  1. Except Cespedes checks so many White Sox requirements: - was sought after many years ago - old, aging veteran - has a family member in the system
  2. Very strict. Not sure how the Dogs got away with having limited capacity though.
  3. Their bullpen is worse with both those guys in it. Colome is going to regress at some point. There's a ton of red flags with him, and teams know that or he would have had more of a market. Hamilton is like you said, a total wildcard. I think the Sox and Twins are much more evenly matched that people realize. Twins are only the team to beat because they won the division last year, but even sports books don't have them as the unanimous favorites after their additions.
  4. Someone will give him a MLB deal. Brewers make a lot of sense like Jimmy suggested.
  5. So Collins the start at DH until Vaughn service time games are done?
  6. It might be. Could also be good incentive to push Collins. Not exactly like this team has any good options back there.
  7. Man, if only the Sox could be the what the Padres were in the Machado saga to the Mets and Dodgers. Go screw yourself JR...
  8. I disagree. Joc's market collapsed as a result of all his suitors balking at his asking price and moving on from him. Does that mean everyone else that kicked the tires on him misread the market? I don't think so. They moved on from a mediocre player asking for too much because that level of production was littering the FA pool. It's pretty clear to me the Sox had an agenda to fill certain position and had to do so under JR's budget. I'm not crazy about the Eaton signing, but he did have a market at the time. People act like the Sox targeted players no one wanted because they don't like the player.
  9. I'll take what the Sox have. This comparison also isn't fair. They tried to get both Joc and Q and both players bet on themselves and tried for more.
  10. Makes me think he wants a MLB deal or something. Probably counts the Sox out too if that’s the case.
  11. Oh it's moments like these I am happy my name is not Hector Gomez...
  12. I thought they put him in RF last year when in Schaumburg.
  13. Sox might have a decent chance considering Folty is from Sterling. Idk if he still lives in Illinois, but being close to family during a pandemic might be something he values?
  14. I'd think it would be Ruiz, since we've all seen time and time again what he offers. I'm honestly surprised Zavala has held on for this long too.
  15. Well, this proposal is a win-win if you ask me. Owners get their expanded playoffs. Players play less games without a decrease in pay and DH, fans have more of a chance to go to games since the season is pushed back. We'll have to agree to disagree on this.
  16. Without the owners, we get nothing too. I get you are very anti-ownership, but aligning yourself to one side without compromise is not how the business world works.
  17. Expanded playoffs is going to happen. It will be a part of this game in the future on a regular basis either due to situations like this, or expansion down the road. To refuse any proposal that includes it is incredibly short-sighted. I'm not crazy about it, but I think it could work with some more creativity. Compare this proposal to the ones we saw last season, and tell me how this one isn't the most beneficial to both sides. This is setting the players up to come off as incredibly greedy if their main goal is prevent the owners from getting more money. This offseason is a direct result of no fans last year, and it hurt the game. People need to start thinking about how this pandemic is affecting the future of baseball. Baseball is a business, if there wasn't money to be made in it, no one would have interest to see it continue.
  18. Personally, I think the Players Union would be idiots to not agree to this. Same pay for less games and they get the DH for all 30 teams. There’s no way MLB gets through 162 games. Just look at the NHL and NBA.
  19. I kind of hope this happens only to see the meltdown that will happen on White Sox Twitter.
  20. I generally think these guys are full of shit, but I hope it's true. More depth the better.
  21. I think it's far more likely Rodon is Plan D, rather than them always thinking he'd be back. I think they overplayed the market a bit with Q, Richards, and Wainwright. He honestly probably has the highest upside for the remaining guys in the $3M range.
  22. Wouldn't be surprised if the Cubs were the only ones offering one.
