  1. At least Rodon is where he belongs. Still belongs in Charlotte, but at least he's starting.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 19, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) I truly think they just want to hold off on saying Noesi's out of the rotation if he has a bad start this week. This. Noesi is one bad start away from becoming the long man out of the pen.
  3. I might be able to help with this, but I can't work on it right away. All I would need is the Soxtalk logo.
  4. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 07:35 PM) Where's Nieto? Didn't see him on any of the write-ups. Starting in Birmingham.
  5. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 07:24 PM) They probably should be looking at him in AAA though. you can't use him in any meaningful part of a game. I agree, problem is he's out of options.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 04:28 PM) Some pitcher coming off the DL tomorrow. Woo! Drabek lives. Best move. Drabek, while terrible so far, should still get a look. Plus the Sox need 12 pitchers IMO.
  7. QUOTE (kev211 @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 04:05 PM) Robinson can pitch. Wow I think he's going to be worth every penny the Sox are paying him.
  8. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 08:49 AM) Davidson has struck out 5 times in his first 8 plate appearances. Not good! His ceiling is that of Mark Reynolds. That's said, he'll be lucky to ever reach it.
  9. Interesting to pinch hit Shuck. Soto was looking good today.
  10. Season is far from over, and in all fairness, they got swept by the losing team that went to game 7 in last year's World Series. They do this against the Twins, then I'll be concerned.
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 7, 2015 -> 07:59 AM) The White Sox are notoriously late with these. Last year the rosters were being finalized as the first games were starting (which would be Thursday). Sucks when I have to write the damn affiliate previews without rosters, haha. Taking my best guesses with a big board spreadsheet I'm putting together. I've got Charlotte pretty much pegged, thanks to some help from a Charlotte Observer beat writer. A couple pitching slots are still questions, in part based on if EJohnson starts on DL. But here is what I have for Charlotte at this point, which is solid except for two slots: Starters... Kevan Smith Dan Black LGarcia**(CS) Tyler Saladino Matt Davidson Trayce Thompson Engel Beltre Jared Mitchell Neftali Soto Bench... Rob Brantly © George Kottaras © Juan Diaz Matt Tuiasosopo SPs... Carlos Rodon* Chris Beck Scott Carroll Brad Penny Shawn Haviland RPs... Daniel Webb Jairo Ascencio Arcenio Leon Maikel Cleto Onelki Garcia???? Zach Phillips* Jarrett Casey* DL: Jesse Crain, Erik Johnson The ones with ???? aren't confirmed yet. So Kensing got released I assume? Plus I think you forgot Lindstrom.
  12. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 3, 2015 -> 08:05 PM) I hope Garcia clears. Not worried about Cleto. I want Drabek to be the long guy in the pen or 5th starter. No need for Surkamp with 3 lefties and I think he still has options left. Surkamp does not have options remaining to my knowledge.
  13. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 07:30 PM) Why do people hate Scott Carroll? Not only is he a decent emergency starter, but he seems like a really likeable and fun guy. Weird hatred. All the personality in the world doesn't mean you have what it takes. I like the guy, mostly because of what he overcame to get to the majors, but the Sox have better options at their disposal.
  14. QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 03:15 PM) i am all for keeping Surkamp. i am a fans of his. same as Cleto..... that what burns me with Drabek. i do not see an upgrade. then maybe i am being bias. I don't think it's being bias. I find it really shocking to look at all the pitchers that have been competing since the start of ST on to tell them the new guy who's been here less than a week beat you out for a spot. Especially a guy who, other than being a top prospect ages ago, doesn't have the track record to go along with it. I'm hoping they see something in Drabek that can finally make him turn the corner.
  15. QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 02:25 PM) for me, Emilio and Shuck are 2 very good backups, imo. I agree. The bench is way better than it was last year, at least on paper.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 24, 2015 -> 04:32 PM) WTF? I know Viciedo is gone, that happened weeks ago. I was busy for a couple days and now it's become completely impossible to understand your name dropping. You're dropping names of people we released in the same sentence as people still on the roster and I have no idea which is which. Does anyone have an actual list of OFs in Charlotte? Are Mitchell and Thompson in our minor league camp? I can't figure this out any more. Brian Anderson, Engel Beltre, Jared Mitchell, and Josh Richmond are all officially listed on Charlotte's roster. Safe to assume that Thompson will end up there as well. Richmond is just minor league filler that seems to bounce around levels and I have no clue if Anderson will be playing at that high of a level after so many years off.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 06:06 PM) Sanchez, at best, is described as complementary or competent. That's upside, he "won't kill you" or something like that. Johnson can change a game offensively AND defensively (at least, he showcased that side of his skills today). Royals' guys saying Micah Johnson had an absolutely SUPERB performance today. 4/4, two great defensive plays and almost made the defensive play of the pre-season if he could have held onto the ball. I have no doubt both will be successful, but Sanchez's future has to be coming off the bench. Just my personal opinion, but nothing really screams to me that Sanchez is a MLB caliber starter. Micah at least has that potential with his speed and hitting.
  18. I believe he missed all or most of last year with an injury.
  19. Trying so hard to curb my expectations for Crain, but man is it exciting to think what he could provide if healthy... Replacing a guy like Cleto with Crain would be huge.
  20. Apparently I was wrong earlier. Jennings, Guerra, Surkamp, and Cleto are all out of options. So that might make sense why they are talking about carrying an extra reliever - and even then, I still think Surkamp and Cleto are both the odd man out.
  21. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 02:55 PM) The problem is that Beckham isn't even versatile enough to make sense there. Shuck is at least left-handed, and Bonifacio can essentially play every position other than catcher. If you're afraid Bonifacio can't play SS well enough, then Leury Garcia is a better option than Beckham. If Johnson starts in Charlotte, Sanchez could swing over to SS in a pinch and Beckham would play 2B. But I am against this idea overall.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 02:14 PM) Any relievers on the Option bubble this year? Cleto and Surkamp free to go to AAA? Cleto is out of minor league options. I figured he was DFA territory anyways. Albers is better than him any day of the week IMO.
  23. QUOTE (LDF @ Feb 22, 2015 -> 08:05 PM) coming off the 2nd surgery is one thing, and a major thing at that. but come on, jr is not going to spend more than he has too. he would have been a great pickup, a 1 yr and out type of pitcher. that is if the club doesn't want a multi yr kind of pickup right now. Maybe Beachy wanted nothing to do with the Sox.
  24. Kind of surprised Rodon got such a high number. I had zero expectations that he would break camp with the team, but I thought he's at least get a somewhat lower number than they gave him. Must be because he's not on the 40.
  25. Another good move by Hahn. Nice to have another fairly decent veteran arm to have stashed in the minors. Just go out an get 1 more OF Hahn and call it an offseason.
