Yeah, I'd pretty much agree. It's the current ownership group who is on life support. Remove it from the equation and people will come back. Minimal effort from a new owner would be leaps and bounds better than what is currently taking place.

The Athletic: Must Read article on Jerry Reinsdorf/White Sox
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to thedoctor's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There are people out there that live their entire lives engulfed in deliberate ignorance or information avoidance. Jerry is selfish enough to fall into this category. -
Realistically, he'll probably get a cup of coffee as backup MI at some point just based on draft status. What an atrocious pick, but I can't really say I'm all that surprised with their decisions anymore.

Will the Sox prioritize Moncada over youngsters?
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No you don't. He's gonna get $5M to go away in the offseason. There is zero chance that insane $25M option is picked up, and if it is, Getz is more of a moron than anyone could have imagined. -
Davis Martin using a "kick change" now?
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Am I wrong, or is this similar to the "Vulcan" change Ian Kennedy used to throw? Not in how you hold it, but in the end result? -
Sox claim De Los Santos, IL Wilson, recall Varland
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Why not? Just because they are out of it doesn't mean they should stop trying to find some possible options for next season. DLS was quite effective in 2022-23. -
I agree. I'm rooting for them to break it. f*** it, at least it's something to strive for at this point, and the more it tarnishes JR's legacy.

The streak has reached 21. Raise a glass.
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to greg775's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is awesome. 5 away for cementing Jerry's legacy. -
Eloy is in fact... lazy. Doesn't matter if they rushed him back or not, he never puts in the damn work to stay on the field.

Bye Mom!

I'm more along the lines of only Fedde, Kopeck and Pham being moved at this point with Fedde bringing back mostly pitching. Look at what the Rays are doing right now. They are running circles around the Sox organization when it comes to maximizing returns. Maybe I'll eat my words, but this feels all too familiar like past deadlines where the Sox come up with excuses that the market wasn't there for them.

This. They will figure out a way to unlock Morel's potential. On the surface it looks like a decent win-win type move, but Paredes savant is really quite something else.

Getz running to the Braves because he doesn't have a clue as to what he is doing. The Braves farm is devoid of position players...

Especially when that game could be the one that puts you at 51 or 53 game. Pedro is such a fucking loser.

O's, Phils Swap Austin Hays for Seranthony Dominguez
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to Bob Sacamano's topic in Trade Winds 2024
Platoon option for Marsh is my guess. Phillies have an open 40-man spot now too. -

Starting to get the impression Getz is gonna look real bad following this deadline. Mods, feel free to merge or delete my dup thread.

No, but the returns for Harvey and Puk at least prove the asking price for relievers is high. Sox should get something good back for him.

Crochet wants an extension to pitch in the playoffs
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to southsider2k5's topic in Trade Winds 2024
Philly is such a better fit than the Dodgers farm IMO. I've seen conflicting reports on Miller sticking at SS. Pretty sure BA has him moving to 3B. -
Cardinals Have Strong Interest in Fedde
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Trade Winds 2024
Agreed. I'd be very happy with that. Keep amassing talent and figure out the rest later. This team is years away from being competitive. -
Cubs likely to be sellers; Acquire Pearson from Jays
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to WhiteSox2023's topic in Trade Winds 2024
Yes, but with a payroll at $227M, they don't have much room to work with moving forward. If I was them, I'd cash in now in a sellers market on a pitcher who has an inconsistent track record and clear $18M off the books. Then let Hendricks and his $16.5M walk in the offseason and they have a decent chunk of change to work with to actually address some their team needs.
