This writer for MLBTR doesn’t even mention the Sox pursuing Hendriks at all. Even at the end of the article he says if Colome doesn’t resign with the Sox there’s speculation that Bummer or Marshall could be put in the closer spot. That would be a disappointment if they don’t add a closer.

This doesn’t mean that they will be bringing him back. We stayed in touch with McCann but he signed with the Mets.

So James, NSC and the food accounts are all saying that the Sox are pretty confident that they will land him. Bob Nightengale seems confident as well but Steve Stone didn’t seem overly confident so who do they sign than?

Colome isn’t coming back. Even Jesse Rogers mentioned this. Check out YouTube highlights of Hendriks appearances and you’ll see why he’s the top reliever on the market this year. He also has that fire and intensity in him that this team needs out of a closer. Colome didn’t have that.

I agree. Even Springer is asking for a lot more money than he was projected to get and he has a different agent.

It’s like they know that a team is going to step in and blow the offer they already have (presumably the Sox) out of the water and than they are going to sign with the other team or they will try to come back and ask for a final offer, etc. If they would’ve liked our offer already and the team they would’ve signed already.

Jesse Rogers had mentioned that they are moving on from Colome. I don’t think they are going to stay in house. It’s just a matter of when and who they sign now.
