  1. i love me some AJP. he's such an asshole, he knows it, opposing teams know it. BUT, he's a grinder and competitor for sure. you can't take that away from him. people hate on that because he brings it EVERY day. i was so happy the day KW signed him. i knew from his days in MIN that he was one of those guys, similar to a Dennis Rodman, that you just absolutely hated playing against but LOVED to have on your team. i really hope he gets another WS ring this year. he's breathed life into this team, into the pitching staff, and hopefully he gets another shot at winning one.
  2. the way Buehlre pitches, there's no reason why he couldn't play his career out like Jamie Moyer did! BUT, i'm sure once his contract is up he'd be more than welcomed back with opens arms to the organization is any capacity they could fit him. #56 is a class-act and i don't blame him for taking the money. he given a lot of great memories to us fans. so i hope he enjoys living it up on that $56M!!
  3. i'm sure it's already been said (didn't read through this thread), but Beckham is probably one of THE most frustrating players to watch. it seemed like he turned the corner when he was in the #2 spot before Youk arrived. there was a dramatic increase in his numbers, absolutely due to the fact the heart of the order was protecting him. as soon as Youk got here, Becks get put at the bottom of the order and he's just failed miserably once again. granted, he not in the lineup for his bat. so anything he does produce down at the bottom of the order is a bonus. but it's about time this kid starts producing in other ways or he's definitely gotta go. i know he's defense has been great this season, but is that enough these days to keep guys in the lineup? we've waited a pretty long time for this kid to turn the corner, but i don't really see it happening with his swing. until he decides to shorten it, he's never going to be a good offensive player.
  4. you could definitely tell these past 2 games at the Cell have been pretty packed, albeit it was July 3rd/4th...BUT, if this team continues to stay in 1st place (day 38) i'm sure more and more people are going to start coming out. i know i have already looked for tickets tomorrow or Sunday. i would like to catch a game since they are going to be on the road pretty much all month.
  5. not sure how anyone could've hated on Youk, even when he was with the Red Sox. he's a GRINDER (can we still use this term even with Ozzie gone? LOL) and it's exactly the kind of guy the Sox have been lacking since the 2005 team. i was leary about Robin slotting him in the #2 hole the way Bacon was hitting, but with Youk's OBP i think it was the right move. honestly, i don't think Beckham would have gotten the hit last night had he been in that situation. let's get the SWEEP today, boys!
  6. First baseman Justin Morneau, now 7 for 73 against left-handers this season with 22 strikeouts, talked his way into the lineup by telling manager Ron Gardenhire before the game he wanted "a piece of this kid," but a seventh-inning single was the only dent he put on yet another stellar performance by the lefty Sale. for a guy hitting .229 that's laughable. oh how the once mighty have fallen.
  7. fondest memory...didn't he blow a game against the Sox when he was pitching for the Chubs? can't say i'll miss him.
  8. hopefully Youk can spark this offense in New York the way he used to when he was with the Carmines. looking forward to an interesting 4 game series vs. the Yankees. 3-1 would be great, but i'd settle for 2-2 considering they don't have to face Sale this time around. then off the TEJAS!
  9. QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 02:07 PM) so what's the difference? Target Field? i think playing outdoors is a HUGE part of it. as cold as it is here in April, i'm sure it's worse up in MIN. bats don't like cold weather.
  10. from about July 1 to mid-Sept is when Thornton usually gets it going.
  11. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 01:59 PM) I'll give you Crain, but I don't trust Thornton his fastball is down this year and he's been roughed up at times. still posting ~3.00 ERA and about 3:1 K/BB ratio. he's gonna get to his stretch where he's un-hittable. happens every year.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 01:57 PM) All guys that Kenny picked up after bad years. you really should have specified KW making 'deals' in general, i was under the impression we were talking about dealing specifically with the Yankees. they don't have anything we want.
  13. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 01:54 PM) Imagine if this was a 1 run game instead of a blow out. Do you trust anybody in our pen? I don't. such a naysayer...Crain/Thornton have been just fine for me this season.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 01:51 PM) Or John Danks, Gavin Floyd, Phil Humber, Jose Contreras, Esteban Loaiza... i'll give you Contreras, and i'll throw in El Duque. BUT... Danks was part of the TEX deal. Floyd came from Philly. Humber was drafted by the Mets. Loaiza was with the Jays when we got him.
  15. it's not even July yet...KC will fold under the oppressive Missouri sun next month. too hot to play baseball there, even at night!!!
