  1. This. Makes a lot of sense with the Astros and Dodgers interest floated out there the Sox counter with Hand interest. Hopefully we know where he’s pitching in the next few days.
  2. If they land Hendriks, I think so too. I feel like it'll come via trade too. I don't see them being able to get anyone worth a damn to come to this team with such uncertainty in the rotation unless we want to see the likes of another Gio Gonzalez type signing.
  3. Agreed. It's a super weird coincidence, if anything.
  4. I didn't either. They have Jansen. Yeah, he's showing signs of declining, but I doubt the Dodgers would push him immediately out of that role. Hendriks wants to be a closer. He isn't going to go somewhere in a timeshare.
  5. I know, I know, the sandwich guy... More interested in the tweet he quoted. I guess there's two different ways to look at his response. Either the Sox are one of the teams (abandoning their pursuit of Hendriks), or the Dodgers bring him back (possibly ending their interest in Hendriks).
  6. This is funny. Obviously a joke towards the Machado crap from a few years ago.
  7. Someone should tell him Ontario has a ban on Pit Bulls. He's a supporter of the Players for Pits foundation. Think of the dogs, Liam!
  8. Do we know for sure the Canadian government will even allow the Jays to play at home this upcoming season? Not like much has changed here. In fact, it's much worse that it was back in July/August.
  9. Are you aware of the incredibly high bust rate of high school arms taken in the draft? The Sox will be lucky if 1 out of that group sees the majors.
  10. I honestly didn't think too much of it. Guy was probably salty for being left off the playoff roster, he had a bad year, and the Yankees weren't a good fit for him. Lots of stuff that could cause a guy to be unhappy with his experience there and lead to those comments. We've seen that on the Sox too over the years. A few months later he said this:
  11. Here's what he claims, but the data doesn't really match: https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/sonny-gray-rips-yankees-for-forcing-him-to-throw-the-wrong-breaking-ball-but-the-stats-disagree/ He also admitted later that year NY wasn't a good fit for him.
  12. The have the opening at 2B too. Certainly would be one hell of a lineup.
  13. That's very true, but Grandal is historically better against lefties for his career. I'm going on the assumption there won't be a legitimate DH option, and it will be utilized more as a way to keep guys fresh.
  14. Barnhart is an interesting option. Lefty bat who walks a lot. I hate the idea of trading for a backup catcher though. There's options out there without giving up assets.
  15. Having that closer role solidified is what made the 2020 bullpen so great. Everyone had their defined role and expectations. Not saying it needs to be Hendriks (though he is my preference), but they need someone to fill that hole. Sox shouldn't try to cheap out on this and attempt to stay in-house with this position.
  16. You don't give Eaton $7M to sit on the bench. Springer and the Sox ain't happening. That ship sailed.
  17. Listen to the Locked on Sox podcast with James Fox. He describes a way for Colas to technically still play at the Sox facility in unofficial games with other amateurs. He just isn't considered a Sox organizational guy until 2022.
  18. Honestly, Cespedes’s Cuban stats aren’t anything to get excited about and the last time anyone saw him play he struggled. Any reports or rankings on him at this point is complete guess work. I don’t think he’s below Sheets, but I do think people need to curb their expectations with him. This is not Robert 2.0
  19. I don’t see why LaStella would be interested in a backup gig on the Sox when he could get a starting gig and probably more money with another team. Unless Madrigal is moved (which seems unlikely) the Sox are going to have a tough time getting these type of players to sign.
  20. Sox signed Matt Reynolds to a MiLB deal. He got some brief playing time last year with the Royals. Depth for Charlotte.
  21. Love this move. A much needed shot in the arm on the position player side of things for the minors.
  22. Well, this is about as vague as you can get while covering your own ass
  23. Yikes. Really ugly story. Amazing how someone with such a dual personality like that and so many incidents can remain so hidden for so long. Hopefully he gets what’s coming to him. Terrible that she stuck with him for so long. No one should have to go through that. This really shouldn’t affect his HOF voting because he doesn’t belong in the Hall. Guy simply wasn’t good enough as a player. Gold glove awards alone shouldn’t put you in among the greats.
