QUOTE (ChiSoxFan05 @ Sep 16, 2013 -> 10:31 PM) Maybe twice a year is an overexaggeration, but he has been on the DL for about 5/6 of those years. Sox have the DH though. That *could* help that problem. Might be a risk worth taking.

QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 10:47 PM) He had a save yesterday And that's what I get for not checking the box score last night... Heath had the save tonight. Even better then that he is still in high pressure situations.

8/26 SOX vs Houston - 7:10pm CDT - WCIU

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 10:40 PM) Wow.. Houston won.. Outstanding. Helps with the draft positioning? -
QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 11:51 AM) After a rough start, Daniel Webb is settling in nicely at Charlotte. Obviously would like to see his walks go down but his strikeout numbers are gaudy. 19 G, 24.1 IP, 36/17 K/BB, 3.33 ERA. Looks like they removed him from closing too. Probably too much pressure right off the start wit ha promotion and all. I think he is going to be a good RP for the Sox. KW really pulled off a good deal trading Frasor back to TOR.

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 04:14 PM) Does she play guitar and sing your friend sweetly pop songs? I hope not, anyways HeGone7's friend is going to have a low self-esteem being called a loser by her, haha.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 08:13 PM) After thinking about it a little more, McCann might be the best fit going forward as opposed to Ellsbury or Choo. What teams will even be in the market for catching? I wouldn't mind the Sox going after McCann at all. They could carry 3 catchers next year with DH being open for them to rest McCann when he needs it. Makes sense.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 10:30 PM) One team bidding versus all thirty bing able to bid. The Sox just went through that, and all 29 teams didn't want him. Waiting until the offseason, when he has even less control, does not mean teams are going to give more for him. If the Sox are asking for the moon for him while he had a year and a half and teams are not offering them top prospects, what do you think the Sox are going to do come the offseason? Lower their asking price, and teams will lowball the Sox even more. I've never been a big fan of Rios over the past few years because of his overall attitude on the field, but if the Sox can rid themselves of someone who gets by doing the bare minimum, they should do it. This reminds me of the whole Gavin Floyd trade talks that happened last year. And look at how well hanging onto him worked out for the Sox.

Nice to Johnson bouncing back from that groin injury. He should be the next guy called up. He at the least deserves a look in September.

QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 04:36 PM) Don't worry. There will be a new excuse that appears when we are unable to trade him. I honestly think the reason many teams did not have much interest in Rios is his overall lackadaisical attitude. Sure, he'll hit 20 HR's, drive in 80, steal 20 SB's, but he is not a guy you build a team around. I doubt he is a leader at all in the clubhouse, and I could see why a team like the Pirates did not go after him. I wouldn't want to surround my young players either with his attitude out of fear he'll rub off on them. He's a complementary player, IMO. I still think the Sox will be able to trade him in the offseason, but I don't think they will be getting much back in return.

QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 08:01 PM) Eh, I don't know. I feel like that would be Castro or Heath. I can't see them putting Rienzo in the pen after the way he's been pitching as a starter but it wouldn't be crazy. Not necessarily. If the Sox did trade Lindstrom or Reed, they could call Reinzo to take the roster spot, and still be in line to take Peavy's start if/when he's traded. That way if Jake makes does for some reason start, Reinzo could still be a back-up if they had to pull him suddenly.

QUOTE (Knuckles @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 11:26 PM) Who cares? Let him finish out the season with the Sox and retire. This. As bad as Konerko has been, it would be really nice to see one of the Sox greats actually retire in a Sox uniform for a change.

This is good. Looks like Pittsburgh might be going for it finally. Make it happen Hahn. Get one or two of those top prospects.
-
Jordan Danks would probably get the call if/when someone is moved. No one else is even close.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 18, 2013 -> 04:23 PM) By the way, I would love to get any kind of scouting info people might have on Nick McCully. I got basically nothing. Same here. He's been nothing short of amazing this year. Maybe a Axelrod-type guy in future?

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 17, 2013 -> 07:50 PM) Jackson 2 was terrible. WE took one of the top available starters at the deadline, and salary dumped him and Teahen. We got a mediocre middle reliever and a prospect who was in decline. We recouped with the subsequent trade of the reliever back to the Jays. But Jackson 2 was beyond awful - didn't make any effort at all to get talent out of that deal. We did it to dump salary (Jackson was pitching very well) and to help out Toronto who needed him to get the CF they wanted from Stl. Maybe I'm jaded because WE gave up our 2 top pitching prospects for him a year earlier, at a time when Az was looking for a salary dump and he had an ERA in excess of 5. I hate to play this game, but the Sox then traded Frasor for Webb and Jaye, both of whom look pretty damn good this year. So it may not be as bad of a trade as it seems. I still think trading Hudson for Jackson was worse than what the 2nd Jackson trade brought back; even including Hudson's 2 injuries.

I wouldn't mind Ventura stepping down this offseason, but I doubt the Sox will fire him. Especially with JR still in control. I do think after next season, if he is still around, we are going to see McEwing get a shot.

Not as exciting as trade talk . . . - DOUBLEHEADER!!

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 13, 2013 -> 07:08 PM) Ramirez 6, Beckham 4, Keppinger 3, Viciedo 7, Wells 9, Morel 5, Flowers 2, Tekotte 8, Santiago 1 QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 13, 2013 -> 07:09 PM) Jesus Christ Kepp batting 3rd has to be in order to showcase him, but my God that is one awful lineup filled with mediocrity and crap if I've ever seen one, double-header or not... -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 10, 2013 -> 08:15 PM) I can't believe Troncoso was the choice by Ventura there. Also, generally you want to bring in the reliever to get the guy out before Cabrera to avoid a big situation like that. Saving trade value? I think this team has moved beyond "fun" bad. Now it just hurts and is pathetic.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 7, 2013 -> 04:42 PM) He's got a good chance next year to be where Rienzo is now, in Charlotte and knocking on the door. I highly disagree with you. Snodgress is has been anything but good in Birmingham this year: 4.56 ERA 5.5 K/9 3.1 BB/9 I know it's his first year in Double-A, but those stats do not jump out to me as a guy that is going to be contributing anytime soon to the MLB club. At least Rienzo was blowing guys away in Birmingham.

Sale and Crain both on the All-Star team
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Anyone think that Crain being chosen could boost his trade value a little? Maybe offset the fact he was on the D.L.?
