  1. QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 04:37 PM) Barnum now 0-14 with 9 Ks in 3 games after being recalled. My god. Hawkins and Barnum have hit a combined .151 in Birmingham and struck out in approx. 42.8% of their plate appearances. Even as minor league filler, I don't see a point in keeping either of them in the organization.
  2. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 10:38 PM) They're still stinging from the fan base over the Eaton trade, so I think they'll ride this out all the way to the deadline before they make another deal with the Sox. They have some cushion in the standings to do so now, but by July 31, when attention to the postseason starts to kick in, they'll be better able to justify another trade with the Sox that costs them more top prospects. We just need to hope Robertson continues to pitch well the next six, seven weeks. Totally see your point, but I think they will be more desperate to shore up that bullpen sooner rather than later (doesn't mean it will come from the Sox). Not doing something sends a bad message to the fans too. This team won't go anywhere in the playoffs with out a dependable back end to their pen.
  3. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 10:52 PM) with a side of Fry. Don't forget about dessert - a Danish.
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 10:10 PM) Nice thing for Washington is they could get a Robertson+ bullpen package. Absolutely. Sox have exactly what they need.
  5. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 07:21 PM) Draft clearly didn't go as we hoped. Burger was the safest bat left and I don't have a problem with it all. Fits the mold they started in last years draft. I have no problem taking a safe bat over a tool guy, the Sox need them.
  6. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 03:33 PM) I didn't realize Jones is also 31. That surprised me. He was a late bloomer.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 02:33 PM) Yep. Curious to see what the Sox do here. Could always just option Willy Garcia. Or Minaya. Or Infante. There are lots of options. Sox are carrying 13 pitchers ever since Saladino went down. Between Infante, Holmberg, and Pelfrey, the Sox have plenty of guys to DFA to make room for this kid.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2017 -> 10:43 AM) FutureSox‏ @FutureSox 52m52 minutes ago FutureSox Retweeted K-town Intimidators Missed time recently due to thyroid condition. Rehab assignment of sorts. That actually could explain why he was way worse.
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 3, 2017 -> 11:31 AM) Ynoa on DL with hip flexor. Brad Goldberg up. Good for him, should have been called up at the end of last season.
  10. I totally remember Heath Phillips. Thought the Sox had another Mark Buehrle on their hands with him.
  11. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 28, 2017 -> 12:45 PM) Doesn't Sale pitch pretty poorly when he's amped up? He did for the White Sox. I wouldn't be totally shocked if the Sox are able to touch him up just for that reason, but he's been absolutely stellar this year...
  12. QUOTE (Scoots @ May 20, 2017 -> 02:56 PM) Good to know...yeah, it will be interesting to see how he will handle our pitchers. What do you think of the possibility of a September call-up? Zero.
  13. QUOTE (Scoots @ May 20, 2017 -> 02:50 PM) So, 19 year old who hit .400 in Cuba's last Series Nationale. Obviously he will be in the minors at some point this season...does anyone have any information or any educated guesses as to which league he will start in, and even though he is only 19, how far away is he from the majors? Is this even close to a Mike Trout situation where Trout hit the bigs when he was 19 years old? Or too early to tell? I know I remember some international scout saying Robert was the "best player on the planet"...just wondering how much of this hype is actually true. His potential is huge, but I wouldn't hold my breath on seeing him in the majors or thinking the Sox got the Cuban version Mike Trout. He's going to be raw, but the talent is there for him to be a impact core player for when the Sox decide to go on a playoff run.
  14. Great news! Nice job by Hahn and co. to go get Robert. Here's hoping they got a future superstar.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 19, 2017 -> 03:31 PM) With the difference in walk rate and contact rate, I almost wonder if he is being too analytical in his approach. He is looking to take, and is too late in swinging when he gets a good pitch because he is looking to take more. Makes sense, the Sox did put him in the leadoff role to start the year. I can't recall if he ever lead off in the minors.
  16. Didn't see this anywhere, but according to MiLB.com's transactions, Cory Luebke decided to retire on Monday.
  17. Wow, Courtney Hawkins is just bad. Had no idea this guy was rocking a 47/2 K/BB on the year...
  18. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 14, 2017 -> 09:22 AM) We got an all-star and perennial ace out of a minor league signing in 2012 QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 14, 2017 -> 09:24 AM) He probably should have thrown the words "position player" in there. That's what I was getting at. I want the Sox to have their version of J.D. Martinez or something similar.
  19. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Apr 13, 2017 -> 02:01 PM) Other sources, including Merkin, reporting it now. Seems Melky will go on paternity list tomorrow, and most likely, Willy Garcia comes up. Hopefully this guy shows something and eventually forces his way into the OF. He's killing it in Charlotte. Would be nice for the Sox to catch a break with a low-risk acquisition for a change.
  20. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 13, 2017 -> 04:16 PM) I would rather see them be competitive/potential buyers than suck and not be in the mix in the summer. Off topic, but I'm starting to think we need a "closer watch" type of thread for the teams having bullpen issues in regards to potential Robertson deals. I agree with you. I think Robertson could end up one of the late May/early June trades if he keeps this up.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 11, 2017 -> 09:26 PM) Still way too many K for someone with his speed and not plus-plus power. Noticed in spring training he gets a lot of K looking I'm not disagreeing, but I'd be much more worried if he never drew a walk and was K'ing all over. But still WAY to early and a small sample size to draw conclusions from.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 11, 2017 -> 09:19 PM) I think that's 9 strikeouts on the season...heading for that mid 30% range in the early going. That BB% is over 10 though.
  23. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 02:09 PM) If he comes up, shows he can still rake against lefties, can still play OK defense, and you can flip him for a small piece at the deadline. Worst case scenario is that he never plays in the majors, which isn't a big deal. Charlotte is stacked right now though. He literally has nowhere to play even in Triple-A unless someone got hurt. It's a head scratcher IMO.
  24. Not sure if this has been posted.. Astros' Collin McHugh visits doctor after experiencing elbow and bicep tightness
  25. There's a name from the past: Zach Stewart with the L against Charlotte. Charlotte is gonna be a lot of fun to watch this year.
