  1. Rodon 6.5 - The lack of K's really worries me, because he's always been a high strikeout guy. I'm willing to give him a pass and chalk it up to being off for so long with the injury he had at the start of the year. He really needs to step up big time and prove he can be the leader of this staff while staying healthy all year. Lopez, 6.5 - I'm pretty sure I picked Lopez to be the Sox biggest disappointment earlier in the year, so I'm pretty happy with the results he's shown this season. I think he's proving he can stick in the rotation, but near the back end. Giolito, 5.5 - I honestly don't know what to make of him yet, but it's nice to see him have moments of success after such a abysmal start. He reminds me so much of Gavin Floyd.
  2. His passion for the game and the Sox was the best thing about him. When the Sox lost, he suffered that loss with you. You don't see that anymore in announcing these days.
  3. Would love to see him walk a bit more before I think we can feel comfortable with him as a long term option for the contention window. He honestly reminds me a bit of pre-2018 left-handed version of Adam Duvall right now. That has value, but not as a main 3, 4, 5 spot in the lineup.
  4. Welcome to the bigs Hamilton. Tough loss. Covey deserved that W.
  5. Yea, plus I think they were high on Madrigal heading into the draft as well. I remember reading he was the best pure hitter in the draft, though that may have been from other sites too. Totally disagree about Cease though.
  6. Personally, I would have taken those 49 AB's and broken it up by Moncada's AVG, K% (when swinging), and BB% then added it into his slash line. There's no way all those calls would result in walks.
  7. They said at the beginning of the broadcast he had a sore hip or something.
  8. Thankfully there's still some voice of reason in this thread. Gonna go drink now.... a lot...
  9. This right here is a huge reason teams don't make the effort. I feel bad for the minor leaguers that struggle, but if I was in the MLB teams' shoes, I'd operate the exact same way. From a business perspective, there's too many guys that simply will not pan out to justify the cost.
  10. Really would like to see him succeed. Seems like I've been following him forever. That K/9 rate though... ?
  11. Has anyone ruled out he was working on a 2-seamer? That would explain the velocity dip and movement he had on it at times. Regardless, the conditions heading into this game absolutely should be enough for everyone to chill out over him. He has had 3 games delayed to start his pro career. That has to be insanely frustrating for a competitive guy of his nature.
  12. Seems like it's safe to say the writing is on the wall for Tilson. Tough break for the guy, working his way back and all from the injuries.
  13. I'd be more worried about him getting lit up. Would be a real shame for the WS guys to lose because of a rehabbing guy.
  14. ? you..... were...... right..... Nate Jones to the 60-day? I didn't even think that was a possibility for adding another guy. ?
  15. Frare isn't on the 40 Man, so someone will need to be cut for him to be called up. I'm going to go with: Bummer, Danish, Fulmer, Castillo, and Tilson. Plus Abreu will be back at some point (hopefully).
  16. Brewers are really going "all in" on the dumpster diving.
  17. In that sense, then yes, they absolutely misspoke if they don't bring him up. There's still time left. Until it actually comes from the horses mouth, it's still just all speculation at the end of the day.
  18. I would disagree. The Sox are simply following the rules of the system in place. It's a well know fact that the current CBA is not working out well for the players, and more and more players and agents are making their frustrations heard. All this noise is coming from Eloy's agents - and like you said, they are standing up for their client (as they should). I totally want to see Eloy in a Sox uniform, but it makes a lot of sense for the Sox to wait and approach this from a long-term business perspective. As a fan, I will be both disappointed and angry if the Sox ultimately keep him down because he literally doesn't have anything left to prove. But they are well within the current set of rules to allow them to do this. Every team approaches this in the same way. Will it change in the future? You bet - no way the next CBA doesn't try to negotiate some type of penalty against teams that take advantage and play the service time loophole. Hopefully they call him up, because I honestly don't believe anything Nightingale ever says.
  19. Gameday is saying it has hit 98 a few times. Would love to see the triple digits he's rumored to have in that arm.
  20. But there's a big difference there. Vieira can't hit the broadside of a barn at times. Burr has more control than he does, and had a better season in the minors. Guy deserves to be put in pressure situations in a lost season.
