  1. QUOTE (striker @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 11:53 AM) I love bouncing my trade ideas off of Dave Cameron. From the chat today... Striker 12:36 Quintana and Jones for Glasnow, Meadows, Bell and Keller Dave Cameron 12:36 Probably too rich for PIT, but interesting. Jones is worth a lot, so maybe that's not so far off. LOL. I'd be happy to get Meadows, Bell and Keller for Q. If we throw in Jones we get Glasnow? Sign me up!
  2. Yes, Houston please pony up. I wanna see a Sale vs Q battle in the ALCS.
  3. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 18, 2016 -> 05:01 PM) 31 starts 4.89 ERA 176 IP 129 K 155 BB 38 HR 1 CG 2 SO 14 QS Your turn I mean anyone who would allow 155 walks in a season has no business pitching in the big leagues.
  4. I don't even think Giolito should fall that far, especially if you're in the camp that believes Coop could correct the tinkering Nats tried on Giolito's mechanics last season and help him develop into a better pitcher going forward.
  5. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 16, 2016 -> 04:23 PM) They measure the farm by going at least 20 deep. The Sox drafting has been consistently below par for years, although some argue it's been better recently and perhaps it has been (last year's draft may turn out a lot better than usual, but the drafting still displayed a lot of Hahn/Williams ongoing bad habits). They also short-shrift the international market and were more than willing to throw in their top international prospect when the Padres were just looking to salary dump James Shields. That kind of nonsense has to be corrected or the Sox will rebuild for 10 years. But or now, a top 8 or so system I'd say and the top 10 is in the top 3 or 4. If we gut out the big league club (Q, Frazier, Abreu, Jones, Robertson, Melky), we'd have 10-11 guys in the Top 100, with 2 of the likely Top 5 (and Fulmer, Adams, and Burdi are firmly in the 100-150 range). While Frazier, Robertson and Melky will not likely to haul in any Top 100 prospects, our return would likely be a number of quality prospects from other org's top 10-20 list. When the dusts settles, the homegrown guys like Hawkins, May, Barnum, and Adolfo would not even crack our Top 30. Seriously, how many far systems in the past 10 years carry that kind of top end talent and depth? That's why if we don't end up with the best farm after trading all of those guys, I might just stop following this team.
  6. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 16, 2016 -> 03:34 PM) I'd be pretty disappointed if we weren't top 2 after all those players were moved. I'll be VERY disappointed if we don't have THE best farm in baseball, after getting 5-6more Top 100 talents and a few more lottery tickets.
  7. I looked at his 2016 Indy league stats and they definitely weren't MVP worthy... I then finally clicked on the link and learned that he's only the Indy league ASG MVP
  8. Soo.. is Beer the second coming of Bryce Harper? What's all the hype about?
  9. Maybe Rollins and Reigns, but none of these guys need the tag belts.
  10. QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Dec 11, 2016 -> 01:39 AM) Im not high on Anderson, either. I think he's just another strikeout commando, which will lead him to peak as a middle infield bench player. Sure, he can catch, and he can run. But that will mean exactly Jack and s*** if he can't get on base. I absolutely HATE this moronic idea that speedy strikeout commandos should be batted high in the order. Nothing about his game suggests that he'll ever be able to get on base enough to EARN the leadoff spot. Of course, this means that this stupid organization will bat him first as he Ks his way to a craptacular .280 OBP, which will hurt the entire lineup, & the trade prospects for everyone else in it. Trolling so hard...
  11. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 01:08 PM) If Basabe can improve his hit tool he could be an excellent prospect Scouting grades: Hit: 45 | Power: 55 | Run: 60 | Arm: 60 | Field: 55 | Overall: 50 He is above average in every other skill and is only 20 years old. There is plenty of development and projection left, but this is exactly the sort of player the White Sox should gamble on in the back end of trades that could end being a mlb regular Let's see what the white sox can do about that hit tool. If he can hit for above average, he'd be a top 100 prospect next year.
  12. Anyone know what Rick Hanh is up to today? Is he on the phone making deal, or is he busy toying with the sacks he took from Rizzo yesterday?
  13. Here's the thing - if you don't take the Nats offer, you are in a lose lose situation. That's why the deal had to be made, regardless if it was pitching heavy. 1. You aren't going to find a better offer for Eaton than the one you got, take the best offer, regardless of position, we did not yet have a surplus of pitching 2. His value is at an all time high, his playing style is more prone to injuries. What if you hold on to him and he gets injured or he could not repeat the season he had? 3. If you don't trade him when the offer is right, the other fans will b**** about this being a half ass rebuild, no one should be off-limits yaddy yaddy yadda.
  14. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 11:32 PM) Honestly, I don't think GMs really give a damn what the media or fans say about who won the trade. They made the trade because they trust their own scouts and analytics and personnel. They should trust their guys more than they trust Twitter. Right, this one is on the Nationals' FO, not Hanh or KW. The general consensus is the Red Sox got fair value if not gotten the better end of the Sale deal, so this trade did not set a new precedent here.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 08:15 PM) Stole this from white sox Dave It's already updated on MLB.com http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=prospects Top 10 is looking hella nice.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:10 PM) We had good pitching. That wasn't the problem. Seriously? We still had 17 starts by guys like Shields, Latos and Danks (I will leave out Gonzalez as he was actually decent). If we replace those with quality pitchers in the back end, we easily could have 4-5 more wins in 2016. We had quality pitching, but it was top heavy. Our bullpen sucked. In Rodon, Giolito, Kopech, Lopez, Burdi, Fulmer, Hansen, Dunning, Adams and Stephens we have a bunch of guys with number 1-3 starter potential, and a couple more solid BP arms. If you could field a rotation like that, you all of a sudden have the rotation quality and quantity of the Mets or the Indians, whose offense does not impress me. We're not done yet, we still have Q, who could easily get us 2-3 high end positional prospects, Frazier and Jones who could get us a couple more. Add it to a core of Moncada, Anderson, Collins, and Basabe then we have an offense that's easily better than the Mets or Indians, FA signing not yet considered.
  17. Seriously, would a return like this be possible 10 years ago, without popularizing advanced stats?
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) I don't get all the Top 10 mentions for Tilson I keep seeing, here and elsewhere. I have a hard time putting him higher than the 15-20 range, probably lower. Apparently I'm far lower on him that most. And I still think Adams is no longer deserving of a slot in the top 5 or 6. In fact with the new names, he's not in my Top 10. Agreed on both, but sadly off top of my head I don't see many justifiable options other than moving up Stephen, Call, or Fisher.
  19. BTW did anyone catch Keith Law's interview yesterday calling Moncada a "top 10 or 15 prospect", instead of top 5 or one of the best prospects. I see that he's either applying his White Sox curve to Moncada or he's heavily penalizing him for his 19 AB flunk in September.
  20. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:02 PM) My point was Sale got away with a lot of s*** that is unacceptable because of his talent. Obviously sports provide superstar treatment, but people need to stop acting like its excusable, because if one player does it and it's insane, it's insane for all players. What other s***?
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 01:55 PM) Asking a team NOT to have a jersey because he didn't like it sure sounds like the superstar treatment to me. I'm specifically responding to the repercussion Q mentioned for Lawrie or Anderson. I didn't hear Sale saying I'm Chris freaking Sale, you cannot cut me or suspend me for my actions.
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 01:42 PM) It was on the calendar for months. The apologists for that episode are ridiculous. If Anderson went nuts and did that he'd have been sent to AAA, someone like Lawrie would probably get cut. Does not mean he got to try on the jersey months before. And without knowing the details behind the scene, who knows Sale didn't bring up this issue before and FO chose to ignore, so he went the extreme? I am saying he's a rebel and a hard head. But there is a fine line between that and an "asshat" that being thrown around here. And come on, it's like you're comparing Jimmy Butler or D Wade to Denzel Valentine or Doug McDermott here. In every sport, your best players are always treated differently by THE TEAM. I didn't hear Sale asking for superstar treatment here.
  23. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 01:27 PM) What did Ken Williams do that made him an asshole? He was responding to a complaint from in the locker room. And if you cut up an entire wardrobe of jerseys before a game because you don't like the color, you're a jerk. That's not the story. He cut up the jersey because they weren't comfortable to pitch in, it would affect his performance. He complained to Brooks Hoyer and the FO but they won't listen. Sale felt that the management was too focused on marketing and jersey sales, not winning or the baseball game itself. He rebelled and cut up the jersey. To each their own, I don't think I, or other fans, need to hate or hold a grudge on him for this.
  24. I just don't see them parting with Turner. So this has gotta be a bait again for teams like Astros and Cardinals trying to make a move for these two.
  25. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 01:09 PM) It's just White Sox fan mentality. They have to find something wrong with their nice things. Sale is pretty flawless on the field, so when he calls that asshole KW an asshole, the guy is a total douchebag. The same thing happens with Eaton. There was some anonymous comment when he was traded here how it was addition by subtraction for AZ because he was cocky. Eaton addressed it right away, said he was surprised anyone felt like that, apologized if he offended anyone. Thought he got along with everyone OK, said he had to play with a chip on his shoulder and a cocky attitude to be successful. He is successful, and even though he has been here 3 years, no one plays harder, he now has attitude issues, you know from that report in AZ. He's a clubhouse cancer, no one can stand him even though they made him the player rep, and he's pretty certain to have a public meltdown if the Sox trade away most of their core but keep him. It's some of the goofiest stuff I have ever read. And I've read most of Caulfield's posts. LOL at the bold part. Not everyone can be like Buehrle or Konerko. If you look closely every player on the team has their flaws, some stories you just don't hear. I don't expect pro athletes to be perfects human beings. I don't know Sale nor Eaton off the field, but they both busted their ass off for the team and seem like pretty cool dudes based on articles or interviews. That's all I care about.
