  1. I generally think these guys are full of shit, but I hope it's true. More depth the better.
  2. I think it's far more likely Rodon is Plan D, rather than them always thinking he'd be back. I think they overplayed the market a bit with Q, Richards, and Wainwright. He honestly probably has the highest upside for the remaining guys in the $3M range.
  3. Wouldn't be surprised if the Cubs were the only ones offering one.
  4. We all know Cease is guaranteed a spot, so really this is Lopez vs Rodon. I’m fine with that. Two year ago both these guys were in the rotation as the 1 and 3. Hopefully they bring in another guy for more competition.
  5. Them bringing him back really does give me the impression that they felt Cooper was holding back a lot of their arms from reaching their full potential. I don’t mind Rodon, but I do hope it’s a minor league deal.
  6. I never saw a great fit for the Sox and Rosario. We know the Sox aren't moving Eloy to DH and believe he will be a passible LF'er. We know they almost called up Vaughn at the end of last season and obviously view him as having a role at DH for this upcoming season. That literally leaves Rosario for RF, which if anyone has bothered looking at his stats on FanGraphs, the guy is an absolute butcher in LF, let alone RF. I want the Sox to continue to add for depth, but I don't see this as being the right one.
  7. Don’t care. This guy is incredibly overhyped by this fanbase. If he was such a great hitter, more teams would have been in on him.
  8. It’s entirely tied to his batting average though. He’s aggressive and doesn’t walk. The fact that he has a pretty mediocre to below average exit velo on his hits (which are all singles) makes me pause to label him as a impact bat for the lineup. He’s a tough out, don’t get me wrong, but I get the impression teams will figure out how to position against him. If he never develops power, he’s a slap hitter. I’d rather have that type of hitter near the bottom for when the lineup turns over and the guys who can actually drive the ball are due up. He has a high floor due to his contact abilities, but I don’t see this prolific hitter I would rather have batting over anyone of the young guys currently on the team or projected to be in the lineup for the next few years.
  9. I know, I'm still saying I wouldn't. I don't think his ceiling is that high as a hitter.
  10. IDK, I'm not entirely sure. I'd argue that Anderson is a better leadoff hitter than he is, and he doesn't strike me a the typical #2 hole hitter with his lack of walks. If he never develops power, I don't think we ever see him at the top of the order. Anderson (R) Moncada (S) Abreu (R) Jimenez (R) Grandal (S) Robert (R) Vaughn (R) Eaton (L) Madrigal (R) If everyone hits their potential, I think that's the lineup you roll with.
  11. I have no issue with this. I’d rather have a guy set high expectations for himself than none at all. But there’s no way he’s getting there batting 9th.
  12. Does it matter if it’s a strike or a lockout? Either way there is no baseball, which is where I believe this sport is headed for the 2022 season. Nowhere did I mention 2021.
  13. I think it just reinforces the supposed divide in the FO. Hahn clearly wasn’t happy with the LaRussa hire. Perhaps the Cruz/Wainright rumors stemmed on the Hahn/KW side of things and Jerry quickly shot it down.
  14. I don’t think this has any chance to be true. He straight up hired his best friend to manage the team. You don’t convince LaRussa out of retirement unless you think you have a chance to win it all. I’m hoping this is Jerry’s swan song. However long LaRussa is with the team (3 years?) then he’s done with this franchise. So we have this season, and 2023 to win it all. I didn’t include 2022, because Jerry will be busy ensuring there is a strike.
  15. Of course. Same old song and dance out of JR's playbook. Finish 2nd place.
  16. Prepare for disappointment then. They are done. We'll get a few has been bust outs for ST and Charlotte, but that's it.
  17. I really with they’d just offer a 1 year deal with a high AAV. Make the Twins beat it with a 2 year deal. I know it isn’t going to happen, but dammit he might be the only thing left on the market that can significantly upgrade this team.
  18. It’s thin from the point of impact players. They have plenty of guys that could/should reach the majors, but there really isn’t anyone with the same level projection or expectations as a Kopech, Vaughn, Kelley type of player. It’s a whole lot of role players, which absolutely has its value, but you need to have some high risk/reward guys too, and this system lacks that at the lower levels. It’s why the Padres were able to make all those trades and the Sox can’t find any takers without giving up players in their top 5 ranking.
  19. Believe what you want, but Madrigal absolutely has been offered in trade packages. And no, I’m not referring to the foodies as the sources for this. He’s the most replaceable MLB ready asset this team has at the moment, and the market has/had decent options for 2B as a replacement. People need to stop falling in love with ever prospect that comes through the system.
  20. It's about building depth. It what makes a good team GREAT. The Dodgers are pros at it. The Yankees do it. The Padres are doing it this year. The Sox can't help but not understand this concept.
  21. I think we'll be lucky to get either at this point. JR has locked up the vault for the offseason.
