  1. I'd vote... Vizquel (just to keep him "on the ballot" until the MILB case has been determined Jones Wagner Helton Buehrle Ortiz
  2. 2012 Rays do an extension with Longoria for 6 years, $100 million that would have kept him in Tampa thru 2023. 2017 Tampa trades him to the Giants, with cash, for a bunch of guys who never really contribute.
  3. he ran to menards last night to get them. had to capture the 11% back rebate.
  4. YouTube TV scuffled with Roku earlier this Spring too. Tweets and PR posts about them arguing over similar things. Ended up being a whole lotta nothing. I feel like this is a way for each side to "motivate their army of customers" to hate tweet/email the other threatening to leave and to blame one side or the other.
  5. here's where Tony's logic doesnt make a ton of sense. It's an important enough game (1 run in the 9th) for you to get Liam up to pitch, but it's not important enough to have Billy Hamilton pinch run for Abreu there? Have Hamilton steal 2nd and you've got a man in scoring position with 1 out??? Then, on top of it all, you bring Billy out in the bottom of the 9th as defensive replacement anyway? You pinch run Hamilton for Abreu, move Vaughn to 1st, still put Hamilton in LF and let Goodwin play RF.
  6. It’s the playoffs. If they need a game 4, either Lynn pitches on short rest, or you go with some form of a 2 man, 6ip Lopez/Kopech/Keuchel/Rodon/Crochet combination.

  8. thanks. were you able to use TSA precheck? If so, how was it? Thanks.
  9. 7 out of his 11 starts last year we’re against teams who made the post season.
  10. Man will Brian Goodwin ever see a RHP again? .118 vs LHP, .273 vs RHP.
  11. has anyone here flown Southwest out of O'Hare? What was it like having to use the International Terminal instead? If you had TSA Precheck, was it the same as going thru the Domestic Terminal?
  12. He hasn’t done anything on Twitter for 4 days. Hope he’s ok.
  13. i think some of the angst about making college "more affortable" or even free community college, is purely politics. College educated voters tend to vote heavily towards one party versus the other. So the political party who "loses" with college educated voters, doesnt really want to increase the number of those said voters.
  14. Important to point out, current 529 plan here in Illinois, is not College Illinois. Here's info on Bright Start, reviewed by Morningstar. Here’s what Morningstar had to say about Bright Start in October 2020:

  16. some math for the mom and dad's out there... putting $100/month into a 529 savings plan in Month 1 of kids life, 18 years later is nearly $50,000 assuming an 8% a year return. $250/month ends up with over $120,000. If you live in Illinois, you get 5% off your annual contributions as a credit back for state income tax.
  17. A question worth asking... how much responsibility of student loan debt falls on the parents of the students themselves? I went to College from 97-01. Went to UIC. Total cost of tuition was $15k a year including room and board. No scholarships or grants for me. I was lucky to have parents who scrimped and saved for 18 years to allow this happen. But there's a trade off in that. We didn't have cable tv growing up, didnt go on expensive vacations to Disney World, or other places, they didn't buy expensive cars, jewelry, furniture. I never had the newest Nikes or Jordans. IOU Sweatshirts or Z Cavaricci pants. (remember those) We were lower middle class. My dad never made more than $35,000 a year. Mom worked part time. I hated every minute of it, and didn't understand why my friends had these things and I didnt... until I graduated from College with $0 in debt while my friends had $50,000+.
  18. Been to Vegas 20 times in the past 15 years. Most recently this past March. Here's a few, non gambling suggestions. Never had any safety issue, including walking from Strat to the Monorail at 11pm at night. Use your Chicago Street Smarts and you'll be fine. 1. Neon Sign Museum (super cool for old time Vegas stuff) Its in a weird neighborhood, so either Rent a Car or take a Uber/Lyft. (i hear wait times are long for them now) Not sure Taxi's go regularly in that area. 2. Check out the Bellagio Garden as well as the Murano Glass in the lobby. Of course the fountains outside. 3. I hear the Pinball Museum and their new location is pretty sweet. I haven't been there myself. 4. Grab a show, but check the Discount Tickets booths that are nearby or online. The shows never sell out and last minute deals are to be had if your schedules are flexibile. 5. Best Pools I've been too... Caesars, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, Bellagio. 6. Dolphins at the Mirage. 7. New $4.2 billion resort called Resorts World Las Vegas. Most expensive resort ever built in Vegas. 8. Everything is further than it seems, walking wise. Familiarize yourself with the Monorail and buy a multi day ticket. Your feet will thank you. 9. Take a gondola ride thru the Venetian. Madame Tussauds is there too. Have a ton of fun. Vegas is the best.
  19. 29 games before the all star break. Only 8 of them against teams with winning records. Just hang on......
