  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 31, 2014 -> 11:31 AM) Field has narrowed significantly here. These guys have been assigned to Charlotte or have said they will be there: Jake Petricka Javy Guerra Scott Carroll Andre Rienzo Eric Surkamp (L) Dylan Axelrod That leaves 6 spots, maybe 7 if they go a 3 man bench, to be taken from: Stephen McCray David Purcey (L) Taylor Thompson Sean Bierman (L) Mitchell Boggs Matt Zalezki Ryan Kussmaul Evan Crawford (L) Zach Putnam Deunte Heath Bryan Blough Jake Floethe (could be in W-S) David Cales (could be in W-S) David Putman (could be in W-S) Bolded are my current guesses for Charlotte. McCray appears to be on the 7-Day D.L. for Birmingham, so you can cross him off.
  2. QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ Mar 31, 2014 -> 11:07 AM) http://m.timesonline.com/sports/blackhawk-...4.html?mode=jqm Damn, I don't know why, but I always liked Omogrosso, despite how bad/mediocre he was. Must have been his name/nickname. Hope Captain Omo gets a shot somewhere.
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 29, 2014 -> 04:38 PM) Yes, he's with B-Ham this year. And B-Ham's roster looks pretty finalzed too, if you check their site. None of the other ones look final yet. Yea, I see that. Seems like Saladino is in Charlotte. I'm curious as to what happened to Blanke.
  4. Is Daniel Wagner still in the organization? He seems like a typical organizational MI that would be bumped to Charlotte until Semien/Garcia return. Edit: Never mind, I just looked at tonight box score and see he played 2B for Birmingham.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 24, 2014 -> 05:42 PM) Pretty sure Hawkins is now 0-6 with 5 K this ST He's a lost cause at the plate. He'll be lucky if he ever turns it around to be a .230-.240 hitter. I can't see him turning it around that much to be a productive player when he gets older, 20 yr. old or not.
  6. As much as I would love Semien to be starting at 2B this year, I think sending him to Charlotte with Davidson is just the smart thing to do. Make both of them get 2-3 more months of work down there and let them hit their way up here. It can't possible hurt any. Let both of them prove without a doubt that they belong here, similar to Avi last year.
  7. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 18, 2014 -> 12:15 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@DanHayesCSN 1h Chris Beck, who Rick Hahn says is on an "Erik Johnson-type path," threw 4 scoreless against Triple-A Royals on Monday. #WhiteSox I love the sound of this... A rotation of the future featuring Sale, Quintana, Johnson, Beck and Rodon/Hoffman/Beede/Kolek is really exciting to me. And Danish if he sticks as a starter.
  8. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 15, 2014 -> 11:42 AM) Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 55s Mike McDade, who was released from camp by #WhiteSox, immediately signed with #BlueJays on a minor league deal. Finally! Should have been gone long ago IMO.
  9. I got one - not sure which survey this is for, I did one way back in Nov/Dec and another after SoxFest. I'll gladly take free tix though.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 09:09 PM) FutureSox now has a YouTube Channel. These are videos we shot ourselves in 2013, of about 30 different prospects. This article lists who we have video of so far, on the channel. And this is the link to the channel. This is exclusive content. For some of these players, you can't even find videos on the internet. So bookmark it, and subscribe to it for updates. We'll add more in 2014. We're pretty proud of this one. Wow. Really impressive! Great job. Can't wait to watch some of these videos.
  11. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Feb 9, 2014 -> 01:58 PM) Also the fact that Kenny thinks so highly of Barnum makes me higher on Barnum as well. Kenny's a good talent evaluator, he's just kind of been absent from the process a lot during his GM years, focusing more on the AA/AAA/MLB guys probably than players entering the draft and in the lower minors. But now that he's in a role where he can focus more on the farm as a whole I think it's going to make the organization stronger, and I also hope we fire B8uddy Bell. Thanks for reading. Barnum's been hurt too, so who knows if we've ever even seen a healthy Barnum.
  12. Back-2-Back-2-Back-2-Back HR's by Thome, Konerko, Ramirez and Uribe in 2008. Probably one of the most fun games I've been to in a while.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 29, 2014 -> 12:32 PM) Hall of Famer, Indians hat. No question. Totally agree. I love Thome, but he does not belong wearing a Sox hat. This isn't a Fisk situation.
  14. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jan 24, 2014 -> 07:31 PM) BABE RUTH played on the 1926 New York Yankees with ... Lou Gehrig, who played on the 1938 New York Yankees with ... Joe Gordon, who played on the 1949 Cleveland Indians with ... Minnie Minoso, who played on the 1980 Chicago White Sox with ... Harold Baines, who played on the 2001 Chicago White Sox with ... FRANK THOMAS (1990 - 2008) Just sayin Is Frank Thomas the Kevin Bacon of baseball? 6 steps to Thomas?
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 09:37 PM) The whole Garcia thing intrigues me. I want to buy a jersey but if he changes... (see my post in page 4) I've always been more worried about trades. I had a Quentin jersey, and got to wear it 1 year. Then I had a Pierzynski and Buehrle jersey for 2 years and they both left. Currently rocking a Sale one (which I bought the day after he signed his extension). I think the next one will be a Frank Thomas. I'm getting sick of replacing jerseys every 2-3 years, especially because I buy the authentic ones that cost a lot.
  16. Here's hoping to waking up with a nice surprise tomorrow...
  17. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 03:32 PM) Sorry Jose. This thread has effectively been buried with layers of pony sparkle magic. You are all free of course to keep saying the same thing repeatedly until he signs in 4 days. Since my little pony didn't catch on... Anyone else have any suggestions? Japanese anime? Maybe the Sox should start playing re-runs of Dragonball Z and Gundam Wing over the scoreboard... maybe that will help get Tanaka to sign here.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 01:44 PM) $36 million in 2014 is being subtracted due to A-Rod, that has to be a big part of the reason. I could have sworn I read that after signing all their arb players they were still just under the luxery tax. Maybe I read wrong, but I assumed that it included A-Roid's suspension/salary removed.
  19. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 12:43 AM) OK, Cox aside. I was reading comments made by cub fans at mlbtraderumors and I think there could be mass suicides if the cubs don't sign Tanaka. Holy s*** the way some of them talk its like Tanaka is signed sealed and delivered. I have my hopes for the Sox but if they don't sign this guy life goes on. You mean their Justin Ruggiano and their new mascot isn't enough for them this offseason? I didn't think the Sox were even going to be considering Tanaka especially after Abreu, but this offseason has been just one surprise after another. I hope they sign him, or at least put up a really good fight. That would be pretty bad ass if they announced him at Soxfest.
  20. Why not do a legends banner? Thomas, Konerko, Pierce, Fisk, Baines, etc.
  21. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 04:55 PM) Viciedo is only 24 years old. His age fits right into the 'new core' of young players. I know he has been the every day LF two years now, but the dude has potential to be a very dangerous hitter. It really makes no sense to carry along De Aza anymore. I'm hoping we can possibly get a young reliever in return for him. This. My view of Viciedo has fallen after this season, but I still think he can be a productive bottom of the order hitter. No reason to trade him when he is 25 and still learning, unless you get a solid return of the same value. Plus it's not like the Sox have anyone knocking on the door as far as OF replacements go. If Thompson, Mitchell, or Walker would have broke out last year, I would be way more willing to move Viciedo, but right now he is a serviceable MLB OF'er with the potential to be more.
  22. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 07:31 PM) Mitch Williams just ripped the Sox for next year. He said Hahn made some good moves getting four young players but the loss of Reed is a huge one. Perhaps a closer bias there? He then said our rotation is Chris Sale and "8-10" guys competing for the last four spots. I guess he missed the fact that we have an Ace in terms of WAR named Jose Quintana, have you heard of him? We also have A top 75 prospect in Erik Johnson and a three time 5+ WAR pitcher fully healthy for the first time since '10. Not to mention were one of the best teams at making pitchers from nothing. I understand were not a playoff contender as is but why is this guy on MLB Network? He doesn't even do his homework before he starts talking. Mitch Williams is my least favorite guy on that network. He talks out his ass on many occasions.
  23. Apparently he is attempting a comeback since last being in the majors in 2009. And he taught himself a knuckleball. Blue Jays really like their knuckler-ballers. Wonder if Charlie Haeger needs a job?
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 07:26 PM) Everth Cabrera, right. And a PED user. Not that it probably has any effect on this discussion though.
  25. QUOTE (chisoxfan310 @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 06:46 PM) From the latest update from MLBTR: White Sox General Manager Rick Hahn says his team still has several potential options ahead less than 24 hours after acquiring center fielder Adam Eaton from the Diamondbacks in a three-team deal, writes Dan Hayes of CSNChicago.com. One rival exec believes the White Sox would like to trade outfielder Dayan Viciedo, who is now part of a crowded house with the addition of Eaton. Another baseball source said the White Sox have looked into the possibility of trading away second baseman Gordon Beckham. I think if the Sox are trying to move Viciedo, it goes to show you how out of favor he has fallen. Not saying he doesn't have talent/value, but the Sox must feel his swing is just never going to come around and be that big threat he has the potential to be. After last season, I don't see Viciedo turning into anything more than a Delmon Young type player.
