QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 11:18 AM) Paul Zipser looks like he can play. He isn't a defensive sieve and he looks like he's got some stones for a rookie. Hit some huge shots late, including a nice drive. Looks the opposite of Niko and Doug, who tend to be defensive sieves that make a lot of "negative" plays. What the hell is the real story with Denzel Valentine. Something has to be going on that is driving him to get such little playing time? The inability to develop Portis, Valentine, Niko, and Doug are so damning. While I don't expect any of those guys to be great, they all have enough talent to be solid rotational guys, imo. We aren't seeing it at all though. I feel part of that is how jacked around some of them get (Niko being the exception...I feel he gets too long of a leash at times, but I just can't bear with how little progress we've seen). Going off on a bit of tangent here, the FO got credit for drafting well when we got great value from Butler, Taj, and to some extent Noah. But those guys were drafted over half a decade ago. Portis, Valentine, Niko, Doug, Snell, and Teague have all been disappointments, the last draftee to really exceed expectation was Jimmy. When you don't draft well, you couldn't sign free agents, and you don't capitalize via trades, it's easy to see why we're in a predicament with one star and a deteriorating core. Yep, this FO blows.

According to the same rumor that leaked Randy winning the Rumble, it will be Randy vs Bray, not Cena, at WM. Cena's dropping title at EC, which makes his record tying 16th reign only 2 weeks long. Blah. I'm guessing Joe will be revealed as the mystery last person to enter EC this week or next, confronting Cena and AJ. Also my guess for Finn not returning last night is either his recovery is behind schedule, or they already have plans for the top guys at WM and don't want to have him return early to feud with midcards. Since the Monday night Raw after WM is a big deal these days, I would expect Jericho to proclaim he's the best in the world after winning title at WM, Finn's music hits and gets a huge pop for his long awaited return, and wants back the title he never lost. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 29, 2017 -> 09:42 PM) For the people that said there were a lot of surprising things...what were you surprised about? I'm not asking that to be an asshole, I'm actually interested. Orton winning would have been a surprise had the rumors not leaked a few days earlier. I saw the Goldberg and Lesnar spot coming, this help them set things up for WM. The only surprise for me was Reigns entering at 30 and eliminating Taker. -

After all the hype, buildup, speculations, this is the least exciting rumble matches in the last 10 years. No real highlights from this match, no surprise entrants. Braun was the only bright spot early on in this match. Way to ruin this one WWE. -

This ramp up to the ring is almost as bad as the one in Levi stadium at WM31. That Taker entrance is going to take at least 5 minutes out of the match. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 29, 2017 -> 10:53 AM) I love that Bayley is my favorite wrestler and I almost always root for her to lose ha. Anyways lets play another game. There's 8 "mystery" spots in the rumble, lets try to guess all 8. My random guesses are: 1. Samoan Joseph 2. Angle 3. Kane 4. Dillinger 5. Crews 6. Ellsworth 7. TJ Perkins 8. Mysterio Locks 1. Finn 2. Joe 3. Dillinger 4. kane Guesses 5. Triple H 6. Sting (perhaps sets up Sting vs Taker at WM) 7. DBry (For fun, or it could be Shelton Benjamin here) 8. Perkins -

For some strange reason Randy Orton is now the betting favorite to win the RR. Doesn't make sense to me storyline wise, but having someone from SD winning the Rumble really shows the show is gaining a lot of momentum. -
In other news, best record or not, Warriors should not have 4 all stars, Gobert, KAT, Dame Lillard, and Conley are more deserving than Klay. Nikola Jokic could be the best second round pick since Marc Gasol or Gil Arenas, at just 21 years old. Dude is already the complete package on offense.

We have been singing the tune of emptying out this FO for a few years now, but we have not heard one single whisper that someone in the FO is in the hot seat. A better question is when would we realistically seen GarPax being replaced? Would missing the PO's this year do it, would a bottom 10 record do it? Or would they be given the leash for one more season of mediocrity before anything happens?

QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 03:21 PM) Bleacher Report @BleacherReport 20m20 minutes ago More Knicks reportedly offered Carmelo Anthony to Cavaliers in trade for Kevin Love, per @ESPNSteinLine DETAILS: http://ble.ac/2j5Rfa4 I think Rose would actually be good second unit PG for the Cavs. They have no PG depth right now, and they need someone who could do some drive and kicks in that second unit. Would cost them a lot less than Love. Edit: salary match is a problem though.

A match with Shane at WM does absolutely nothing for Styles. After getting Super Cena'd then having to face Shane is a good way to slow the momentum for your hottest star. I think we have a better chance of seeing DB vs Miz than Shane vs Styles. -

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 02:53 PM) Salary dump. My favorite prank over the years was when Phillies trade Kyle Kendrick for Kobayashi the hot dog eater. If we could get similar value in return, I call that a win. -

Yordano Ventura, Andy Marte both killed in separate car accidents

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Jan 22, 2017 -> 12:15 PM) What are the numbers of DUI deaths in other sports? And it's not their responsibility based on what other than your opinion? Other sports do not have a high number of LatAm players like baseball. As others mentioned, driving in DR is completely different. -

QUOTE (reiks12 @ Jan 22, 2017 -> 10:35 AM) Not to turn this political or anything but someone needs to educate the young Latin players on being safe. I know its hard to expect maturity out of early twenty year olds but this is getting ridiculous. How? No idea but I am tired and sad of hearing about these young kids getting killed because of drugs and recklessness. I don't blame these guys since they probably came from nothing and have the world by the balls now. I did some really stupid stuff when I was in my early twenties. Still, how many more deaths will happen before solutions will be discussed? I never liked Ventura but this is depressing. My Royals friends are besides themselves right now You have to understand that these people grew up in LatAm and were in their country during the time of the crash. From what my friends have told me, DUI is nowhere as heavily regulated as is in America. I even have a friend from Puerto Rico who told me that he had crashed into a light post while DUI when he was living in PR and the police came and just drove him home without giving him a ticket. There are many, many DUI cases in LatAm, unfortunately these people just happened to be baseball players. Their countries needs to heighten the regulation for DUI if they want to keep the roads safe for everyone. There is not much MLB can do about this. Hopefully the LatAm players take these accidents to heart and think again before they DUI back in LatAm. -
Not a Typical Rebuild According to White Sox
thxfrthmmrs replied to Thomas_Ventura_Roberts's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If they want to "retool" not rebuild then F them. But yea, this is a PR answer based on the state of the franchise. We will know by the end of the off season how competitive we will be next season. Still expect a couple more vets to be traded, in which case would make it hard for us not to lose. -

I'm not too big on Finn for now. He's a great worker and has a good gimmick, but he's barely spend any time on the main roster and already won the Universal belt once. He's still got some room to improve on the mic and could use some time to establish himself on the main roster. I'd rather see the new guys come up establish themselves organically first before being pushed, unless you're AJ Styles and are head and shoulders better than everyone else on Smackdown. -

So who do you guys want to win the Rumble, and who do you think actually wins? Personally, I'd like Owens to retain against Reigns and Sami winning the Rumble match. Had they give Sami a better push, it'd set up a great match between him and Owens at WM. But realistically I think we will see either Taker, Jericho, or Finn (making a surprise entry) winning it. I just don't see a whole lot of possibilities here. Lesnar and Goldberg will get each other at WM, so they're out of the picture. Braun isn't ready to main event WM (though his chances increases if Reigns beats Owens), and Rollins will get Triple H at WM, and WWE has passed on him getting the belt way too many times since his comeback so I doubt they let him win this year. Most of the wrestling world is making the Taker prediction, and in this day and age, if your Rumble match results are this predictable (and the person winning isn't deserving - all due respect to Taker, he can't be the champ if he can't wrestle more than 2 matches a year), it does not sit well with the fans, especially the smarks. If Taker wins, I'd expect a lot of boos. Edit: I can see Miz being a dark horse pick from Smackdown. He's had a great year, would be great on the mic doing promos with Cena in weeks leading up to WM. Him losing to Ambrose in their IC match, then winning Rumble to go on to face Cena at WM, and Cena putting him over. That would be much better than Taker winning IMO. -
QUOTE (ChiSox1917 @ Jan 14, 2017 -> 03:12 AM) As if we're going to compete with the Cubs in the next 3 years. Who cares about some stupid stigma. It's widely believed that Reinsdorf doesn't want to trade with the Cubs. That's why you haven't heard Cubs involved in the Sales or Q trade talks.
-
Q to Cubs is what I want as well. Jimenez, Happ, Cease, Candelario, and Chesny Young for Q, Robertson and $8 M. I think this is a great trade for both sides, it's a shame because there seems to be a stigma for trading with the Cubs these days.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 13, 2017 -> 12:27 PM) Pretty sure the Sox are looking for at least three players in a trade. Although if Bridich calls up Hahn and offers "Rodgers + Dahl for Quintana" I would pack Q's bag and drive him to the airport Rockies fans would be pretty furious. No mlb team could be a Dahl/Rodgers offer unless teams opened up the whole farm for the sox It's actually light on the Rockies side. I'd take a lotto ticket or two. Dahl is likely ranked around 20th had he qualified, Rodgers is 10th. Considering Sale got us a top 5 and 22nd prospect and two more guys, and even then some think we could've gotten more, only Dahl and Rodgers for Q is a bit light. There's also a certain team that traded Swanson, Inciarte and another top 50 guy for Shelby Miller, who is less valuable than Q. Not saying that's the blue print, but just to give an idea of Q's value here.
-
Good to see teams coming back in. So.. is Arizona looking to get another starter? We have a pretty good one to trade and I know they have the balls.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 10, 2017 -> 09:12 PM) Saladino, Lawrie and Sanchez are all better options than Micah.Do you remember how much of a butcher Micah was at second? Beyond horrible, the stuff nightmares are made of. We're talking some seriously f***ing bad joojoo on Micah's glove and defensive footwork. The team that just DFA'd Micah is looking for a 2B. What does that tell ya? The team that DFA'd him is looking to win the World Series. We are in a place where we should take on a reclamation projects (I honestly think he's one of the best reclamation projects left in the market), playing guys like Sanchez or Leury who has not projections left is not going to help this franchise. If Micah flopped, then more L for us. If he turns it around offensively or defensively, we could get something out of him down the road.
