The more I think about it, this really makes no sense. Has to be a Boras plant. 1. He’s going to cost a draft pick, so a 1 year deal is pointless. 2. It completely removes you from going after Arenado or Rendon, both of whom are better players.

Yep. As a final offer I think that’s pretty solid. Can’t see the Yankees going anywhere even close to that amount. But will the Sox entertain that total? Because everything we’ve heard so far seems to imply they won’t.

Logically, taxes alone hurt that Yankees offer compared to the Sox. Hell, if that’s the two deals, I would throw another year on the end of it.

I sure hope he does. It would be great to feel some positional depth issues finally start pushing its way through to the majors. When's the last time that happened for the Sox?

Delgado and Marshall are on MiLB deals and ST invites, so the options won’t be affected.

I think it could be more likely Luery is traded than Sanchez. He could have some value to a contender than needed a utility guy. Delmonico certainly seems to have no place on this team anymore, which really isn’t that much of a loss. His performance no matter how much of it was hampered by injuries last season was not much to be desired. Good thing guys like Leury, Delmonico, and Engel are easily replaceable and not important to the rebuild.

Would you rather have Jones or Palka? Because that's ultimately who will lose the AB's with a Jones signing. Personally, I like the left-handed Palka-Power he provides the lineup. He's not a special player - very one dimensional, but batting lower in the lineup and he could end up the Sox version of Adam Duvall for a few years until a better prospect graduates and pushes him aside. And Duvall have a very productive few years before bottoming out this season.

Orioles played him there second half of the season. Really hope Sox stay away from him though.
