What crap luck for Smith.
-
QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 23, 2016 -> 06:01 PM) Looking like he will be headed to the DL. Is this the time to make 2 moves? Bring up Smith and Coats/Ishikawa? Gotta be at least Smith. Makes the most sense since he's already on the 40-man. Coats has been hot. Really deserves a look over Avi IMO, even though he probably is nothing more than a 4th OF'er/AAAA type player.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 06:45 AM) Gonzalez I believe has an option left meaning it's good for this season so I believe he could. Sidenote: are you the same CWSPALEHOSECWS that works on the OSFM rosters for MLB the show? The guy who does the White Sox portion? That would be me alright.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 18, 2016 -> 11:44 PM) I'd agree based on the Sox not wanting to mess with Charlotte's rotation but if they don't care about that might be Gonzales or Turner for possible long relief. Neither Gonzalez nor Turner can be sent back down if called up. I think it's likely to be one of Kahnle/Webb/Ynoa - all guys they can send back down in a few days.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Apr 18, 2016 -> 09:52 PM) Has Volstad changed anything or is this just a veteran AAAA pitcher being a veteran AAAA pitcher. This. Can't see him contributing anything to the Sox this year.

Sands seems like the clear choice. Hell, get Avi out of here. He has options left. I know that will never happen, but I think a little bit of me dies every time I watch an at-bat of his.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Apr 16, 2016 -> 05:28 PM) Frazier has been awful so far. He looks like he's a slow starter according to his BaseballReference page. Career .238 hitter in March/April. -
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 15, 2016 -> 11:59 PM) Sadly, the 4-game W streak should end tomorrow because danks Positive Vibes! Maybe the bats will wake up and outscore the Rays!

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 13, 2016 -> 09:21 PM) So you guys are fine with Avila facing lefties on a regular basis (relievers, when a RHP starts) because of your belief in this "second catcher" stuff? If the game is on the line and it's a huge AB, you pinch hit Navarro. But you can't completely protect a player from getting AB's against pitchers they're bad at hitting. -
Jeez, Danny Hayes is 0-15 with 10 K's and 2 BB's. Talk about a rough go for your first season in Triple-A.

QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 01:17 PM) Did Josh Wall get cut from Charlotte, I will recheck milb.com but last I looked yesterday he was listed as active with Charlotte, but I do not see him in transactions or on the roster?? Yep. Released according to BA. -
QUOTE (BamaDoc @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 09:50 PM) I am having to follow on Gameday. It has Bassitt at 97-95 with fastballs. Is that something new? I don't remember him as a prospect near that high. I thought I remember hearing 95 before the Sox called him up.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 01:27 PM) Dan HayesVerified account @CSNHayes Would expect to see a lot of Melky Cabrera in the middle of the order this season because he breaks up the lineup. Makes sense, also the only spot he was productive last season.

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 23, 2016 -> 06:59 PM) Yep and it's why if this continues and the team struggles, they should be the first two traded along with the firing of Ventura. I still think Ventura should have been canned last season. You know damn well this does not blow up to this level with a manager on the same level as a Maddon, Bochy, or Shoewalter. The players may "respect" Robin, but there's not a doubt in my mind he has zero control over that clubhouse.

QUOTE (JoshPR @ Mar 23, 2016 -> 05:50 PM) Aumont has looked good. Never know maybe he'll live up to his potential. Remember him being a hyped prospect. Drafted by the mets and traded to philly in a pretty big trade. Just dont recall who tho lol. If anything hes good insurance to have I wonder what the chances are he beats Jennings for a spot. Jennings has always been one of those "meh" guys IMO. Only advantage he has going for him is he is out of minor league options.

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 23, 2016 -> 06:47 PM) Saw a great thread on SSS about Eaton failing to give Rollins a high five after the homer yesterday. Looks like a pathetic move by Eaton. http://m.mlb.com/video/v561249483/sfcws-ro...?game_pk=469676 I'm sure the players at this point have a very good idea or know who it was that complained to management. I think it's incredibly naive to expect everyone to get along in the clubhouse, but Eaton and Sale seriously need to bury this crap already. s*** happens, people get released and traded all the damn time and sometimes they could be your friends. They're acting like the Sox held a damn gun to LaRoche's head and said "sign your retirement papers." Rollins brings demeanor, experience and leadership to the Sox that the team has sorely missed since Knoerko/Thome/Vizquel - in other words, respect the damn man. He was at one time one of the best in the game, and if he has an issue in the clubhouse it's probably for good reason you sit down and shut up. This isn't like Luery Garcia went crying to KW because more teammates knew Drake on a first name basis over himself.

QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 07:27 PM) Logic tells me what we thought all along that Williams was simply falling on the sword for a number of people in the organization that didn't have the stones to make a fuss. However, the Sox clearly are not capable of pulling off something like with any sort of grace. It was totally botched. Absolutely. It's remarkable how much this has snowballed over the last few days. It was handled very piss poor on all fronts (players/management/media). If the Sox had gotten complaints about Drake stemming all the way back to last season, why wouldn't they have addressed this in the offseason before ST? I really do believe what happened was a few players and coaches were uncomfortable by his constant presence and finally had the courage to speak up. Handing the responsibility of dealing with this to KW was a bad move though. The guy's an egomaniac who expects everyone to accept his ultimatums. Based on Sale's comments there is a very large group of players in that clubhouse that truly did not like KW even before this started. Does anyone find it ironic that the two most outspoken players on this issue are also the two that signed very team friendly deals? Who knows if any promises were made to Sale or Eaton behind closed doors during negotiations. None of us can really say we understand the business side of things. The Sox failing to follow through with a handshake deal could worry and affect many of the players that may have specific requests themselves. A lot of the outbursts could be partial subconscious reactions to their own situations.
-
This has gotta be the most ridiculous reasons to ever walk away from $13M. KW and the Sox are in the right here. No one should ever bring their kid 100% of the time to work with them. Adam is there to play baseball and help the Sox win games, not take some of that focus away and redirected towards his kid or change the clubhouse atmosphere. It would have been a problem down the road with other players as well. You simply cannot make exceptions for one guy and have to draw the line somewhere. Sounds like LaRoche took this the wrong way and was refusing to compromise.
-
Gotta give him credit for walking away from $13M this season. He must really be drained. Kind of wished he would have done this BEFORE the spring, but oh well...

They were going to lose a catcher at some point. Looks like Smith/Sanchez at catcher for Charlotte. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 6, 2016 -> 09:19 PM) Looks like AAA outfield will be Daniel Fields, Jacob May and Sands/Shuck (if JB doesn't end up catching on with another org)...MAYBE Avi if they keep Sands to DH with LaRoche? Leury Garcia and Sanchez as infielders, among others. I doubt we will see either Sands or Shuck in Charlotte. Both are out of minor league options and are not ST invitees, so other teams are going to have a shot at them. Don't forget about Coats or Hairston. Coats will most definitely be starting for the Knights.

Great move.

White Sox considering OFs Bruce, CarGo

QUOTE (oldsox @ Mar 5, 2016 -> 03:06 PM) I'm with you on this. This a typical move that will backfire on Sox if completed, which I doubt. Unlike many here, I don't think the Sox are good enough to compete yet in 2016. Hope I'm wrong. IMO, the only way Hahn can dig himself out is to make a really big move with 2017 in mind. I thought he had a chance with Boston a few months ago, before they added Price and Kimbrel. Bosox are loaded with great prospects. Could have made a deal with Q as the centerpiece. Too late now. But now rumors about Rockettes and Sox are intriguing. They also are really loaded with great prospects, and they need a starting pitcher. Enter Q. Takes some creativity, but the parts are there. I don't care if it includes Cargo or not. Trading Q at this point makes trading for Fraizer and Lawrie completely pointless. If the Sox are going to trade anyone away at his caliber it'll be at the deadline or next offseason. They are going for it this year without handcuffing the team with additional bad contracts and blowing up the farm.
