Wouldn’t that be something if managing caused him to basically be a drunk in the dugout. Would certainly explain his decisions.
-
Then they have to trade Vaughn. It makes zero sense to have both on this roster. Utilize his value to fill another hole.
-
They got .256/.317/.370 with 7 HR's and 27 RBI's out of Harrison through 119 games. If they can't get that level of production our of some combo of Mendick/Sosa/Gonzalez - I'd be shocked. Especially if they are going to use a more analytical approach, realistically they should be able to match that production with those guys out of the bottom of the order.

It's quite possible someone had special interest over one company over the other. That's how all politicians do business - lots of back scratching.

As much as I would have loved to see the Comiskey name come back, knowing JR got screwed out of a better deal has made me smirk. Screw him.
-
Interesting re: Anderson. I guess I never really looked at the possibility of him being moved. I wonder if they would actually have the balls to move him AND cut ties with Abreu in the same offseason.
-
Well, that's depressing. We need to plan a party and dance in the streets once JR becomes worm food.

You're right. In fact the Sox should expand the search including those who exclusively speak Mandarin, Arabic, Hindi, or French and see how well that works out for them. It's on the players after all to figure it out.

Why does me saying he wasn't the sole reason the won insinuate that I feel he played no part? Maybe I'd like to simply acknowledge the career-year performances of the players on the team? It takes more than any one player or manager for a team to win. Most average-to-good managers don't affect their teams performances all that much - but bad mangers can. Hence Tony last year. Ozzie wasn't exactly Grade-A manager material towards the end of his Sox stint. Getting traded as a manager in the middle of the season is astoundingly shocking. There isn't anything wrong with admitting that he wore out his welcome and when things got bad he only made it worse with his antics. I will forever be grateful for 2005, but I in no way shape or form want to see him back managing the Sox. He may have been what that team needed in 2005, that that was a different game back then. This team doesn't need another out-of-touch old school baseball mind that can't even understand the basics of exit velocity.
-
Let's not act like Ozzie was the sole reason that team won. C'mon.
-
Who's not to say we see Kenny "retire" before the start of the year?
-
A lot of people love Ozzie. Doesn't mean they want him in the dugout.
-
It's gonna be Ozzie, isn't it?
-
The Sox couldn’t pay Harper, Machado, or Wheeler over $100M but they are gonna give that to Nimmo? That’s how you know those accounts sniff glue before tweeting.
-
No chance that entire family could keep their mouth shut if Ozzie was coming back. Especially with how much enjoyment they get out of sticking it to Sox fans.

Konerko will be Ventura 2.0
-
What a dumpster fire it will be if it ends up being him. I love Ozzie for what he did in 05, and I like listening to him on the postage show but I don't think he would fair too well in today's analytical game. It's pretty obvious 29 other teams feel the same way or he'd been given interviews with the Marlins, Rangers, Royals, etc.
-
He's extremely reliable in the past. I have no doubt the Sox have moved on from Espada, for whatever illogical reasons they may have come up with. Or, maybe he doesn't want to take turns with Hahn and Kenny giving Jerry his sponge bath.

It’s not just money that goes to the team. There are a lot of local vendors that sell memorabilia and the garage sale which goes to charity. I get it’s not for everyone, but it’s a nice event to mark on the calendar to build excitement for ST.
