  1. Realmuto might be out of price range for a lot of teams and McCann would be the more realistic out option. Besides Contreras and maybe a Keibert Ruiz, who both would command top prospects or cost controlled resources in return, there isn't a better option on the trade market either. I look at the list of contending team who could in the market for a C, here's what I have: Nats, Mets, Indians, Astros, Yankees, Rockies and Cards (if Yadi retires) . I could see Blue Jays and Marlins having some interest too even if it's not a priority. I couldn't imagine no team is willing to pay starter money and a starting job to McCann with how weak the free agent class is for catchers.
  2. McCann is the clear cut 2nd best free agent catcher available. We have to outbid everyone plus promise him enough playing time. I don't see a realistic shot of resigning him, even though I would love to have him back.
  3. Been spending too much time on MLB the Show, ehh?
  4. He earned the award for moves made over the past 4 years. He wasn’t going to win the award for trading for prospects like Eloy, Giolito, signing Robert, locking up TA, etc. when the team hasn’t shown any success. The minute they do, then he gets the recognition, that’s how these awards work.
  5. Is this a Rangers fan trolling?
  6. I couldn’t help but think those that are gunning for Hinch also bashed Astros for cheating last year. It’s different if you’re associated with cheating vs. when others are.
  7. You can add Fulmer and Rodon to the list. He had some input on Hansen's development, but won't be fair to put it all on him.
  8. Is this just Nightengale speculating? His word choices made it seem like it is.
  9. I also expect there will be a healthy number of 1 year deals taken this off-season, which would work well for the Sox in the grand scheme of things.
  10. Where are you getting this from? I am wary of his body type, defensive position, and plate discipline. I couldn't find any recent updates on him.
  11. By 2024, Gio, Grandal, and Keuchel are FAs and need to be replaced, Kopech is entering his last year of arb. The group of Robert, Moncada, TA, and Eloy makes $70M alone. Add Harper to the team and you're looking at $100M for just 5 players.
  12. Sox won't take on Harper contract. This core is going to get really expensive in the next 3-4 years. If they do take on a contract like that, they pretty much have to win now and tear it down shortly after that.
  13. I think Keuchel will likely see the biggest regression of everyone on the team. That said, I still see him as a solid 3. If we don’t resign McCann, it may have negatively affect Gio also. SP should definitely be at the top of our shopping list, and we need more than a Quintana unfortunately.
  14. Lol shit I remember this. I was a big fan of Bassitt back then, along with a few others on this board. But I just never thought it would come back to haunt us 6 years later.
  15. Wouldn’t it impact all teams? If it does, does that worsen Sox chance at Bauer in particular?
  16. I think this offseason will show us how committed JR is in winning another WS. On paper, adding Bauer alone makes this team a legit WS contender. He is going to cost us, and may make some headlines off the field, but it's well worth it.
  17. If everything pans out. Right now, I don't have good confidence in any of the 3 to be a quality #2 or 3 starter next year. Rest of the team is ready, offense, defense, bullpen (with another high leverage piece), waiting to see if these guys develop would be wasting a year of our window. I am fine if these guys are penciled in as 4/5 and let them develop, not a 2/3.
  18. Probably realistic, but I don't feel much more comfortable with Q starting today's game than Dunning. In that case, we pretty much have to expect 2/3 from the Cease/Dunning/Kopech group to take big steps if we are to become legit contenders.
  19. A bittersweet season is in the books. The silver lining of the early playoff exit is there is no excuse for us not to add quality starting pitching in the offseason. Had we had a competent #3 starter, we would have easily came out on top. Who is the most likely addition? Is Bauer dream realistic? Is Kluber worth the gamble? Does Stroman move the needle? Can Q still pitch? Are there realistic trade candidates?
  20. No issues with that swing at the end. That’s a hit 7 times out of 10. He had a lot of success going the other way on pitches low and outside this year.
  21. Crochet opener follow by Rodon in bulk might not be the worst idea. A's have a 104 wRC+ vs R. but just a 93 wRC+ vs lefties. If those two could collectively give you 5 innings, then you throw Dunning and/or Cease out there for an inning or two before handing it over to the backend of the bullpen.
  22. He's a little hotter than Luzardo, but still a good matchup for us.
  23. What are the pitching matchups? I would think former Sox Bassitt will get a start, most likely game 2. The A’s pretty much have to trot a lefty out there for game 1 (I’m guessing Luzardo). I would counter with Gio for game 1 follow by Dallas. McCann catches game 1 and gets to face a lefty.
  24. I wouldn't buy it. Too early to make that statement. If you take his hot 4th quarter away (you can't, but for the sake of argument), then for the 7/8 quarters so far he's basically the same QB as he was last year, and we played two pretty bad teams so far.
