  1. QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 22, 2011 -> 09:37 PM) If Danks extended with the Sox for Coop, did Mark go to Miami for Ozzie? I'm sure the familiarity was a factor. But remember, the Sox didn't even offer Buehrle a contract, so technically he didn't pick the Marlins over the Sox.
  2. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 10:24 PM) Kenny has already stated that more salary needs to be moved. I'm getting the feeling that he is only referring to Thornton. What are the chances the Sox try to go after Danks after next season? I was thinking about it. Pierzynski is off the books, Peavy's buyout is surely to be picked up. And if Thornton is moved, would that free up enough cash to give Danks a long-term deal with the money he's possible looking for? Obviously the Sox would have to hope their offer matches what other teams are willing to give, but call me crazy for thinking this *could* maybe be an option. There really doesn't seem to be all that much interest in him, and moving him for a less than ideal package seems kind of moot at this point. Everything on twitter seems directed at Gio/Garza.
  3. Good read. I've always been on the fence when it came to Jackson, but it seems like he was pretty clear of the whole thing. Pretty cool to see how he goes into that much detail about his batting stance.
  4. Some minor moves I haven't seen posted: SS Ray Olmedo and LHP Eric Stults were both signed to minor league deals. Olmedo is obviously a Triple-A filler. Stults got a spring training invite though. I could see him battling for a spot if/when Thornton is moved. Not exactly what I would call impressive...
  5. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 09:43 PM) Yeah because the Marlins want some terrible, mid 30's reliever? Give me a break. They're looking for good, young, cheap talent and that's exactly what Jor. Danks, Retherford, Morel and Marquez are. Danks is a toolsy outfielder who at the very bare minimum is a good national league 4th outfielder thanks to his speed and defense and thanks to his athleticism and pedigree he has some very nice upside. Retherford is a very versatile, grindy ballplayer who reminds me of Craig Counsell and I'm sure the Marlins would love to have that guy back only 15 years younger, well that's what CJ is. Morel is an excellent defensive 3B with a great eye, very good contact numbers and should develop some power, if he reaches his full potential he's a borderline all-star 3B, something the Marlins could use. Jeff Marquez is a left handed starter who could easily work out of the pen as a long man or a good lefty MR. Talented left handed pitching is hard to find and that's what we have here. There's no good reason why they wouldn't do this deal, they can't afford Johnson long term. That's a certainty and they should strike while the iron is hot: he's on a roll right now but that won't last forever, they should get the best package of young talent they can before he reverts back to his normal self. Trust me, they'd bite. Marquez is a RHP. Regardless, I still don't see how they would part with Johnson for that. Morel is the only piece to that trade that has upside. Danks is heating up again, but he hasn't shown much other than speed and his glove.
  6. QUOTE (PMD @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 06:11 AM) JUst checked that one out on I-Tunes, and that's it!! Thanks!!! So far I've got the classics: Let's Go White Sox, Na Na Hey Hey, Sweet Home Chicago, Thunderstruck and Back in Black. For the players I've got Paulie's "Harvester of Sorrow," Jenk's "Boom" and I use Metallica's "Of Wolf and Man" for AJP. The rest I found on the Sox site: http://mlb.mlb.com/cws/fan_forum/atbat_music.jsp Thanks for the link. I can never find that on the site, I don't know why.
  7. QUOTE (PMD @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 07:42 PM) Just out of curiosity, does anyone know Lillibridge's at-bat music? I organized a Sox outing for my department at work (Sox vs Yankees in August) and we'll be tailgating. It's my usual custom to play Sox-related music at the tailgate party, and I have just about everything listed on the Sox website-- but I like Lillibridge's music and Threet's as well (although I know his is a Springsteen song). Can anyone help me out? THANKS!! PMD Lillibridge uses "Ima Be" by Black Eyed Peas if I'm not mistaken. BTW, would you mind sending me a list of what you have so far? I know a lot of the starters but there's a few that I still don't know or forget by time I get home.
  8. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Apr 1, 2010 -> 08:51 PM) New version up in the original post. I've based some things on the grouping of players involved in today's games. I think all the position players in the split squad against Seattle today were Birmingham bound. Yes, I'm predicting a return to the Barons for Cole Armstrong. The players used as subs in the game against the Knights on both sides, with the exception of Robbie Hudson, are Winston-Salem bound. There should be more releases to come, hopefully Baseball America will update those cuts sometime this weekend. I joined just to post this. Got back from ST on Thursday and you would be right about Armstrong. I talked to him a little and he is going to start the season at Birmingham. Same with Joe Torres, although he seemed like he would be moving up to Charlotte fairly quickly. Armstrong seemed a little down, I guess he should.
