  1. Yep. I think people should look more at his last two seasons in Texas than what he did with the Cubs. His FIP and xFIP point to signs of him being a lot worse than he's shown.
  2. Absolutely they would benefit from a former ace like him - I just think it could be a James Shields 2.0 situation all over again. Hamels benefitted greatly by going to the NL, IMO. He had a mediocre 2017 and terrible 2018 with the Rangers (before being traded). I think that's the version the Sox would be signing up for if they brought him in, and at age 36 for the 2020 season, I don't think we're looking at a workhorse that is going to eclipse 150 IP. I'd rather go in a different direction than buy into a guy a year too late.
  3. Well that's odd. He was pretty clear he wanted to go to a contender. I honestly want nothing to do with the guy either. His arm is going to fall off at some point.
  4. Didn't he have issues with his shoulder all year in Charlotte too?
  5. Give me a guy that can drive runs and pull him for a defensive replacement late 10/10 times. Engel ain't going anywhere.
  6. That's pretty surprising. I wouldn't be terribly upset is Santana ended up as a cheap RF stop-gap option (assuming the Sox spend on SP).
  7. And it must have been well known throughout the league. 29 other teams passed on him too.
  8. Yikes that's a bad contract. Good for Moose for battling it out for 2 years to get the long term deal. But still...
  9. He’s got a great chance to sneak through too with the injury.
  10. I really hope the Sox have a plan B if Wheeler is a swing and a miss.
  11. Doubt it would be worth it. He’s going to cost too much. If the Sox are trading key pieces, I hope it’s for cost controlled SP/RF.
  12. Try switching it to desktop version. My settings kept requesting to load the mobile site version and it was error if out. Since I changed it I’ve had no issues.
  13. I can second this. I happen to know someone who has had some dealings with one of his ventures, and they were not high on him or his abilities from a professional business level. Frank was a great ball player, but that doesn’t make you good with money or a good business man.
  14. He does have an injury history, so I could see them doing their due diligence.
  15. I'd like to think they've learned their mistake. Seemed to work with Grandal.
  16. That's true. Obviously other factors could come into play in making a final decision, but I don't see the Twins putting the best $$$ offer on the table for Wheeler. I think the Sox can (and will) outbid them if it comes down to it.
  17. They can have all the interest they want, but I doubt they can give Wheeler the best offer.
  18. This. They're familiar with what he's able to offer, and is serviceable at both 2B and the OF. Makes a lot of sense if Madrigal/Robert falter.
  19. Doubt it. Why expose him to waivers instead of just non-tendering him? Especially a week before he even needs to be offered a contract. This comes off as a needing to clear a 40-man spot.
  20. Totally expected, but I bet this is foreshadowing of something else
