....he wont go to the hoop when LeBron guards him, injury or not. This is a repeat of games 2-5 of the playoffs. I recognize he's rusty, but he's still afraid to go to th hole, and that isnt going to change. Wh are you so afraid to criticize the guy? I am sorry, but did you watch the first Bulls Heat game this season? -
What's the scouting report on Mitchell's speed and base running nowadays. He steals far too less bases for a once elite level athlete.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2012 -> 09:45 AM) When a guy is a top 10 in the MVP voting level player but never reaches the #1 MVP, best player in the league for a year or two level, he has a shot at the HOF, but he needs the career milestones to do it. 3000 hits or 500 HR or something like that. Guys like Biggio, Michael Young, etc. I am curious how many times Paulie has finished top 10 in MVP voting. I don't think he was even a top 5 player in the league at any given year, when defense is considered. When Paulie retires, the WAR value could become even more common in evaluating the HOF credential of a player, and WAR has never favored Paulie. To be honest, I don't even think 500 HR would put him in automatically, but it would give him an outside shot. If he does get in, it won't be because of his dominance over several peak years, it would be for his longevity and consistency.

He's top five in almost every category in our franchise, Yet he's still not considered a Hall of Famer. Speaks a lot about our franchise.

Ozzie 2.0 with FOUR errors today, and 0 for 14 batting on the season. Impressive.

I think Rose came back a different person. He was yelling at the refs throughout and he was doing Joakim's pistol swing after the 4 point play. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 6, 2012 -> 07:28 AM) Get off the internet at a bar dude! Thought I would like to share this OMG moment of seeing D Rose in person for the first time with this forum. Believe it or not, he's so chill like always, even at a bar, and sipping on some drinks. One of my friend's female friend was trying to hit on him but got turn down cold. -

Currently in Sound Bar right now and spotted D Rose in the club! I guess dude has his own way of shaking off the basketball rust. And he looks good enough that he could have played tonight. -

I don't get the Camby, Chandler, or Okafor comparison at all. For one, Davis is way more athletic than Camby is/was, he's got better basketball IQ and bigger hands than Chandler, and Okafor is more bulkier and less mobile than Davis. And Davis is more of a 4 than a 5. Davis has similar build, athleticism, and style of game to a young KG. I am not surprised if he turns out to be a poor man's KG as soon as 3 years down the road. -

Also, a healthy Andrew Bynum could challenge Dwight as the best center in the league next season, he is a legit low post scorer and brings the same intensity defensively. -

Last night saw Rose's slim chance of repeating as MVP went out the window. But I have to say, missing Rip for 3/4th of the season and Rose for another 15 games and various injuries to the rest of the roster, the Bulls are somehow the best team in the league. I know Popovich is doing great things in San Antonio without Manu, but if Thibs doesn't repeat as COY, it would be a travesty. -

Is this video awkward to anyone else? Can someone tell me why the Bobcats are a bad team from this video? -

Dwight Howard stays in Orlando, all the hype and drama before the deadline. I don't see any other significant trades will made today, this could be the most boring and overblown deadline ever. -

I like how every broadcasting team has a different weight for Lebron. The ESPN crew just called Lebron 6'8 and 280. I guess his forehead grew 40 lbs. -

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Mar 12, 2012 -> 11:24 PM) The only sure fire real deal is Davis and even with worse record chances are they don't get him, add in the fact of Jordan's basketball decisions not too worried about Bobcats being good in near future. If they get Davis, a trio of him, Biyombo and Henderson will make them excellent defensive unit already, that team could be something special. But I like Barnes a lot too, he will not be a superstar, but his scoring potential will make him an all star in the near future. -

If I were the Bulls, I would trade the Charlotte pick while it has some value. Charlotte will finish with the worst record this year, they will almost certain to land either Davis, Barnes, or Drummond, and perhaps another top 5 selection in 2013. They will be a force in the East by 2015. A core of Biyombo, Anthony Davis, Henderson, Kemba Walker (and bless not Shabazz Muhammad) is and excellent core to build on.
