Really rooting for this kid to have instant success. Trying to temper my expectations though.

Tony LaRussa might be one of the most overrated people in the HOF. Count the guy extremely lucky with the teams and players he had, because there is literally nothing this man brings as a competitive edge to his teams.
-
There’s very clearly a change in team philosophy this year in regards to approach and it has broken the majority of these players. It’s like the Sox decided they wanted to be like the Astros who jumped all over Sox pitching in the playoffs with their good contact and it’s blown up in their face. I don’t see how Mennichino hasn’t been relieved of his duties. Regardless of how you feel about hitting coaches in general, SOMEONE has to be held accountable. Yoan is an enigma. I can’t buy into him as a bust or lost cause just yet because it is remarkable how bad he’s been this season - it shouldn’t even be possible.

Kohl Simas was put on the DL today according to the team transactions page on MiLB.com. Didn't he leave his last start early?

GT 6-4: Sox @ Rays (12:40pm)

Jake belongs playing everyday moving forward. Figure out something with Moncada. Put him at 2B. Jake is earning his spot. -
So he's getting traded to Oakland for Montas?! I kid... but it would be funny.

6/4/22 Sox @ Rays, 3:10 pm

I agree. Sanchez/Perez are such obvious promotion candidates. You'd think they try SOMETHING to shake things up. The different lineup everyday strategy isn't working. -
Completely disagree. People do need that sometimes. Have you ever held a job with a shit manager vs one with a good manager? Sometime the little things can push someone to the next level. Yes, the players need to perform, but if you have a zombie going through the motions because they are a "hall-of-fame" baseball person, you may not be all that motivated to try hard enough to get to that level.
-
It’s a managers job to get the most of out his players. LaRussa is a walking corpse. Do you think that man is really doing his best to motivate this team?
-
Nope. I'm keeping a small sliver of hope his personality injects some life into this dead team. Anything to prevent one of Sheets/Garcia/Harrison/McGuire/Moncada/Grandal from all being in the lineup at the same time.
-
The ironic thing is that Jerry gets TLR out of retirement to “right a wrong” to make himself feel better and in return is destroying LaRussa’s legacy. Young fans won’t remember the TLR of the 90’s or 00’s. They remember this catastrophic failure zombie instead. It’s poetic. Dude could have gone out on a WS winner and instead was thrust into the limelight with a questionable hiring process, a DUI, and snowballed into this shitshow we get to watch night in and night out.

I’m not sure it really makes much difference. They normally don’t put a guy on the 60-IL initially. I’m still very worried he will be out a while and this is strictly formality swapping Robert off the IL.
-
I’ve already accepted he’s gone, so trade him. Jerry is never going to hand out a $200M+ contact to a pitcher, especially one that is the player union rep, especially one that he fought over $10K with.
-
Exactly where I am. Lost season. Just let the expiring contracts expire and maybe they can someone improve the team with a normal offseason. If they play this bad next season then look into breaking it up.
-
I will say no. They need a major turnaround on offensive approach if they are gonna make it. Right now I'd guess they finish 83-85 wins.

Sox vs Sox Rubbermatch and Season Finale- 7:10 CT
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to Ducksnort's topic in 2022 Season in Review
I think the Sox are just trying to get to the point where Lynn is back and then Dallas is as good as gone. John Danks was cut way back when with way less IP and the same results. -
Nice story to begin the season, but he's not cut to be anything more than a mop-up arm.
-
Martin has had the tendency to give up HR's his whole career. Charlotte isn't the friendliest park for pitchers to pitch in.
-
Wish he's at the vert least be in the lineup at DH

5/22 GT - Sox @ NYY (Double Header)

Garcia has a HR and a 2B in his only two career AB’s against Taillon. I’m guessing that’s why he’s up so high. Small sample size, but he’s had success in the past against him. -
Perez and Sanchez just continue to make the case for a call-up.

Well, this is the perfect team to get him back on track. He’s been very good again them in the past. -
Can’t wait to see who needs a day off today.
-
Wes Benjamin was released and is headed overseas.
-
Jameson Fisher was released. Had a terrible year at the plate.
