Rodon is the injury replacement for Means. Can a guy hitting .155 really be an allstar?

Challenging to do. Didn't realize how poor catchers in the AL have been doing this year. 34 guys on the roster. 1 per AL team required. Here's what I came up with. C- S. Perez (KC), C. Vazquez (BOS) 1B- V. Guerrero (TOR), Y. Gurriel (HOU), J. Walsh (LAA) 2B- M. Semien (TOR), J. Altuve (HOU) SS- X. Bogarts (BOS), C. Correa (HOU) 3B- R. Devers (BOS), J. Ramirez (CLEV), Y. Moncada (CHI) OF- A. Garcia (TEX), A. Judge (NYY), M. Brantley (HOU), M. Canha (OAK), A. Benintendi (KC), C. Mullins (BALT), M. Haniger (SEA) DH- JD Martinez (BOS), N. Cruz (MIN) DH/Pitcher- S. Ohtani (LAA) P- A. Civale (CLEV), S. Bieber (CLEV), L. Lynn (CHI), K. Gibson (TEX), G. Cole (NYY), J. Means (BALT), T. Glasnow (TB), R. Hill (TB), C. Mize (DET), M. Barnes (BOS), A. Chapman (NYY), L. Hendricks (CHI)

Sorry to hear about that with the first shot. Hopefully you are 100% recovered. Part of my comment is in gest, certainly because kids can be vaccinated right now anyway. But theres a compromise to 100% opening with no proof of vaccine and 100% opening but requiring everyone to be vaccinated. Maybe you say 20-25% can be filled by those without the vaccine and the rest can be filled by vaccinated people? Weird example, but dont they have sections at the park where peanuts cant be sold. Basically because some people, even just being around peanut dust, will get a very severe allergic reaction?

Well Dunning is starting on Friday against the Sox, so we can see first hand.

Vaccine passport required and 100%. Let’s do it.

Hi. Trying to help my brother-in-law cut the cord from AT&T UVerse. They are killing him on the cost of TV. I recently switched to YouTube TV, which I like. He's a Cubs fan as is my little nephew. They'd like to keep watching Cubs games. None of the streaming services offer the Marquee Network. If they subscribe to MLB.TV app/network, can they catch the Cubs games on the Visitors Team's Channels or are those also blocked? Any work around to trying to watch Cubs games here in Chicagoland without having to use AT&T or Comcast?

This may have been posted already, but looks like he's having a tough time getting back up and throwing. From an article about a week ago. Sale is behind schedule in his recovery from Tommy John surgery and has yet to throw off a mound due to setbacks unrelated to his elbow, Red Sox chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom told MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM on Friday. Sale is a year removed from the procedure, at which point most pitchers have advanced to mound work. The southpaw isn't there yet, as he dealt with neck stiffness over the winter and then came down with COVID-19. While those setbacks might ultimately delay his timeline somewhat, it's certainly a positive that nothing has gone wrong with his arm thus far. Sale remains without a precise timeline for his return to game action.

Fans at opening day? Fans at Opening Day! (confirmed)
jasonxctf replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
curious question... did your wife have both shots in her system when she tested positive. My wife just got her 2nd yesterday here in IL. From what she was told by the staff administering it, you need 2 weeks, after your 2nd shot for it to fully take hold. You may still test positive even after the second shot is fully in place, but wont have much (if any) symptoms. -

lets hope the peer pressure of other cities allowing fans, works here. there's zero reason to not allow as many people in the ballpark on opening day, as are allowed into Water Tower Place on the same day. -
I was using baseball references similarity scores for those names.

Didn't know that WAR meant everything? Frank Thomas has a 73.8 Jim Thome has a 72.9 Mike Trout has a 74.6 Never realized that Curt Schilling was a better player than these 3 guys with lower WAR's. Curt Schilling 216-146 with a 3.46 ERA Kevin Brown 211-144 with a 3.28 ERA Bob Welch 211-146 with a 3.47 ERA. Milt Pappas 209-164 with a 3.40 ERA Mark Buehrle 214-160 with a 3.81 ERA

Schilling also didnt get in the HOF before Trump either. Guy only broke 50% 1 time in his first 5 years. He's been on a slow and steady climb since year 6, but lets not act like he's a victim since the beginning. Most guys dont need 8/9/10 years on the ballot to sneak in.

Does anyone know if MLB has officially ruled out "fans in the stands" for Spring Training? I know that Arizona had been allowing some for the NFL, but I dont think any have been allowed for NBA/NHL.

Giolito started 42 games over the past 2 seasons. 38 with McCann as catcher and 4 with Grandal. With McCann his era was 3.25 With Grandal his era was 5.66

thanks. just downloaded it.

From a pure marketing standpoint I would think the Sox would garner more attention (and butts in the seats) if they moved their affiliates closer to home like many others have. If you look at the AAA clubs, 8 out of 30 were in the same state their home club. Another 9 were within a 5 hour drive away.

Is Lolli similar to ebates/rakuten???

Just thought I’d share with the Soxtalk community. I’ve been using Fetch Rewards for the past 6 months. Free to use. Scan your receipts from grocery store, menards, gas station, etc and you get points to redeem for gift cards at Nike, Dunkin’, Amazon, iTunes, etc. Not going to get rich doing it, but literally costs $0. I’m sure they are using the data for something but I’ll probably get $50 free this year by using. Now only if they would let me redeem for Comiskey Cash..... https://fetchrewards.onelink.me/vvv3/referralemail?code=N5DWU

What’s Tony Pena up to these days?

yeah i get it. I'm surprised too... you would think a small token gesture of say $50/ticket would be given. It encourages someone to continue flying with them since they've got that credit to use. At the same point, the credit is small enough where it doesnt really hurt United in any way. Instead you've just got someone belly aching about a bad United Airlines experience to whomever asks "how was your trip?" Guess lack of Airline competition causes these types of situations too.
-
I did. They said no credits unless delayed more than 8 hours.
-
So a few weeks ago, the family and I flew from Chicago to South Carolina on United. 9:15AM departure. No pilots arrive, at all. They eventually have to call the "on-call" pilots who take over 2 hours to get to the airport. We then board around noon, taxi and then get notified of a maintenance issue, so back to the gate. Sit at the gate for another 1-2 hours and finally take off at 2:00pm. Basically 5 hours late. I reach out to United's Customer Care Department, asking for a partial flight credit and they basically tell me to "pound sand" as they dont give credits any longer unless their delays exceed 8 hours!!! Has anyone had recent experience with United in getting refunds for situations like this? In years past, I had no problems getting small token credits ($100-200/ticket) for maintenance or de-boarding delays of 2-3 hours or so. This is much worse!!!

Who's At Fault For No Agreement On The Start Of The Season?

They would basically be going 18 months between Post Season 2019 and Opening Day 2021!!! That’s insane. -

The uniqueness of this argument is that all of us know what the players make. None of us know what the owners make. You've also got hundreds of players, on social media pleading their case to the public day in and day out. The owners constant secretive nature hurts them in the world of public opinion. Maybe they dont care about being perceived as the "bad guys"? I suspect neither side is negotiating in good faith. And the entire Sport will suffer in the long run. -
How do teams currently handle things when players/clubhouses get the flu currently?
