Minor League Roster announcements
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 09:16 PM) Maybe they have to cut some people? There's quite a few that need to be cut. I just can't believe they are waiting last minute. Not that it's a big deal, I just like paying attention to the minors. -
Scott Boras thinks the new FA system is corrupt, unfair
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to Kyyle23's topic in The Diamond Club
Seems like someone is sour over losing one of the biggest-to-be FA out there to Jay-Z, haha. -
Minor League Roster announcements
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
1B Randy Ruiz, OF Cyle Hankerd, OF Darian Sandford were released according to BA if anyone was wondering. Still leaves a log jam of players in Charlotte. Isn't weird they haven't released the roster and the first game is tomorrow? -
So great to see a 1-0 victory against a team that killed the Sox last year. Sale looks damn good.

Omogrosso and Moskos are headed to Charlotte per their twitter accounts. DeMichile is going to W-S. Not really anything unexpected. -

2013 Spring Training catch all thread
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't I like they got rid of the retired numbers on the OF wall. I always thought that was really neat. They better not have removed "The Catch." -
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 04:09 PM) Yeah, I'm not sure what goes into that. Like, why did they option Jordan Danks and Blake Tekotte at the same time, but they've brought Brandon Short and Stefan Gartrell up from minor league since then? Don't know. I would think so Danks and Tekotte can get regular work in. Gartrell is Triple-A fodder, and Short is behind a long list of guys for a back-up OF spot.

2013 Spring Training catch all thread
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 13, 2013 -> 04:20 PM) Scott Merkin @scottmerkin Crain said today continues to feel better. But after throwing on the side, he was not ready to pitch in the Minor League game As we get closer to opening day, the more and more I feel like he is starting the season on the D.L. Makes that Lindstrom signing all that more important, but not having Crain does weaken the Sox bullpen. -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 7, 2013 -> 07:36 PM) Anyone hear anything about Septimo? Wondering the same thing. He's not that important really to the team's success, but I wonder what's wrong. -

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 5, 2013 -> 04:43 PM) Sale and Sox talking contract. http://www.csnchicago.com/blog/white-sox-t...ussed-extension That would be great. Lock him up while he is still somewhat cheap and pray that arm doesn't blow. -
Voted. Good luck!

2012-2013 Sox off season Catch-All thread

No. Two hip surgeries? He'll be usless at 3B. His career, however much longer it is, is at DH. We have plenty of those. Pass.

I don't think the left-handed bat argument has any merit here. Gimenez is a switch hitter, which by that argument would make him the better option. Regardless, I like Gimenez just a little more, but let the two of them fight it out. Reminds me of 2005 with Widger and Davis.
-
Ok........... This offseason's minor league signing truely have me scratching my head. Andy Gonzalez. Randy Ruiz. Nick Giarraputo. Now Stewart? At least he's young, but I'd be shocked if there wasn't better options out there. Even for Triple-A fillers, some of these guys are bottom of the barrel.

QUOTE (3E8 @ Jan 20, 2013 -> 12:33 PM) Quite a large conclusion to jump to working with small sample sizes. Using a similarly small sample, it seems Hahn has already signed that left-handed, middle of the order, "Tiger Slayer". In 35 career games, his line against the Tigers is .329/.380/.562. A .941 OPS. And he didn't cost much more than the league minimum! I don't know why, but Wise reminds me of Fukudome last year. I think they caught lightning in a bottle at the end of last year. Wise is a grinder, but at 35... I just don't see him contributing much for this season. I don't understand why they wouldn't just go with Danks.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 20, 2013 -> 10:18 PM) Unless we put Viciedo at 3B there isn't really room for him... and than we would have 2 3B who are bad at defense and mash lefties primarily. I would trade Viciedo if Bourn was signed. Get some young talent for the minors.
-
I know that this is EXTREMELY unlikely, but Bourn is still available and a LH bat... I doubt the Sox would make a move like that, especially considering his agent, but he really does fit that impact LH bat that would help the team.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 12, 2013 -> 03:48 PM) It says in the auction that it's a staff member's ring. I see that now. He was in multiple WS as a player. I misread the description.
-
Link Interesting. Says it is from a player that played in multiple WS. Looking at the roster, this is the list I came up with of guys that appeared in more than one WS: Hernandez, Marte, Timo, Uribe, Contreras, and Dye I wonder why one of those guys would want to sell that thing. Could they really be that strapped for cash?
-
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 23, 2012 -> 09:37 PM) Right, but I think the idea is that maybe one of those guys can be packaged with Floyd to get an even bigger bat or perhaps a middle infielder that can hit, so there's more than just replacing one of them with Kubel. That's pretty much what I said. I'm fine with that. I just don't want Kubel on this team unless whoever he is replacing is used to better the team for the future. The Sox are more than just 1 piece away from contending.
-
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 23, 2012 -> 12:44 PM) If the Sox get Kubel, then they are likely going to trade Viciedo, Rios, or maybe even Konerko. Trading any one of those guys and replacing them with Kubel is a downgrade. Viciedo's value is in the future. He's only 23. He is most likely going to get better. Rios and Konerko are WAY better than Kubel ever will be. And this is coming from someone that despises Rios and wants him moved. If the Sox get Kubel, they better have another trade lined up that nets them one hell of a player.

Guys I've seen play: Thomas, Konerko, Buehrle, Ventura All-Time: Thomas, Appling, Lyons, Konerko
