This offseason has been a head scratcher to say the least.

The Sox should atleast trade Kimbrel and trade someone for another SP.

I think Conforto is going to get a shorter deal now. His market is thinning out, unless a team like the Padres come in last minute.

If one of the deals they have right now on the table is so worth it or knocks their socks off where they are getting someone really good or a bunch of prospects or a combination of that and extra cash, than they would’ve pulled the trigger by now but it sounds like they weren’t offered that yet so better to wait and see if another team becomes desperate.

Conforto may still be there since there are no rumors right now linking him. That’s the risk though to take.

So why would the Sox keep Kimbrel when they already have a closer and have signed Kelly, and Graveman this offseason?

No I don’t. I’m afraid if he frees up money that he will use it towards another bullpen arm or a utility player. I would rather he get something back from the trade than free up the money even if we have to add a player or two.
